I’m staying next door at the Hampton Inn and decided to give them a try. They have excellent toasted ravioli and they gave me more than the usual amount.(Not my first ravioli and I compare it to Shafly brew house minus the their delicious garlic pesto dip) The St Louis salad was good similar to the salad at Pasta House. I came back 2 nights later and had their burger which was also excellent because it wasn’t a preform Patty, tasted fresh. I would highly recommend this place where the food is great and so is the service.

Oh man, Highlander. I wish so badly I could review it more highly, but I can’t. Used to be a regular here when I lived nearby, but service is consistently weak and food is average microwaveable bar food. Great place to watch a game and drink beer, but don’t come too hungry.

I rarely give 5 stas but I have gone to the Highlander 5 or 6 times and the food is above averge, reasonably priced and there is always specials on drinks you can’t beat. Excellent burgers and Reubens. The staff is great. Great place to watch a game. It’s a 4 tool restaurant(food, booze, staff and sports) where each get 5 Stars!

I can’t say enough of this place. We stayed on our 2nd night of our honeymoon and the wonderful staff at the Hampton Inn recommended this place. We quickly got a bite to eat before heading to the Missouri Botanical Garden. Wow, we were amazed by our choices. I had the gulf coast grouper which was done to perfection. My wife had the chicken flamingo which was breaded and charbroiled. For my side dish, I had the 2x baked potato with cheese and bacon plus mixed vegetables. I think I should have reconsidered and just gotten fries. Also, the mixed vegetables was shredded squash and zucchini which was a bit salty. Oh well, it was good to try out. OMG, we tried each others dishes and enjoyed it so much. The price was just right and served within 15 minutes. Talk about service and our waitress was so nice and refilled our drinks promptly.

We come here all the time and have enjoyed great food and service. This is our«go to» sports bar. The servers are very attentive and fast. The toasted ravioli, nachos, and buffalo chicken sandwiches are our favorites, but we’ve tried most of the appetizers and haven’t been disappointed. Plenty of big screen tv’s to watch the game on.

Started with toasted raviolis — pretty great. wish there was more per portion. Had the st louis cheese steak with fries. The mushroom sauce was super salty and the over salted fried left me reaching for my drink. thank fully. beer was delicious. Wife had chicken parmesan with loaded baked potato(should have been called cheese and onion bowl with a few potato chunks). Chicken parm was decent.

I have been to the Highlander at least 20 times after playing softball on Sunday afternoons in Forest Park and have never been disappointed. The beer is cold, the bar food is pretty decent — what you’d expect for bar food — and there are lots of TVs with games on. If you’re looking for fine dining, you probably want to go elsewhere. But if you’re looking to stop in for a quick bite and a cold drink and friendly smile, then stop by Highlander. I personally enjoy the toasted ravioli and a cold Bud Light.

It was right next door to our hotel and despite the reviews we decided to go for it. The ice cold beer was its only high point. My husband and I both ordered the same steak cooked medium. My steak was cooked well done. Both our steaks were very salty. The house salads we ordered read mixed greens. They were iceberg lettuce and had brown edges. My salad had one sad shriveled cherry tomato. Lots of TV’s and the beer is cold. I wouldn’t suggest coming in for the food.

I can’t vouch for the regular menu, but the sliders and fries I had during happy hour were good, especially for the $ 4 happy hour price. I think the cooks got a little overexcited with the fry seasoning as they were super salty. My bar neighbors seemed to really like the wings. The reason for the 4 stars from me is that they have Bells Oberon on tap! They also had some other good craft choices. Jackie was so friendly at the bar, and in my opinion, service is as important as the food.

