Sandy’s Dog and Cat Grooming was easy to do business with. I called on a friday to see if I could make a weekend appointment. They returned my call on Monday and provided a same-​day appointment. They told me that it would take 2 – 3 hours to groom my labradoodle — and they completed on time. The end result was exactly what I was looking for.
The shop is dingy, but the staff is friendly. Since the shop seems a bit gloomy, it wouldn’t be my first pick for boarding my dog ($ 20 per day).

This is clearly a small independent shop, which I generally like to support unfortunately I cannot support this place. I dropped my pup off to get a bath, brushed (cause she is shedding like crazy), trimmed around her bum, and nail trim. The place is run down, the door barely shuts, there seemed to be too many dogs running around for such a small place, and not very clean. They were able to squeeze her in with little notice and did finish early. But my dog was still shedding like crazy, seemed barely dry, they shaved her belly for god knows what reason??? — which is now irritated, her nipple was clearly grazed by the razor, they trimmed her fur and her tail — not what should be done and now looks like a crazy jagged mess. The shaved around her anus, which is now seriously irritated. My dog is now suffering and I feel terribly guilty for bringing her there.

Sandy and staff are awesome — organized, friendly, helpful, courteous, professional. And our cat loves his lion cuts! They do a great job, and we’ve never been let down after many years of bringing him to Sandy’s. Highly recommended.

Sandy and staff are always helpful, kind and has love for my dog.
She is one of the few groomers that will shave the dogs feet as I desire then to be.
Every Time I pick him up, I just can’t stop kissing his beautifully groomed face.

I’m glad I checked Angie’s List before going here. Many complaints on file. One even said she picked her cat up with bloody paws! Avoiding this place altogether for my beloved feline.

WHOEVER AMBER IS THAT WORKS THERE NEEDS TO BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY!!! REALLY WISH I COULD GIVE NO STARS!!!
Went to take my grandma’s very skiddish elderly cat in on 3÷14÷13 for a lion cut first thing in the AM at 9. There had been a dusting of snow the night before (nothing to hinder hours upon hours of traffic). Well, we showed up and the frazzled worker informed us that Amber was stuck in traffic and would be about 15−20min late. Okay, no big deal, people forget how to drive when any precipitation hits the ground, so we decided to wait (from what the frazzled worker’s facial expression and the relay to Amber of our desire to wait and the muffled response from Amber, we knew something was up). Half an hour later I hear the frazzled worker talking to Amber asking «well what should I tell them?». Frazzle McGee bluntly and matter of factly said «well, I don’t know what to tell you, but Amber is in a ditch and she doesn’t know what to tell you either». …are you kidding me? That’s your answer? I get it, things happen. But the way things were handled were EXTREMELY unprofessional.
We left and my mother called back to talk to Sandy, and lo and behold, AMBER answered the phone. Apologized profusely, and my mother for some reason being in a forgiving mood, accepted. Asked if there was any at home services available since we didn’t want to traumatize our poor kitten again with another unnecessary car ride. She said of course and scheduled a home grooming for today (3÷19÷13) at 10am and that she would call the day before (yesterday) to confirm.
And here we are. ½ hour into the supposed appointment (with no day before confirmation) and I have gotten word from my mother (who stayed home from work to make sure everything went okay), that Amber has fallen ill and won’t be able to make it! Not only a crappy driver, but cursed with a weak immune system (also, not to mention she’s a piss poor excuse for an employee). We’re now waiting on the owner Sandy to supposedly make an appearance and help our poor baby as a last ditch final effort. Stay tuned.

Sandy’s is generally not a bad place and for the most part I’ve had good service there. The last time we brought our dog in for a haircut, they trimmed his nails even though they were already pretty short and as a result he was injured a little bit. But he survived so it’s ok. When we dropped him off, I really got the impression that the person we spoke with was under a lot of stress or something and came off as very rude and short-​tempered. Maybe there was some other issue, but didn’t like being spoken to as though they wanted us to just give them the dog and get the hell out.
Overall I like Sandy’s and think that they have done a good job. We can get out of there with a relatively low bill and they always give him a nice haircut. We’ll keep going but hope that the incident that happened the last time we visited was a one-​time deal.

