I love this place– have been coming here for years. Amazing prices and very friendly service! Texas toast, baked potatoes and yummy steak– no frills but I think thats the charm. Really a neighborhood joint ran by a family that makes you feel welcome and full!

This has to be one of St. Paul’s hidden gems for a really great steak for a really fabulous price. It’s a little dated on the décor, but the customer service is great. I felt really good about investing my money in a family owned business, with good home style cooked food.

This place rules. I went there today and for $ 14 I got — a perfectly cooked SIXTEENOUNCE t-bone, a pile of large shrimp, a baked potato, two slabs of Texas toast, and a salad. I’m by no means a dainty eater, and I still brought half the thing home — it’s a massive amount of food. Beyond that, while Mancini’s or The Strip Club will likely serve you a finer cut of meat, The Best Steak House is no slouch, and I found that my steak was juicy, flavorful, and cooked just the way I like it. If you love good, plentiful food, but don’t care if you have to eat in a blue plastic chair, this is the place for you.

We did take out for lunch and ordered the Gyro sandwiches, which were fantastic. It was very tender and flavorful meat. Tzatziki was yummy. Love Steve, Mario and Dimitra. This family is wonderful and cared about filling us up with goodness inside and out. Thank you! Could be a weekly occasion.

Our party arrived twenty minutes or so before close, but you would have never known with the warm welcome and service we received. Small restaurant that doesn’t appear to be much… but sometimes those are the best kept secret. Great meal for a great price. About $ 20 for a ribeye, 3 shrimp, texas toast, huge baked potato, iceberg lettuce salad bar and soda. The steak was PERFECT, melt in your mouth, full of flavor. I can honestly say I have never had a steak out to eat that was this good. If I didn’t know better I would say it was prepared on our grill at home by my husband. I made sure to let the cook and the owner know how delicious it was. The staff and owner were very humble in receiving my compliment and invited us to come again. When I told him that was unlikely because we were just in town visiting from Iowa… his response was Iowa is only a couple of hours away… come again. Even the leftovers I took home tasted just as delicious the second time around. This restaurant reminded me of a place my husband and I used to frequent when we were first married… small, intimate, friendly, resonable price for good food. Definitely would recommend.

The food and service was great. The manager(maybe he was owner, I don’t know for sure) served me. He was delightful! The price of the food was reasonable. I will be back. My only suggestion would be to take it easy on the butter.

Good steaks. Good prices. Nothing fancy about the décor or presentation. My go-to spot for a delicious T-Bone. I don’t like their salads, but enjoy the baked potatoes. Family run. Wonderful people. Not much parking in the rear lot, mostly I park on the side streets and walk over.

Second visit to Best Steak House. Friendly people, good food, good value. For $ 7.00 I get a simple salad, TWO Texas Toast, a perfectly cooked baked potato and an 8 oz chopped sirloin– which goes great with Heinz 57. Everything cooked right and too hot to eat when it’s delivered to your table. Hard to beat on a Sunday afternoon.

The food is good. The filet is a very good cut of steak. Prices are reasonable and you get a lot of food. The location is a bit shady. A great hole in the wall place with good food. Get the filet or the chicken.

Its best steak house, not best steak. While the infrastructure of this restaurant is impressive… the food is more folksy. You’re probably best off getting the special. No matter what the special is. You can get a salad and potato and the fattiest, chewiest steak that you’ll ever see. But it was somehow good… and… the owners are interesting too.

A very decent steak, at a reasonable price, some of the big name steak joints could take a page from this location. Highly recommend

I went to the Best Steak House with my family. My mom and I decided we really wanted a gyro. I know. We’re at a steak house so we get a gyro. Bad choice. No, scratch that. TERRIBLE. CHOICE. It was horrible. I’m sure the meat would have been better if it wasn’t heated up on the same griddle that the steaks were cooked on. The gyro meat was soaked in so much grease that it was almost fried. Urghghhgh. It was crispy and shiny. YUCK. Pros: Everyone else said their steak was fantastic(and that the steaks are always great). The owners and people that work there are amazing, sweet, and really hospitable. They gave us two potatoes even though we shared an entrée! Prices are very fair. Portions are heart attack-inducing. If I had a steak I’d rate this place four stars. My gyro experience resulted in a two star rating. Thus, three stars will do until I go back and have a steak.