Returned to the Highlander Pub. Horrible mistake on my part. This place has turned back into another atypical Hooters without the waitresses. The worst part is the service has gotten so bad, we had to wait nearly 25 minutes to get even basic service of an appetizer and drinks. They nearly took an hour to bring our food and the place was nearly dead and then had a huge group of local actors show up for a show party. Seriously, if you’re going to ignore the customers ahead of a group don’t be dicks and either tell us and we’ll go elsewhere. The only redeeming feature is their alcohol drinks and that they’ve gone from being a Scottish themed bar to another Ghetto Dive bar again. Skip the trip and go elsewhere overpriced and shitty service is why this place needs to be replaced and the staff fired and then sent to prison for crimes against polite society for horrible manners.

You think what the heck it’s right next to the hotel. Don’t. Just don’t. Find a decent restaurant or drive to the grocery store. Soup of the day: Reuben. Disgusting White bean chili with chicken. Too salty, viscous. French fries: soggy Small hamburgers: reportedly ok but I didn’t taste them. Baked potato: tasteless. Especially with margarine instead of butter. Now the scotch was made just to order and came out exactly as requested. So if you want to drink, grab a bite elsewhere & then come on over

Terrible food. Do not eat here. — I ordered my meal to go. I didn’t see it until I got back to my room. Had I seen that come out on a plate I would have sent it right back. — it took about 30 mins for my food to arrive, and one of my crab cakes was burned. There were only about 3 other ppl in the restaurant so it wasn’t because they were busy. — for the price(almost $ 16) I expected the crab cakes to be of a certain caliber and quality. But they were small, bland, and overcooked. — the one star is for the margarita I had to kill the time while I waited. It was pretty good. If you’re looking for a few drinks it may be worth a visit but do not go here for food. Seriously.

We went with friends after a softball game. We all started with appetizers. Our friends’ appetizers came out first. It was supposed to be an artichoke dip(I guess excluding spinach) the dip had a half inch of grease just chillin’ on top of the cheese. We ordered pretzels with cheese and mustard as the accompanying dips. The cheese looked like it had been sitting out for hours, it was almost dried completely solid. The actual pretzels were not bad but that could not redeem the food experience. Also, our two waitresses could not keep our drinks filled to save their lives and the kitchen was not properly stocked. If this place wasn’t attached to a hotel then it would surely be out of business.

Very disappointed in the food. For being a «themed» restaurant the quality of what I had was theme park at best. The rest of my part stuck with the typical American bar food selections but I wanted to sample the Celtic choices which unfortunately account for only five items and thats if you give them fish and chips as being Celtic. We ordered a couple orders of Scotch Eggs and I got the Shepard Pie. The Scotch Eggs we’re quite small in size, even with the sausage coating. A typical Scotch Egg should be fairly good in size with a noticeable sausage coating on them. These we maybe medium sized eggs to begin with and they had a sparse/thin layer of sausage with with it being so thin that in some places you could see the egg coming through the layer. The eggs themselves were rubbery and ultimately the sausage didnt have any real spice to them. The Shepard’s Pie was equally disappointing. Being the only menu item that advertised lamb I was already concerned about the freshness of it. When it was served it was presented in a shallow bowl that would have been more proper for soup. Digging into the center of it, it was immediately noticeable that the filling was only a small amount of the total dish. It was over the top with mashed potatoes that had no firmness to them at all and were very runny. A Shepard’s pie is casserole in the most basic description and the potatoes should be firm and make a distinct layer. The overall dish was runny, and not from the gravy of cooked filling, and had no real flavor to it. I questioned whether they truly used ground lamb as the pieces that were in didnt have a proper lamb taste to them. Overall I have to say that«Celtic» offerings were disappointing and severely lacking for what is supposed to be a Celtic style pub/restaurant. Given the great amount of authentic Celtic food in the area they really need to step up their game or just drop them from the menu altogether.

Big sports bar with a bunch of taps, booths, tables, and no personality. Asked for a local beer and the waitress suggested the Urban Chestnut STLIPA — easily the greatest part of my meal. House salad app was fine– standard romaine with tomatoes, shredded cheese, mushrooms, and pepperoncini(those hot green peppers). For my main I tried the Cajun shrimp, which was disappointing. It’s 5 small-ish shrimps cooked in some sort of rub, but they were hidden underneath the mound of starches, carbs, and vegetables on the plate. We ate here solely because of the convenience– it’s literally a stone’s throw from the Hampton Inn. If it weren’t for that traffic I doubt they’d survive.