Very friendly and affordable grooming. I have been bringing my cat here to get her occasional lion cut for awhile now and they have always done a good job.
They don’t use any tranquilizers, etc. and you can tell they genuinely care about animals. They also offer grooming for your pooch and I think they might offer boarding services as well.

I called today to check availability and prices and when I said that I would call back and let her know, she hung up on me! RUDE!

Cats are embarrassed to admit that they like lion cuts. The cut looks kind of silly but is just the trick for an indoor cat or to manage the summer heat. The key is not to laugh at your cat after his haircut. Just tell him how handsome he is and he will believe you. This worked even for Moose, the bruiser ex-​alley cat.
Sandy’s is the place for the Lion Cut. Good people, good prices, good grooming. They also groom dogs, but I can’t help you there.

I decided that my huge cat Carlos needed a hair cut for the summer months due to his amount of fur. I was unsure of where to take him but happened to drive by Sandy’s and wrote down their number. After looking them up on Unilocal,I made an appointment and dropped my cat off. I was nervous at first leaving him considering I had to leave him in a cage very similar to the one at Humane Society where I found him but it was necessary. I called a couple of hours after dropping him off to see how he was and Carlos was not having a good time. It took 2 staff to hold him for his cut and after he saw a dog, became inconsoleable and they could not give him a bath. So I picked him up immediately and was shocked at the result. I am not sure what I thought Carlos would have looked like with a lion cut but it is definately not a good look on him and you can tell Carlos feels the same. I blame myself.
The staff were very friendly and gave some good suggestions for the next time to help alleviate some of Carlos’ anxiety. I was very happy that they were able to trim what they did since Carlos was having issues. I will be definitely taking him back but for a less wild hair cut and for more of a trim.
A word to the wise: When I brought Carlos home with his new do, our other cat BK started screaming and growling at Carlos. Apparently, cats can sense angst and react unfavorably to new scents. So a heads a up for those with multiple cats.

I’ve taken my loooong-​haired trained attack kitten to Sandy’s for his biannual trim for a few years now. Always terrific service, but my first experience was what really hooked me…
I walked into the tiny cottage with my hairy 3 year-​old. Both of us were mightily unsure of wtf we were getting ourselves into. He was all napped out on his mane and undercarriage after several semi-​successful Great Escapes. Sandy explained that shaving him would be no problem. BUT, did I (we?) want the Lion Cut?
This question really threw me for a loop. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to pronounce the beast King of the Jungle. As usual, he was not helpful. So we turned to Sandy for her professional opinion:
«9 out of 10 cats prefer the Lion Cut.»
SOLD. When I picked him up, he looked kind of ridiculous, but I was honestly amazed at how much more social he was in those first few weeks. This trend has continued following every visit.
The stylist (not Sandy) mentioned that he was the best cat she has ever groomed, gave me her card, and asked that I request her services next time I’m there. It is entirely possible she says this to everyone, but it definitely worked on me.
The cat loves it. He looks like a King. The price is around $ 55 (check the website for a $ 5 off coupon), but it’s a locally-​owned business and they do a terrific job.

They did a terrific job with my schnauzer and were very friendly. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars us because it was more expensive than my own haircut.

POSTIVES:
1). They always seem to be able to squeeze your beloved companion into their schedule.
2). They listen to you … and they remember what you have asked of them.
3). They give a realistic estimate of how long the grooming will take and what it will cost you.
4). They do a great job, they are consistent, and they are reasonably priced.
5). You can tell they really love the animals.
NEGATIVES: None that I can think of.
No other groomer has done as good of job removing my dog’s ear hair and trimming his nails. Both of which are difficult tasks knowing how my boy is.
