The only reason I give this a 3 is because my husband got the hamburger and said it was delicious. We were passing through St. Paul and this was the first drive through restaurant we’d seen in several hundred miles. It was past dinner time so we stopped at the drive thru. My mom and I got the #1, runza combo. We figured if it was their main specialty it would be good. Boy were we wrong! It was disgusting! It tasted like a strange meat mixture slapped on soggy bread. Neither one of us could finish. This tastes like something you have to grow up on to like. After further research I see they are comparable to bierocks which my grandmother used to make. Bierocks were never my favorite but I don’t remember them being this disgusting. The restaurant did look clean so I give it credit for that. If you’ve never had a runza before I suggest ordering something else.

Heeeeey… this is new. Geez, first, Nesiba’s Restaurant becomes Peters Funeral Home, and then we get a Runza on the main drag? I need to come home more often. Runza is to Nebraska what Chipotle is to Denver. It’s been here forever, you probably had one as a kid, and you’re likely old enough to be taking your own kids now. Friday, we had three generations in the same room enjoying the doughy, meaty, onion and cabbagey goodness of a Runza sandwich with those yummy Frings(fries + onion rings, because nobody should ever have to choose!) This spot is great because it has a drive thru plus served cod sandwiches for Lent. I have to wonder how much traffic they see from the local high school? Only thing I skipped was the creamy milkshake. Then again, eight hours isn’t THAT long of a drive for friendly service and a multigenerational meal experience.
