Amazing food and quant atmosphere. Best veggie lasagna I’ve ever had and their lunch menu is also great. Highly recommend the turkey and prosciutto piadina.

I am one of those people that only likes their own lasagna.. until this little place. We got there 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and they were very gracious and you never would have known they were about to close. The goat cheese & fig torta appetizer was delicious, and my veggie lasagna was out of this world(tried both and the marinara was my fav. over the alfredo sauce). The service was fantastic. We shared a bottle of wine in this very cozy, romantic atmosphere and will definitely be back. Perfect for a date night!

Wow! Best marinara sauce I’ve ever ate off my wife’s plate. The atmosphere was nice, small limited seating, old school Italian restaurant style, but not dark. High class but not pretentious. The greet and wait staff were all over 50 or even 60. Very kind and welcoming. It felt like walking into those classic mafia movies we love. I am sorry for the stereotype but it takes you right into that atmosphere naturally, not intentional. Is a place that any old Italian would love. Sure is a date place, but they treated our family like we were theirs. The food was well presented. Every bite was a step through an Italian grandma’s kitchen where she makes everything from scratch using only the finest hand picked ingredients. You can taste the care and hard work. Iced tea, salad, bruchetta, table bread, Clams with linguine, spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli and lasagne were all tried and shared at our table. I would put each item up against any best ever list. We must go back for dessert and coffee which looked fantastic as well from the menu. Thank you for treating us like family!

Went there with my fiancée a month ago for dinner. The food was average to poor. We also felt that their menu was WAY over priced. Easily dropped over $ 100 for two enters and appetizers. Ambiance was poor also. Our waiter was very nice though. But sadly, we won’t be returning

Great little Italian place tucked off the Green line route on university. Good parking available in their lots. Went on a Tuesday evening, not dead by any means but definitely quite. Extremely friendly wait staff greeted us and answered any questions we had. We started with the bruschetta, three different ways, it had a fresh taste and seemed to use quality ingredients. I had the gnocchi which was of excellent texture, the sauce was a bit salty for me but that’s on my accord since I got a pancetta dish. My girlfriend ordered a pasta with sausage and veggies, the tomato sauce was very good and the sausage within very flavorful. Will definitely be back in the future! 4.5÷5

Me and my wife love this place, we are fairly regular and really appreciate that most of the staff know our names. The food is great, with a slowly changing menu — just enough to be fresh, but with enough standbys to still have stuff we love after coming for a few years. Highly recommended for a low key social even or just dinner for two. Oh and they have great cocktails.

I had a wonderful seafood lasagne with both white and red sauce. The marinara sauce was an excellent compliment to the perfectly cooked homemade, savoury and delicious vegetarian pasta. We were greeted at the door for lunch by the owner and his wife who chatted us up and were extremely friendly and accommodating. The waiter was extremely polite and efficient, however the best part was the food.

Bring your date here. Romantic! There must be a little old Italian lady in the kitchen. Her spouse must be the Italian man behind the bar who seats you. (You can tell he eats the noodles. lol) The reason I say this is because the food tastes like you are visiting someone in Italy! The servers are pro. Older gentlemen who know what good service looks and sounds like. So classy.

Caffe Biaggio is amazing! The bread pudding defies logic. The entrees we got were incredible. The ambiance is romantic. Our waiter was wonderful. He was knowledgable and helpful. We will be going back!

Which may not be the best idea because the acoustics are not good, went here for a first date. It’s Really noisy plus it was hard for my day and i also to talk. However the service and food are extremely great, as well as the waiters are extremely familiar with the food selection as well as the red wine checklist.

I’ve had the Minnesota Style Italian Roast Beef Sandwich twice in the last two weeks, and I am already looking forward to eating it again. I’ve eaten there many times. The pizza is great, pasta is great, amazing salads, and the desserts are… I’m losing consciousness… bread… pudding… so… good… Sorry! Café Biaggio is among my favorite restaurants.

I’ve not had decent Spaghetti Ala Carbonara since I lived in Italy. Biaggio NAILS it EVERY.DAMN.TIME. The Goat Cheese Torta is a possible gateway to the mafia life– because I would seriously shank someone for another bite. Service here is best if you have an actual sense of humor and some patience. This is not frozen in bag microwave and serve chain restaurant fare– real food takes time. They do not employ humorless robots as server– in fact, your meal is likely to come with a few dashes of facetious humor. Feel free to lob a few jests back with a little wink.

