Good for a quick burger when you are looking for options outside of the drive-thru variety. The black bean burger is alright, if the patty is not twice the size of your bun(and super thin), and the ability to build your own burger at a decent price is always good. Overall, a good stop, but not on my regular rotation of burger spots. Bonus: The sweet potato fries are not thick cut so they can actually be crisp instead of mushy.

Here at 7:30 on a Monday night and 8 of the 10 available tables in our section have leftovers on them. And the«fresh» silverware is dirty. Then there’ the pile of debris behind the counter — yuck! The only saving grace is that the food was quick and tasty.

Food is decent Service is spotty at best Complain online and they try to make it right. So I guess that’s worth something.

The guy in the back, that was cooking burgers, decided to grab his groin and adjust himself very noticeably and then grabbed the bun for our burger. Nasty. Long haired dude. I will not come here ever again.

So glad this place is down the street! Excellent made-to-order burgers and a very good crispy chicken sandwich. One of those places where you order at the register then they bring it out to you. Been there a dozen times and never waited more than a few minutes. They also have a great staff. Not only do they know the menu but they actually seem happy to be there — a rare thing these days. Only a dollar or two more than McD’s and well worth it. Hard to believe but there is no wi-fi. Not a problem since you can login to Bruegger’s or Caribou next door…

This location has always been FANTASTIC. If you’re in the area, go to this place instead of The Chatterbox. Long story short, I took my family to The Chatterbox last night and paid $ 65 for food for all of us. the Chattterbox was horrible. In hindsight, I wish that I would have taken my family to this Smash Burger, which is only about two blocks away. == Review of The Chatterbox posted below. I took my family here last night. The service was fine, but the quality of food was atrocious. The last time I visited this establishment the menu was higher-quality. In the past, they had options for grass fed beef and locally sourced ingredients. I was shocked when I saw that the menu has been rolled back to something from a few years ago. We ordered a pizza, a burger, and the burger sliders off the kids menu. When the food was delivered, it was obvious that only the cheapest ingredients were used to make the food. The pizza is no longer served on real pizza crust, but is now a flatbread. Also, the cheese used on the burger is a cheap plastic like American white cheese. Our entire family felt sick after leaving. It is especially a bummer when you have spent $ 65 on a meal, only to have everyone feel sick as the takeaway from the experience. I wish that I could return everything we ate for a full refund. For $ 65, I could’ve taken my family to Smash Burger twice and gotten much better quality food.

The last two times I’ve been to the Highland Park location(both off hours — after 7:30 at night) the service was slow and the food was cold and stale. Fries were so stale even my son(who never passes up a fry) wouldn’t eat them. Burgers were cold and also tasted old. The second time this happened I sent a complaint to the store manager and corporate HQ and didn’t get a response from either. Yuck.

I finally got around to trying Smashburger a few weeks ago and it was a really tasty burger. I opted for the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger and it was very juicy(dripped everywhere). The bun was nice and soft and complimented the burger perfectly. I also had a side of sweet potato fries, and the staff suggested I try them with a spicy aioli sauce… the sweet and heat were a dangerously good combo. The staff was super friendly. There are some cons: the patties are like four ounces, so don’t expect to be very full when you leave. Also, while they do offer more upscale toppings than Culver’s and Sonic, I didn’t think the burger patty itself was any better than theirs. This is not an insult– I love Culver’s. This joint won’t be a part of my regular burger rotation unless I’m craving something different in the toppings department, because there are equally good burgers around town that offer better value. I’ll certainly go back, though(and order a double next time). The place also has a very fast food vibe, which made drinking a beer with my meal feel a little awkward.

Food is good– usually. If you use their slick online ordering, however, be aware they will likely make your order right away– vs when you want to pick it up– resulting in ICECOLDFOOD. ICE. COLD. I would only eat in. Don’t waste your time on ordering unless you want to pick it up in 30 seconds. The burgers are good– but do not ever order for pick up. You will be sorely disappointed.

Don’t waste your time ordering online because it still won’t be ready when you get there. On my third and final visit last Sunday, I even waited an extra five minutes to go into the store, but still waited another 20 minutes to get my food since you have to prepay online. The burgers are over-priced and taste a lot like Dairy Queen. So, I’ll just be going to Dairy Queen from now on.

This was the worst. Normally they are slow, but tonight I waited an hour in store for my order placed online. Many people were upset and the atmosphere was tense. I got the food home and it was wrong. What was supposed to be a burger was a chicken sandwhich. The fried pickles were soggy and cold. Even the lemonade was sour somehow. The chicken we did get was a laughable piece of meat. We also got a Cobb salad, and the egg put off a toxic nuclear smell. We threw away most of the«food». Steer clear. A lot of of those businesses in highland park have crappy service.

Nice people, good service but dear gawd the food was dreadful. I ordered the grilled chicken club… the chicken was a square patty. It bore no resemblance to any chicken I’ve ever seen. Plus, it was tasteless. If it weren’t for the abundance of mayonnaise and other seasonings I suspect the sandwich would have no flavor at all. I do regret that the lettuce, tomato, bacon and avocado were saturated by the mayonnaise & seasonings. I arrived at Smashburger an optimist and left disappointed.

