I have had many good experiences here. Funny that the one poor rating is from someone ‘who lives down the block’…in Massachusetts

Well, it’s a genuine neighborhood bar. Unfortunately, while it’s genuinely my neighborhood, it’s not my neighborhood bar. A few years back, after we bought our house, my wife and I stopped in to have a beer and check out what we hoped would be our new local bar. What an unfriendly experience!(That is, unless you like being stared at the entire time, and having all conversations stop when you walk in the door). Haven’t been back, despite living right down the block, and from conversations we’ve had with some neighbors, this isn’t a unique experience. Spend your money somewhere that will welcome your business.

It ain’t fancy… If you are younger then 30 you can stop reading now. This is the kind of place where people like to stop and have a couple drinks(or more) and unwind, socialize, and enjoy good company. We are all regular folks at «The Vic». The music usually is not so loud you cannot talk with people, nor is it newer than 1984. That suits me just fine. If you are in the mood for a very low key and friendly drinking joint stop in.

I used to come here a when I lived a few blocks away on La Fond. It is a cheap tiny dive bar. It never had more than a half-dozen people inside, even on a weekend night. All I can remember is that there were several dart machines and that the place was always quiet. There is really nothing nearby either, so you would have to make a special trip, just for this place. I’m not sure it’s worth it, but it would be a good place to make your own. You will definitely be remembered after only stopping by a few times.