This restaurant is why we go out to eat! The variety of seats allows for a business meeting, a romantic evening, or a deeply satisfying meal alone. Attentive and intelligent service staff see when you have a need and when your romance, business meeting, etc. is at a critical moment when a disruption wouldn’t be ideal. The dishes are an excellent value. Each dish delivers what it promises. The quality of ingredients, preparation, and presentation are second to none.

My family and I were a little skeptical about going here. The location and exterior of the building are not too enticing, but we were pleasantly surprised by the interior. Exposed brick walls, colorful artwork, and just a nice vibe. The waiter was terrific — full of information and tips about the menu. We started with arancine and caprese. The arancine was as good as we have had in Italy. The house made mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes were perfect for the caprese. The pasta dishes were very good, mostly traditional but a few very unique ones. The veal saltimbocca was nicely done. We had to pass on dessert — too full — but there were some excellent choices. Lastly, the wine list was varied with some interesting options. In all, we had to give it 5 stars as we felt it ranked right up there with some top flight Italian restaurants in Chicago. Will be going back.

I never thought I would be breaking my hiatus from writing one star review. It has been a really long time since the last time I had this awful of an experience; but, it had to happen again today. I blamed this on Dita. She chose the restaurant. Huahahahahaha(evil laugh). In seriousness though, how would we know since it has almost perfect rating on Unilocal. I was under the impression that it was upscale; however I thought it looked a little dodgy from outside. The inside was a little better but it was in an old building with wood chairs that had no cushion. My bottoms are well cushioned with pillowy butt goodness but they still wanted some more fluff in between them and the wood. Our server was young and she was busy socializing with the other table consisted of four old men. One guy with the eye patch was cool and he made her giggled a lot. Finally she was able to break away and took my drink order while I was waiting for Dita to arrive for our lunch. We ordered after Dita arrived and we asked our server some questions on the menu that was rather small for lunch. Dita was contemplating between the Italian Beef sandwich and the spaghetti and meatballs. She suggested to Dita to get the sandwich and two meatballs on the side. Dita was like. huh?!! I asked if the orecchiette was good. She said it was just okay and told me to get the tortellini. I still went with the orecchiette. We also ordered soup. We saw people that came after us were enjoying their soup. Meanwhile, Dita and I were just staring at each other wondering where the f were our soup. By the way, while waiting, I was able to observe how perfect Dita put her eye make up together. It was nice and how her lipstick stayed in tact during lunch. Oh yeah, because we haven’t eaten, that’s why! Finally our server came back but not with soup. She brought a basket of bread that she also completely forgot to give us. Not long she came back with our entrées. Dita just had about enough. I never saw anyone said the word«Manager» quite like her. The manager was apologetic and she comped our lunch. We tried to eat the spaghetti and the orecchiette. However, they weren’t good. The spaghetti was so plain and it looked like spaghetti you got at a Baker’s Square or something, not an upscale Italian restaurant. The orecchiette looked richer in oil than Saudi Arabia. That thing needed its own drill team and Halliburton. Dita insisted to get her tomato soup. Luckily, that was good. It was quite tasty. We also were asked to order desserts. We got the Meyer lemon icebox cake that was pretty delicious and tiramisu that was ok. In the midst of all that, the people next to us were asking the waitress about the menu just like we did. She answered about the spaghetti as she pointed to Dita that this lady didn’t like it. Omg! LOLOLOL. Those people ended up talking to the stranger whisperer and I was there left playing with my oily pasta wondering if I could get rich from it or just get fat. Oh! I was going to order bread pudding and I asked for a scoop of ice cream. Our waitress came back and said they didn’t have ice cream but they had gelato. Wahahahaha. Ok. Dita said that she still felt ripped off though we didn’t pay. We left still kinda hungry and will never return here again. I had better meals at Olive Garden. No, scratch that. Better meals at Fazoli. Yeah, that bad.

What more can I add to the other glowing reviews? My family has a favorite Italian place in Florida that is our comparison for top notch Italian food and Caffe Biaggio is right there with them. We arrived on a Saturday night without reservations and underdressed(while not a very dressy restaurant, my teenagers in shorts felt uncomfortable there), the host found us seats by putting together 2 high tables and it was perfect for us. My son had to have the goat cheese torta, which was as amazing as everyone else says. My other pickier son even enjoyed it. The goat cheese flavor is very understated and balances well with the pesto layer. We also had a warm romaine salad with pancetta and Gorgonzola. Nice. I was impressed that all of the pastas were homemade. Anything you can get with the marinara sauce will impress you. It is lick-your-plate-clean delicious! Carbonara was rich with smoky pancetta. Ricotta Cavatelli with sausage and greens was not spicy, but flavorful and surprisingly light on the tongue. I’m not a huge seafood stew fan, but my son loved his Ciopinno. Desserts were incredible as well! Warm white chocolate bread pudding and lemon ice box cake… I kept stuffing myself even though I was full because it .good! Knowing how tasty everything was, I can’t wait to go back and try more items off the menu. Service was fine. our waiter was reserved, a little more friendlier when we asked questions. Prices are higher than your local neighborhood joint, but I feel deserving for the quality of food you receive. Go and enjoy!