Just had this for dinner for the first time. I thought it was really good… and even better that it is inexpensive! Steak, toast, and baked potato were all way better than I anticipated!

My husband and I both give this place two thumbs up. I had the gyro, he had a steak. He was so impressed with his steak he said it didn’t even need sauce. it was moist and flavorful on its own. My gyro was excellent. Nothing fancy. Lost of food for your money, and the owners are friendly but non-intrusive. We had been meaning to check it out for a long time and I’m glad we finally did.

For a poor grad student and her bf, this steak is as good as it gets! Hell, for ANYONE, it’s as good as it gets… You walk in and get in line. Yes, like a cafeteria line. It’s just how they roll… go with it. You get a salad and drink right away… all steak dinners come with a baked potato and some homemade garlic texas toast. I had trouble picking out my cut of steak, so the guy grilling them helped me out and picked the fillet for me. I think between the two of us we paid $ 25-$ 30 total. That was for a salad, soda, baked potato, and two pieces of garlic texas toast. Per person! Oh, and did I mention the GIGANTIC portions of steak? I didn’t? OMG… I think I got a whole freaking pound. I couldn’t eat it all… good thing the boy was so pleased with the steak that he ate his AND the rest of mine. The people there are super friendly… you can tell it’s a family business, from the son grilling the steaks and chatting with the customers, to the grandma checking you out at the end of the line and smiling at you with her gold teeth, to the surly granddaughter who brings you your steak when it’s done. The people who eat there all turn to watch the TV, like they’re in a living room. You just feel… at home.

Not bad for a quick, inexpensive steak dinner. I appreciate the old school feel run by a family who takes pride in what they do. It shows in the service and the way the food is prepared. Sure, its not the most appealing décor inside, but I didn’t expect it to be. I’ve driven by this place countless times. I’m glad I finally wandered in. The steak is not bad. Tender, juicy, wonderful flavor and very filling! Will certainly be back to satisfy my needs for some occasional red meat!

The Best Steak House lives up to it’s name. No, there aren’t legions of white coated waiters and $ 100 bottles of wine. In fact there are no waiters or wine at all. And there’s no cart of beef wheeled through the restaurant. Instead, you roll yourself through a cafeteria like line where you will grab your silverware, top your salad and order your steak. But at the end of the process, you will get a very large, tasty slab o’tissue, cooked precisely to order, served with two slices of well buttered Texas toast and a baked spud. The best news: all of this goodness will cost far less than $ 20, soft drink included. The vibe here is low key and very friendly. The grill man will greet you with a smile(and maybe a good natured wise crack), and the person delivering your steak will set it on your tray with a smile. Lots of families, couples, working stiffs, all sorts from all walks of life enjoying tasty beef under the bright lights. Completely fantastic. When you walk out the door, stomach stuffed but wallet not empty, the grill man will holler out, «Come back soon!» If you are like me, when you answer back, «I will!» you will mean it. The Best Steak House is the best.

I did it. I ate it all and now I’m near a coma, regretting this tight sweater I wore today. I’m gonna have some work to do at the gym tonight. But it was worth it. This place is so classic. «Whaddya mean ya neva been here?! I’ve been here for 25 years!!» Says the owner/cook who wears a red work shirt with one(maybe two) buttons buttoned, displaying quite the man sweater. Judging by the three pictures hung on the back wall(the Sopranos, Goodfellas, and what I assume is a younger photo of him), this is not a guy you mess with. But honestly, it’s quite the charming family run business. His mother with the gold teeth will gladly check you out, in between browsing the JC Penny’s catalog. She’s «looking for something, you know?» Her other son, the one that’s not cooking, Steve as his work shirt says, yeah Steve’ll run your credit card for ya. And the granddaughter serves and buses the tables. The clientele runs the whole gamut, but I must say we were a little out of place in our business suits. It’s mostly blue collared work shirts, white t’s, and gold chains galore. As the sign says behind the grill, «There’s something special for every day.» The amount and quality of food you get here for the price can’t be beat. I got the fillet which comes with an iceberg salad(with bacon bits!!), baked potato, and awesome Texas toast. I added mushrooms and onions and a diet coke, my cafeteria tray was overflowing. My total was $ 14, not bad for a steak dinner. The food was all really good. Great steak, nicely cooked, only a couple grizzly bites in the whole thing. But that’s to be expected in this price range. Way to go Best Steak House, you live up to your name. Now I have to go lay down…
