When you walk in, just beyond the counter you might just see owner Kathleen at the giant mixer. She is just another reminder of how at one time St. Paul had a dominant Irish presence. With a culinary art form specializing in truffles, Grand Ave. has the luck of the Irish where the Mac-Groveland neighborhood starts. I just started coming to this shop, and already have my favorites, milk chocolate and key lime. Being a non drinker, this is the way I get my booze, with the rum, kahlua, etc. fillings. Many of these are dusted in a way that makes them eye appealing. I always grab a sea salted caramel stick at the counter. A house made truffle in all it’s purity makes much more sense than a piece of cake or even pie. I’m already thinking ahead for gifts from here.

WOW! Talk about amazing customer service! I ordered some truffles for my partner over Labor day weekend to have shipped and ready before Thursday of that week. Not only was it shipped, it was received on Tuesday. My partner said the truffles were amazing and was super excited to have received them. HIghly recommend this place especially if you are looking for something local and unique. The service is AMAZING! O, I already said that!

Oh my. This place is delicious! We bought the maple and crème de mint. Both were unbelievable and not too rich. The employees were very friendly too.

I had to go here because I did see something on one of those food shows and well I lived just a few blocks from here and it looks like a wonderful place in a big old victorian house. So my daughter and I took a break and decided we needed a truffle. Don’t get me wrong they have many flavors and you could actually see them making some off in the back… My problem was I don’t care if they wrap it in gold… I paid 16.00 for two truffles. 8.00 a piece… yes they were cute as a bugs ear in their own little box with a bow. But 8.00!!! They were good but not orgasmic and for that price I wanted to feel tingly all over…

What a fun, delightful place. A friend brought me a 4-pack of truffles from here one visit, and every time I’ve come to St. Paul since, I’ve stopped by here for a treat. Handmade chocolates. No crappy stuff, just good chocolate and good flavoring and plenty of it. I’ve tried several flavors — pears WIlliam, spiced chai, crème de menthe, amaretto — and been pleased by all. I recall one that had chile heat in it that was especially delightful, but I’m a sucker for chiles+chocolate. You’ll have to park on the street, but I’ve never had an issue finding a good parking spot. All in all, the kind of independent artisan shop you want to support when you’re visiting a new town. I’ll be back.

This place used to be just down the street-so it will always have a special place in my heart. That and Oprah gets her truffles from here-that’s enough for me! Love the Victorian house this chocolate place is in-when my husband and I were dating, one of our things to do was to go on a walk to get a truffle, and then hang out at the used book store down the street. Oh, yeah, we still do!(just not as often!) The truffles run about four bucks or so, and there’s a great assortment-especially of boozy ones. I have tried quite a bit, but i still think the classic chocolate one is the best. Tim is partial to the apricot brandy one. They also have white chocolate ones, but I’m not sure who would pick that over the real deal. They have other chocolates as well-but they get overshadowed. These are fantastic for gifts, but usually taste better on the way out the door, on a walk in the Spring, on the way to the bookstore.

Big, bodacious, creamy and dreamy were the four lush truffles I received as a gift from a visiting client — he packed them from St. Paul all the way to Philadelphia. Each chocolate was bigger than a golf ball and stuffed with a different flavored filling — my box had one each of Rum, Grand Marnier, Tenor’s Temptation and Strawberry Cheesecake. My favorite was the Strawberry Cheesecake, which was fresh and authentic tasting and even better than the real thing. The card that came in the box instructed me to keep my goodies refrigerated, but I disregarded that notion and suffered no ill effects, even in the excessively warm June weather we’ve had. This was a gift I really appreciated, being a unrepentant chocoholic, and one I would duplicate for a fellow cacao-addict.

Truly the best truffles I have ever had. I believe my favorite were the dark chocolate/sea salt. Salt and sweet. There just isn’t anything better combination. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is because of the customer service. Two younger women were working when I went in yesterday. Though I was waited on promptly, they certainly didn’t seem like they were having much fun. Being the customer service snob that I am, I want happy, sunshiney, waitstaff. At all times. People associate happiness with candy. Chocolate = happy. Have some fun. Jeesh!

How is it possible that nobody has written a review on this place yet!!! The truffles here are just amazing! When I need a special little treat this is my go-to for indulgence. Their selection of truffles is seductive and it is usually a struggle to «just get one». In fact — I don’t know if I have ever walked out of this place with the single truffle I intended on when I get back in my car. Seriously — You have got to try this place.
