Cinco de Mayo is a blast, especially if you’re a kid. My dad took my sister and I a couple of times when we were little and I have this very clear memory of devouring tacos like crazy. Like, probably my weight in tacos. It was probably also one of those many times that he tricked me into eating lengua, which I never liked as a kid(but love now and probably loved then, if no one had told me the difference). Aside from tricking your kids into eating beef tongue, there’s also lots of other activities for families. I went last year with a friend and we missed the parade, unfortch. But we very much enjoyed the people watching, car show, live music and scarfing elote from El Burrito. Gracias to all the organizers who I’m sure work very hard to put this together each year!

«Bless the Lowered». I saw that in the paper last year. Last year J and I attended our first Cinco de Mayo in St. Paul. Too bad it rained the entire weekend. The main reason I attended was for the Low Rider car show. I have seen many of these vehicles tooling around my neighborhood, but have never actually seen spinning rims up close, or a car up on its side from its hydraulics. These are not the kind of cars that I personally would choose to own, but I do have an appreciation for what the owners of these vehicles put into their cars to make them look like this. It looks like a lot of work and they take pride in their vehicles as they should. Food vendors, free music, hydraulic show, lowrider car show, a beer garden if that’s your thing. This falls under try something I never thought I would. I can honestly say it was fun despite the rain… Let’s hope the weather cooperates for this years festival.
