5 star dive bar. Great prices, great selection of beer and booze. Outside patio is perfect. Inside is a throwback to all wood, ornate finishes. Food was awesome, try the gyros for sure!

Neumann’s is the kind of old school joint that I feel is slowly fading away with time. A place where the beer list isn’t 3 pages long. A place where a guy can go and have a few drinks without breaking a $ 50. A place where the bartender doesn’t run for a shot glass or a jigger to pour a cocktail. A place where you only need to see the menu once because it hasn’t changed in 50 years. A place that is, or was, on every main street of every small town in Minnesota. This is my place. Billed as the oldest continually running bar in Minnesota I just had to come take it all in.(and take in a few $ 2 drinks) I even got a history lesson on the place from the back of the menu. Come check out their patio, daily specials, and pet frogs. If you’re anything like me you’ll appreciate and love this place. I’ll be back for sure. p.s check with your doctor to make sure your heart is ready to enter the bathrooms ;)

Neumann’s Bar, at 127 years young, was the location for Matt G’s UYE: Happy Hour V4: Sunday Funday and it was a great choice. Our group enjoyed Sunday Drink Specials($ 2 for pretty much any drink from 2−4pm and 8−10pm), live music, and food, food, food! If it was fried, we ordered it and we were not disappointed. French fries, fried pickles, onion rings, tater tots(which were some of the best I’ve ever had: crispy on the outside and soft, like real mashed potatoes, on the inside) were devoured quickly. The 1⁄3 lb. burger was simple but delicious. The burgers are $ 1 on Mondays with a drink purchase. Know before you go: Divey, cash only bar with an ATM on site; Weekly food specials, Sunday Drink Specials, rotating calendar of live music; Clientele leans towards bikers and regulars. Check Neumann’s event calendar on the web before you go. Vintage nude art in the ladies’ and mens’ restrooms.

I’m so glad I came by for last night’s «UYE: Happy Hour V4: Sunday Funday» at Neumann’s Bar! Things to know about Neumann’s: — It’s the oldest bar in Minnesota — There is free street parking(2 hr limit in some spots) — They’re cash only(ATM on site w /$ 2 fee) — Sunday HH from 2−4pm and 8−10pm = $ 2 taps/rails — It’s a divey mcdiver dive Things you’ll find at Neumann’s: — A patio — Super cheap(but tasty!) food and drinks — Bikers — Live African bullfrogs, for some reason If you like fun, divey, and cheap, this is your spot! Service was a pretty spotty but that’s about it.

What a wonderful discovery. We are enjoying exploring some new bars thanks to our 2016 Pub Pass. I used to live in St. Paul and never even found this little area or bar in the past. They have bullfrogs, live music, a juke box, variety on the menu, and spirits and beer to wash it all down with. Our bar host of the day Marissa was the bombdiggity. She works hard and delivers service with a great attitude. I enjoyed a cheeseburger and could sit at the bar and watch it being cooked right in front of me. The guy working the grill was just busy as a bee that day and I have to say we were impressed with the hard work we witnessed and enjoyed listening to some jukebox tunes and chatting up the locals for a bit. Great bar!

Stopped in for a drink. The bartender informed us that it’s the oldest bar in Minnesota, seemed unrealistic! Had a few drinks however, I ordered a captain Coke, I saw the bartender pour my drink from the captain bottle, what I got wasn’t captain! I had to use the woman’s room because I couldn’t find the men’s room. We stopped in the next day for lunch. Very poor service. The cook is cooking in sight of the customers. Typically, this is ok. However, the cook went outside to smoke, he touched several door knobs, blew his nose and the cooked our order. He didn’t wash his hands nor did he wear gloves. Completely against all health codes! I paid the bartender because the server was MIA. The bartender called me «his bro». I’m not his bro! I’m a cash paying customer!

Historic bar(most say it is the oldest bar in Minnesota) in historic North St. Paul. Agree w the other reviewer that the staff weren’t the most attentive but the beer was cold and the prices right. Eclectic mix of patrons but mostly bikers. Patio was perfect on the one day I visited. I’ll be back if I ever find myself back in N. St. Paul.

