Went to Troy’s on Friday, January 8th, 2016 to listen to some jazz for ladies night out. We were so excited to finally get the chance to hang out and have a some fun. Get to the front to walk in and the little short man who works there was SORUDE. He went on a 10 minute RANT about supporting«black businesses», which was so uncalled for, we had NO idea what the heck was talking about. We all looked at him like he was a crazy person suffering from the Short Man Syndrome. The way he went on and on about NOTHING was no way to treat anyone. My group decided that Troy’s was not a pleasant place to be based on who they had representing them at the front door, so we took our money elsewhere. I would suggest to the owners of this club to invest money in sending their workers to get some customer service training to better serve and communicate with their customers. Learning how to communicate with people is key when running a successful business. Going on rants about«Black owned businesses» and treating customers like they are stupid is not a good way to lure customers in.

If I could give negative stars for this poor excuse for an establishment I would. We paid in advance, waited for over an hour whilst we watched folks pay at the door get seated immediately. Several people experienced the same as we and even remarked this wasn’t the first, second or third time they had this happen to them at this establishment. As a warning don’t pay for anything related to this place on eventbright according to owner«it’s not associated with his bank account«. It’s a scam. Don’t go here. Another customer said he talked to the owner personally about a table, took off work for this event, arrived and like us, watched walk up and be seated while we stood in a corner. Have reservations about going to this place Don’t make reservations.

I’ve been making reservations and patronizing this business since it first opened. Now today the owner claims the full number of reservations must be paid for at the door. I won’t be making multiple reservations any more. Today’s event is supposed to be a happy hour with food from 5 – 7 with the main show at 7. Why is there NO food ready and it’s 6pm? The venue is great and the entertainment is always on point and I would love to give 5 stars. I just can’t.

I do think this has to be my last time here. I’ve probably said this before to friends because it’s always something with them even when it’s not my own account of the situation. However…on to my issues tonight: Between them trying to make my mom pay for the entire reservation before everyone arrived(even though the website says«parties of ten or more must pay in advance» and we have six coming, the owner says that is just a suggestion and he expected her to hand him $ 72) to not allowing my aunt to have a new drink even though the one they gave her tastes like«red juice.»(Red juice is the kind n the gallon container for like $ 0.99 that’s really only acceptable at children’s parties and church basements.) Then being told I cannot just have a glass of water after spending $ 12 to get in and $ 20 plus tip on food and drinks. I like tap water over bottled water when it’s an option. And seeing as they should have a working sink, a glass of ice water should be an option. THEN being told by the server she recognizes me and every time I’m in here there’s a problem(as she motions her hands to say I yap my mouth). *clutches my gold chain* I have been here maybe 2 – 3 times and each time with family, of which I’m with now… none of us recall such incidents taking place. DONOTMAKEMESHOWYOUWHATACTINGOUTLOOKSLIKE. I hope I don’t get invited to another event here. I want to support my people but I can’t when you don’t know how to be a businessman. I’m only giving it two stars over one because my friends and family keep performing here. So that extra star is for them.

Good jazz… Bad business. Signed up to email list last time in. Got an email for $ 5 cover for Friday night show, 8−11pm. Arrived at 10pm and got charged $ 10 a piece. Asked and they made up some story about special cover until 10 only. Showed them the email. They still would not refund the cover. Cost us an unexpected extra $ 20 for our in laws’ 39th anniversary… Not very customer friendly.

Amazing space for live music. Sophisticated atmosphere and to die for martinis… The staff is very friendly.