Came here for the Rams game after getting over to The Post too late and finding it full. Four giant projection TV’s in a row behind their bar here, and not ONE of them on the Rams game… Seriously. The Rams game was, however, on the one large projection screen over in the corner of dining area– but the overhead sound for the whole restaurant was on some Top 40 radio station. Eventually after we brought it up 20 mins later, the manager put the sound on, but it wasn’t in «full» stereo(i.e. you could hear the crowd in treble, but not any announcers). This sounds nit-picky, but football fans will care about these details. If your«draw» is sports, on an NFL Sunday, and the home team is playing and you don’t feature it, I’m sorry — that is just a total negligent Fail. We ordered a sampler platter(just OK) and promptly went down the street to Felix’s, where we should have just went to begin with.

I probably could have driven by here the entire time I live in St. Louis without ever stopping but for some reason once in awhile my husband won’t listen to me and take me where I really want to go so we have to compromise and end up at a place neither one of us wanted to go… Big space — -Big TV’s everywhere… bland looking bar nothing exciting. It was pretty dead when we went on a Friday night… only two other dudes at the other end of the bar. Our server was friendly and attentive no complaints about service. They have Newcastle on tap and you can get a pitcher for around 14.00. It was smooth and delicious… Husband got cod –fish and chips… they did not persuade me to sample a bite so very average looking. I got the grouper with a twice baked potato and matchstick veggies, The twice baked was too much… it had bacon and garlic and just wasn’t what I wanted I wanted good plain old potato so I should have just gotten a baked potato… The matchstick veggies were really good… squash, zucchini, and carrot cooked perfectly. The grouper was dry and had a balsamic reduction on it… I would not order this again. The side salad we had before the meal was excellent… good crisp lettuce and some croutons and cheese… Somehow we ended up spending 50.00 at this place and I would have rather went to the HILL district and indulged in some pasta…

I DENOUNCEMYDUKEDOMFROMTHISJOKEOF A PUB. Being that I apparently have two eyes, a mouth and a somewhat functioning brain… I can tell you from experience that this place only stays alive due to it’s proximity to the Hilton Hotel(it is attached to). The drinks are unbelievably weak and overpriced. The service leaves much to be desired(though I am sure they try hard). The food is greasy, bland and leaves me OTA(On the Toilet & Angry). …I will fight it but sadly I am sure I will return due to convenience and long days :(

Met a business associate for lunch today. I showed up early, got a booth and diet Dr Pepper(hooray). Dawn was our server. She was quite attentive throughout the meal. When dining partner arrived, we had a chat-up for quite some time before we were ready to even look at the menu, let alone order. Dawn was extremely attentive, yet patient, with us. Dining partner got a turkey burger on rye toast(ditched the bun for the toast) with mixed vegetables. I got the steakburger with American cheese. Confirmed that it’s a hamburger — like GROUND, and not an awful cut of steak. No bun. COTTAGECHEESE. There were the normal sides with the sandwiches, which included fries, slaw, can’t remember all of them, ’cause when I caught sight of cottage cheese, my decision was made! But mixed vegetables were also available for the carb-averse. I know, it was a simple meal, but it was glorious. My burger was cooked perfectly with TWO pieces of American cheese atop. The cottage cheese was a large serving nestled lovingly in a piece of curly bibb lettuce. Other garnishes included onion, tomato and lettuce for the burger. .. and a wonderful pickle spear. I ate that first. Yummy! Dining partner ate her turkey burger and some vegetables. They were beautifully julienned, and were quite inviting. I didn’t look at the décor too much, but I did notice televisions and a Guiness on Tap neon sign in the front window.
