I did not expect to find this kind of quality in a sushi place in the skyway! The seared tuna bento box was really good, and I will be going back! The tuna was fresh and delicious, the salad had a very tasty and tangy light dressing, and it came with a healthy amount of sushi rice, a sweet egg, some pickled root vegetable, a few edamame, and slices of honeydew melon. The prices are a little more than standard skyway fare, but you get what you pay for and for the quality, I think the prices are fair. Glad to have this place as a healthy lunch option!

Really fresh and delicious food. The seared tuna bento box included fresh fruit, a couple edamame, a delicious and fresh salad with wonderful dressing, great rice and perfectly seared tuna. This place is awesome and a wonderful and healthy alternative to most options in St Paul food courts.

It is strange that the Minneapolis Bent Box experience doesn’t travel over the river well. This one, set in a perfect location outside Ecolab in the St. Paul skyway, missed the mark. I love that they are there and so quick and easy. I love that the folks working there are so nice. But this is about the food. Everyone thinks that sushi or other Japanese food is all about the fish. It isn’t. Especially in Minnesota, all of the very many Japanese places get their fish from one of two sources and it is often quite similar. Rather, the most important piece of sushi is the rice. It has to be cooked right. It has to be cooled at the right pace to the right temperature and it should be eaten when ready, not refrigerated or left on the counter all day to stay warm. I have been to Obento Box in the skyway twice. The first time I had a roll and the second time I had seared tuna box lunch. Bot times, I would say the rice was close to inedible. The rest of the food was fine. The seared tuna was delicious. The salad and fruit that came with it was generous and fresh. I just can’t get over the rice. It was hard and dry. It had nearly no flavor. I remember my Japanese host mother saying to me about this kind of rice that you had to make sure you chewed it really well otherwise your stomach would have a hard time digesting it. If you want me back, you’ll have to do a better job with your rice.