Great neighborhood bar that has a long history. It’s been open since 1850s. We happened upon it when looking for a place to have a drink and a bite to eat with friends. Glad we did! Good food, friendly staff and great value. Might be a destination rather than a happy accident again soon.

Decent tacos, ok atmosphere. Cards are not excepted; surly wait staff will point out the ATM is available after getting your orders wrong, twice.

If you like the biker crown this place is for you. If not then there is some things to be desired. The staff isn’t the most welcoming and it can be kind of loud. But their burgers are well priced and the build your own burger option on Mondays is a great deal.

I love this place. Burgers are awesome and drink prices are reasonable. They also have a daily food special and they are often very good although I do periodically get something that makes me wish I had just ordered a burger. I’ve seen complaints about service and the biker clientele. My advice is to avoid the times when there is a biker event. Its pretty obvious when they occur since there will be dozens of high end Harleys out front. If the place is packed, the service suffers… just like any bar. My experience with the staff and patrons has always been good. There are a couple that might seem slightly rude or come off a little short with customers but again I think its just the result of getting busy. Everybody I’ve seen working here provides great service. I’m certainly not a regular but everytime I walk in I feel welcome. Its a friendly, comfortable place with great food and good drinks. Just remember to bring cash and avoid the crowds.

Pluses: * It’s a neighborhood bar with a lot of history, so it has a good vibe. * It’s inexpensive. * Dollar Burgers(greasy!) on Monday evenings. Minuses: * Service can be weak. * It can get crowded. Recent example: I ordered a beer at the bar and offered my credit card. The bartender told me that it’s cash only. Period. Not another word. Another bar patron, who was standing next to me and heard this, graciously pointed me to an ATM in the back. We were both bemused that the bartender didn’t offer me this information. I guess the bartender wasn’t strongly motivated to sell me a beer.

Love Neumans. Very friendly staff. The cooks work the griddle behind the bar and are a good bunch. Bartenders are outgoing and competent. The food is great if you’re into greasyspoon-type burgers and such. In fact, they’re very good. The BLT’s are huge and on texas toast. This bar is Cash Only– no cc’s no debit and no checks. They do have an onsite ATM though.

I LOVE this bar! Neumans= inexpensive drinks, good bar food, & a fun ambiance & mix of people. My choice for Sunday Funday! & whenever I am in the area. Neumans is a small bar with claims to being the oldest bar in MN. Bikers frequent this bar, but so does everyone else in NSP. There is a small stage for live music, a cute alley-way patio off the west side of the building, & live frogs in a pond in the the front window. Still haven’t quite figured out why the frogs are there, but I have come to appreciate them :) The drinks are cheap & the bar food is good, featuring all things fried(cheese, pickles, etc.), burgers, & sandwiches. Check it out if you’re in the area.

Cozy, friendly bar. Plain but not a dive. Supposedly the oldest bar in Minnesota. Dunno about that, it had a tin ceiling and moose heads on the walls. Listened to Black Cat Bone playing blues, loud but fun. Food here is great greasy bar fare. Stopped here Tuesday evening after bicycling with a group. Daily special was 3 coneys for $ 5. It’s an insane amount of food, not just three hot dogs – nope, three coarse-ground sausages on buns smothered with chili and cheese. Several people shared. BLT sandwiches are ginormous things on Texas toast with iceberg lettuce and tons of thick-cut bacon spilling out. Fries here were not my fave but a woman in my group said, «I like these because they’re a little overcooked.» I read negative reviews about this place saying it was a biker bar. Don’t believe it. There were a few bikes in front but a nice mix of patrons from twenty somethings thru bikers to middle-aged suburbanites. Everyone seems welcome here. Service was super friendly, quick, and accommodating.

A old bar with alot of history, a cool outdoor patio bar durining warmer months they have a small corner stage for bands on the weekends and they still know how to bring a crowd, they have real good food I love the burgers, HAMM’S ONTAP! Bull frogs in the window box Frank behind the bar, some might consider this a biker bar but the bikers you will find here all have jobs during the week and ride there $ 35,000 bikes on the weekends they are not out looking for trouble like the bikers your thinking of there just out to have a good time Leather don’t make them all bad A$$‘s if your in the area I recomend it it’s a fun bar with good food!