I have put 4 stars but that is only because it was my first time here. My meal was definitely a 5 star meal. This place is great– definitely an old school Italian restaurant. We had great service and the food was amazing. Started with the fried risotto balls w stuffed mozzarella– amazing! I had the carbonara which was killer — very rich– I only ate ½. Could easily split something like this. My wife had like an eggplant lasagne thing which she loved. Note: their marinara sauce is crazy good. Excited to have discovered a great Italian place! We will be coming here again soon+ it’s close by.

The food and the service were great. Good enough for Garrison Keillor? I’ve wondered about this place for a few years, ever since a friend of mine ran into Garrison Keillor here while having dinner. First time visit today, my wife and I stopped by for lunch. The food was very good, the service was good, and we liked the cozy atmosphere. We usually don’t like places that have a lot of artsy, hand-made stuff all over the place. But Café Biaggio somehow pulls it off. For STARTERS we had tomato soup and beef barely soup. I(we) liked both of them. The tomato soup was a sweet style, which I normally don’t like. But I really like their version. For ENTREES we had the Beef Ravioli special and the Lamb Burger. Again, they were very good. The ravioli wasn’t drained well enough so it was a bit watery. But it didn’t detract from the flavor. For DESSERT we split Tiramisu – excellent! I wouldn’t drive out of my way to come here. But we’d stop by again if we’re in the area and in the mood for Italian. –Daddy Maxx Retro

Biaggio is old school. And I mean that in the best way possible. All of the servers are consummate service professionals. They’re a bunch of cute not-super-young dudes who really, really know their stuff. I think Biaggio may have the best service in the Twin Cities. The food is also top-notch. Seriously awesome Italian. I usually get the cioppino, which is one of my favorite dishes in the world. I don’t think I’ve ever had better cioppino, even on the coasts. They also have a bunch of bomb pasta dishes(all in-house pasta from scratch, of course) and their entrees are super good, too. I have never eaten something here I didn’t like. Faves other than the cioppino: pasta carbonara, lasagne, anything saltimbocca. Their salads and desserts are awesome too! Oy. You can’t really go wrong here. They even have specials based on what was super fresh at the market — last time I went they had limited quantity of stuffed squash blossoms that they had gotten in that day. So effin’ delish. We always go for important occasions, like graduations, engagement, birthdays, etc. Everyone likes it no matter their age and taste preference. And if I go with parents they’re usually buying. Muahahaha.

My wife and I live in the area and have made this a regular stop for date nights. Not cheap but not overpriced with a decent wine list and a solid menu. Food: everything we’ve had here has been of top quality, but the two standouts are the lamb shank(seriously amazing) and the gnocchi in the red sauce(my wife only allows me to steal 1 gnocchi per visit). The red sauce here is up there with the best I’ve had, anything served with it will not disappoint. The only item we weren’t crazy about was the fried calamari(still decent but not on the same level as their other food) Service: this is where this place shines. The servers are very knowledgable and able to describe, recommend, and pair both food and wine. Don’t go expecting a quick meal though, this is a sit and enjoy type of place. Price: as mentioned before not cheap/not expensive. We always feel we pay a fair price for the food and service given.

«Hands down, The best Italian food I’ve ever had in Minnesota.» — my Italian boyfriend We had a wonderful experience here and I love that the menu changes quarterly, so we can come back and try something new at least 4 times a year! This is the best kept secret of St. Paul and their authenticity to true Italian food is wonderful(not much«Americanized» menu options). We ordered the arancine for our appetizer, which is deep fried risotto filled with mozzarella, and if our entrees weren’t coming we would have ordered seconds! We enjoyed the gnocchi and veal medallions(melted in your mouth) for dinner and were so full we almost didn’t get dessert! Alas, we could not pass it up. We ordered the almond semifreddo and had to resist from licking the plate! Can’t wait to go back!