I finally get a chance to attend a Unilocal’s Elite event(actually it is my first one) and it was a TOTAL Social Smash(look I made a joke, get it — let just move on before my community leader, Jonathan T remove my ‘Elite’ status). This event was at a Smashburger location in St. Paul which also happens to be the same day as National Burger day(How I didn’t know this?!). I can’t imagine any restaurant willing to host a food test to a bunch of hard core critics let alone a social event. Keep in mind most of the Unilocaler Elites are food critics… This equivalent to hosting a bunch weight watchers to a pizza buffet convention. Needless to say, SmashBurger didn’t disappoint. Their appetizers were all amazing: their unique French Fries, deep fried pickles(reminds me the state fair), fried vegetables(a major delight)… We were given ¼ portions of 7 of their burgers… This equivalent to eating almost 2 burgers, appetizers and later deserts… Beside the wonderful host and hospitality, I distinctly remember having a near out of body experience when I ate the Swish Mushroom Burger… Oh MY! I think I talking to SarahH at the time and said something to the affect after my first bite of that burger, «…Not trying to be rude, but you excuse me for a moment, I am going to stop talking now… I like to be left alone with this burger…» I was in blitz. Yes, that is disturbing on every level. In short, many thanks to Jonathan for organizing the whole event and get all the Elite together. It was so nice to meet everyone face to face and just as important meeting a new set of friends. A special thanks to SmashBurger’s crew for being such wonderful hosts, especially the Greg Creigton, Chief Operating Officer of Smash Burger. All you guys were simply AMAZING. You guys have officially made a fan out of me.

I love their burgers. Always tasty, hot and juicy. The service is quick and friendly. You can’t go wrong with a Smashburger. One day, I might try other menu items, but I can’t tear myself away from their burgers. Also? They have beer!

3 Stars Overall, 5 stars for the Smashfries. I hate Five Guys. I just don’t understand what people see in their greasy ass burgers. But Smashburger is fine by me. I kind of feel the same way about Smashburger as I do about Starbucks. It’s never going to be my first choice, but when I just want to eat now, I know that it will be reliably okay. I also love the Smash Chicken with the buffalo and blue cheese. Mmm.

Sometimes, I just want a burger. I have needs. I had a BOGO coupon for this place, had not tried it out before. They had a spicy jalapeño burger, which I ALWAYS end up going for, anywhere I find it. I love a restaurant that has free toppings– gold star! The burger was perfect. Juicy, topping laden, melty cheese. Mm. And they have big and small sizes, which is a perk for a little lady like me. The server/cashier was beyond friendly, they offer beer. I’m happy. I think I expected this place to be a glorified Burger King, but it certainly was not!

These guys offer a pretty solid fast food burger. The burger itself is cooked to order, and topped generously the way you like. I happen to like a bacon cheeseburger, and the Smashburger variant was big, hot and a helluva lot of goodness, with a nice char on the outside. I was pleased that the bun had some heft to it and didn’t just come apart in my hands – I hate that. I tried the«Smashfries»(fries tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic) but found the added oil and herbs didn’t add anything amazing to the mix. Next time I’d stick with the stock fries. Employees are friendly and service oriented. The restaurant space is clean and doesn’t give off that McAtmosphere that we all know and hate. I like this place.

I had a Groupon for this place so when I happened to be in Highland, I used it. I was on a healthy kick at the time, so I ordered two Cobb salads and a burger. The Service was awesome; They packed the food very nicely in a large Smashburger bag with a handle, like a shopping bag. I am so easily impressed with bags! The guy who brought me the bag was super friendly, thanked me for coming, etc. The food, on the other hand, was not so good. I have eaten at Smashburger before but always ordered Burgers and Fries so the salads were new to me and obviously, to them as well. The Cobb salad was OK, but unusual. It had a hard fried egg on top. That was weird to see but looking back at the menu, it does say that. It was probably one of the worst salads I had eaten in awhile but what did i expect from a place that specializes in Burgers? Enough said about that. What i do like here are the fried pickles, smashfries, and Burgers(Twin Cities Burger and BBQ Bacon Burger are our faves). I do not like the chicken sandwiches. If you stay with what they are known for, you will be OK.

One of my favorite things about Smashburger is the staff. Sounds goofy when reviewing food, but it’s nice to be taken care of. Even though you order at the counter, they come by and ask how you’re doing, clean away empty plates etc. Now the food: I always get the burger with blue cheese, fried onions. It really is heaven people. And I think it’s one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Not too greasy-not to dry. Fries? Tasty Tasty Perfect

More of a 3.5. The place had a strange smell to it; kind of like dirty dish towels. Hopefully it was just a one time thing. The customer service at Smashburger is always great! I will give it that. Very friendly and helpful staff helping out to place an order. Took advantage of my BOGO offer. I was pleasantly surprised to get one in my email. I didn’t know I had signed up to be part of the club, but I guess I must have. Very inexpensive which is nice. Burgers were ok. A tad on the greasy side. Fried pickles were a tad on the salty side. Maybe like the odd smell, the burgers and sides were just having an odd day.
