Gamestop

Pppssshhhhhh. Whoever gave this location a bad score, I just have this to say: Haters gonna hate.
Let’s put it this way:
* for the last two years, I have used this Gamestop as my «go to» for all my video game needs.
* on average, the manfriend and I frequent this store probably about once every two — three weeks (yeah we’re mega-​nerd gamers. Whateevvzzz.)
* never once have I experienced anything that would be considered less than «good» customer service. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and pleasant to deal with.
* as a girl who has actively been playing video games since Doom I and MS-​DOS commands (no *gurl g4m3r* nonsense here), here is some indisputable truth: the gaming industry has a tendency towards misogyny. At way too many other Gamestops and video game stores in general, I’ve had to deal with condescension, eye-​rolling, and the assumption that I’m there buying a video game for my manfriend and not myself. I have never EVER experienced that kind of bs at this Gamestop location, and I really appreciate that.
* decent selection, decent deals, and has never had any stocking issues in my experience.
So if you happen to live nearby, this is a great place to satisfy your video game-​craving fix.

Have had on-​going good customer service at this location. I went into the store and Amber helped me greatly with my trade-​ins both efficiently and professionally. Russell and other male associates have answered my annoying phone calls cheerfully and helpfully.

I’ve had better luck at this Gamestop than others. A) they don’t try to sell me princess games (you may laugh but you’d be surprised how often Cooking Mama and Princess Peach was recommend to me…) and B) they’ve never tried to pressure me into buying anything. They’ll chat with me about games if I engage them in conversation. If I want to be left alone to browse the walls of games, they leave me alone. I had more or less given up on this chain till I discovered this store about a year ago.

I have been disappointed time and time again by this gamestop. I continually tell myself not to shop here any more, and like a sucker I keep going back. However, I can say that I am hereafter never supporting such awful retailers. Where to start? The service is awful at worst, mediocre at best. The staff is cold and unfriendly, and pretty unhelpful as well. The only time they ever engage you is to try and sell you add-​on crap like pre orders and magazine subscriptions. Umm, no thanks, really. Just recently I spent 10 minutes on the phone listening to the guy who answered yammer on about the playstation 3 to someone in the background, instead of checking for the game I asked about. Thanks guy.
Secondly, the prices are absolutely egregious. From my experience, used games usually sell for 90% of the retail price here. (A $ 60 PS3 game costs about $ 54 used) So fine, don’t buy used games from here right? Just get it new. Except their «new» games aren’t really new. During my last visit, I picked up a Nintendo DS game and brought it to the counter. The sticker on the display box said «new». The cashier grabbed the cartridge from behind the counter, and put it in the opened game box. Wow. For all I know that game could have been used, but they charged full price for it. This is unforgivable, and maybe even illegal.
I honestly can’t remember a time when I was ever satisfied by my experience at gamestop. The staff is comprised of reclusive gamers with little to no social skills, the prices are over-​the-​top, the trade-​in values are horrible, the whole experience couldn’t be worse. I STRONGLY recommend buying your games from
or some other outlet. You will end up paying almost twice as much at this hell hole.
I will close by saying this: I am a charitable person when it comes to judging other people’s skills and personalities. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to someone if they are acting like a jerk. Maybe they are having a bad day or something. However, this establishment has the WORST service I have seen in years. Consistently bad, every time. Avoid this place like the plague.
