Not sure why all the hate here– I would think people would know that they were eating at a place like this before they get here. Hating on this place is like hating on Applebee’s. Nobody goes because of the excellent food– they go because it’s fairly convenient, reasonably priced, you can get a drink, and hang out in a group. We went with a group of 6 at 7:00 on a Saturday night. Seated right away. $ 3 special on Coors light or Blue Moons. We ordered: 3 burgers with waffle fries, 1 French dip, 1 blackened chicken fettuccine, and 1 southwestern chicken salad. Burgers were all generally cooked to order, the French dip was tasty but The Man felt ripped off because they up charged him for a skimpy slice of Swiss cheese, the fettuccine was ok, and Mini Skirt loved her chicken salad– which is a bleepin’ miracle– world’s pickiest eater, that one. THEWAFFLEFRIESWITHTHESEASONEDSOURCREAMDIP! Get them! And get the sour cream dip, for Pete’s sake. The BEST thing on the menu. Server was pretty busy, but kept the drinks coming, and split our tab up by couple without even having to ask. Right before we left, the guys decided they«had to» do shots of Patron. Bartender set them up with the salt, lime, and some waters«just in case.» 2 of the 3 guys needed the water chaser, pansies. All in all, ok food, you’ll pay about $ 12 an entrée, service is fine. Like I said up top, go with a group to have fun, and don’t worry too much about everything else.

I went to dinner with my wife about 7. Seated right away. They have a pretty good selection of dishes. I have been looking for the healthier menu choices and noticed that there are not that many. Restaurant was clean and pleasant. The food came hot and was very good! We go here occasionally. Not currently in our rota. A little pricey, but you get a large portion. Pretty good overall.

Food is not the same as it use to be. But a good lunch spot and beer.

Pretty standard food here so can’t complain. Service was pretty good and nice seating in front of huge TV screens. However, I would favor the Lake Tavern Grill just a few minutes away at the Woodbury shopping plaza. The food selection is pretty boring and nothing really sparked my interest. I had the steak fajitas which was decent but would rather have a fish taco which wasn’t available.

I used to really love this place. The happy hours are as good as they once were and the service has started to falter. The portions are alway enough that you will be taking some home, which is nice, considering the price you pay.

Walnut pecan chicken sounds way better than it actually is.

Its Champps, if you have been to one you know what you are getting. We went in on a Wednesday night. Fajitas were on special so I ordered those and my friend ordered the French dip. While my shrimp fajitas were OK, they were missing seasoning. They were just bland. Nothing special. The portion was good for the on special price, the sides were all good although over cooked veggies. Some Fajita seasoning was in major need here. The shrimp tasted boiled. No color, no seasoning, nothing. And they need a salsa or hot sauce for these. The pico de gallo served with it was in dire need of heat and more flavor.(Missing salt, cilantro, pepper, jalapeño). My friend said it was«Minnesotafied»… All heat and flavor removed! Meanwhile my counterparts french dip looked great. She said it tasted good and the waffle fries were good. There was a pile of med roast beef on the sandwich and looked really good. She said would order it again. We had a couple cocktails and headed out. The sandwiches /waffle fries may be the way to go. All in all there was nothing«wrong» with our visit… The under seasoned bland food is typically what we seem to be finding at more and more big chains to no offend the masses.

Nothing special about this place. I went with a couple of girlfriends on New Year’s day. It was very dead. We sat ourselves in the bar area. It took the server a long time to get to us. When she did get to us she asked if we were going to order food, for which we replied, «yes.» Then she proceeds to ask if we needed menus since she didn’t know if someone sat us down or we found our own seats. Was she blind? Because whether someone sat us down or we sat ourselves down, there was clearly no menu(s) on our table. The thing that really irritated me was that it was a Sunday night, and they have happy hour specials every Sunday night from 7pm to 12am… but to our dismay, it was a «holiday» so they weren’t having their usual Sunday night happy hour specials. Stupid. Food is mediocre. Again nothing special about the place. Next time I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll visit Wild Bills across the street instead. Edit:(01.11.12) Looks like Wild Bills only has two stars here on Unilocal.Guess I won’t be visiting that place either. Too bad… was really looking forward to good bbq food.

Chammps was packed on the night before Thansgiving when we swung by to grab dinner. When we got our table for 6 it was right next to the kitchen so it was a bit loud. The server was very attentive and friendly even though she had to be a bit frazzled. 3⁄6 people in our party had the Kobe burger(*sp??) They found it to be delicious. I would say it was better than a Perkins or an Applebees, but didn’t blow me away. I will head back for sure, for a quick casual dinner.

Way overpriced. Grimey tables and chairs. WAY overpriced. And the food is just, bleh. Nothing special here. It’s a sports bar and probably a good place to watch a game. Oh, and another thing, I’m sick and tired of restaurants that have«kids menus» putting second rate dog food on the menu for kids. Like kids can’t tell if things are disgusting? Mine can.

I used to go to Champps from time to time when down in Woodbury visiting family. I hadn’t been there in quite awhile however. My husband and I found ourselves down in Woodbury this week at lunch time and I really wanted a salad. Remembering how good — and big — the salads were at Champps, I suggested we go there. I ordered an Elly’s pasta salad, even though it is January. Cabin fever, I guess. Whoever made this salad needs to go back and take a class in cooking pasta 101. The penne pasta was almost crunchy and they used some kind of cheap bacon from a bottle. My husband eats like a horse. He had ordered a steak, with mashed potatoes and vegetables. He barely touched his plate. Pasta salads are very easy to make and I’ve never had one I didn’t like. The next time we find ourselves in Woodbury at lunch, we’ll check out another place. We hope that food will make us want to chow down.

An over priced sports bar with below average food, the only thing I like there are the waffle fries if you can get them hot and that hardly ever happens portions are smaller than you think burgers come on a over sized bun, you won’t see me there unless I have been brought there and politely not refusing not to go

When I was officed in the area two years ago, I would end up here every week or two. The food was always fine, nothing to rave about, but no big complaints. You left full and reasonably happy, without too much off the wallet. Last week I was in for lunch twice with colleagues, and wow, has it gone downhill. Heard from the server that corporate came in and made ‘some changes’ — well, whoops, that wasn’t such a good idea. I had two different chicken sandwiches, and they were both quite awful. It was clear the chicken was frozen, processed, half rate crap — so tough a steak knife struggled to get through. Overall, it was a struggle to pay the check. Even the ‘famous’ waffle fries were less than what they used to be. I know I’m not happy with anything in the area, but wow, Champps used to be reliably fine(at least for lunch), but now it has become just weak(at least for lunch). I’d offer that in the summer, it is probably still nice to sit on the patio with a beer and chat with friends.

I’m not really into Champp’s food, but it was a sunny afternoon and I keep hearing how fantastic their patio is, so wanted to give it a try. The patio overlooks a pond with a big fountain — and it was windy, so the water from the fountain kept spraying onto us, which was completely gross. Beyond the pond, is a major road, so there was a lot of road noise. My salad was okay, but the iced tea was definitely machine made, and came in a small glass that they didn’t seem to like refilling. I definitely prefer the patio at Sunsets to this one.
