St. Paul Curling Club

Great place and historic, but the service from the waitress Kris isn’t all that great. Every time we’ve eaten here the same waitress, which is the only one working, takes her break at 6pm and eats her food. I am all for breaks, but maybe you shouldn’t park your truck in the middle of rush hour traffic. You know what I mean? Food is good, beer is good, curling is excellent, service blurg! I will keep coming, but know your expectations. :)

This place is awesome and so is curling. If you haven’t tried it, don’t knock it. It’s way more physical than you would think. My office had a Christmas party here and it was so much fun. Upstairs they have a «bar» and a viewing area to watch the folks down on the ice try not to break something.
You won’t if you’re careful.
The people who run the show are very serious about curling, but helpful and educational. We had a really good time, although it was probably a little like herding cats when my group was there… not my fault! I can follow directions.
If you are looking for something different to do for a group or party, I highly recommend curling.

GREAT TIMES!!! I came here with co-​workers and this place rocks. We had a pitcher of beer and finished that up. Afterwards, we went downstairs after the owner said we could try it out before it closed up. It was hilarious seeing my co-​workers trying to throw with a crutch and then scrub down the line. I can guarantee that nobody will be disappointed if they never seen this before.

We had a blast covering the Winter Carnival Mixed Bonspiel at the St. Paul Curling Club. Everyone was very friendly, and the SNL themed event certainly helped bring out the best in people. The organizers of the event, Gregor and Amy, were hospitable and gave us everything that we could possibly need.
As for the club itself, the ice sheets, stones, and building seemed perfectly maintained. But the club is much more than just curling, as the upstairs bar and lounge area is fantastic. They have viewing windows to watch curling, a giant TV for sports, and great drink prices. The food is also fantastic, and would be a great place to come with friends.
And if you can’t bear to miss one second of curling action, they even have a viewing window in the men’s bathroom!

The club has been in this location for 99 years! And has been in Minnesota for about 125 years.
For a team building event at work, our division went curling yesterday. This was my first time curling and will not be my last! The staff was very informative and worked with us to help us learn about the game and to most importantly, have a lot of fun.
This is a must try… someday I might join one of their leagues!

This place is awesome! I’ve been curling in the spring league and the ice is always in great shape. I’ve never had a bad curling experience here.
Curling aside, this is a hidden gem. Upstairs is a cozy, cabin-​like clubhouse. Pitchers are cheap ~$ 6 for domestic and ~$ 8 for summit (and right now brooklyn). So far, everything I’ve tried on the menu has been excellent as well. A lot of the items are homemade, portions are hefty and prices are reasonable. They have TVs all over so you can catch up on games or even watch some of the curling action on the ice below. People are friendly and everyone is always up for a round of drinks after the match.
Another huge plus is they don’t mind if you BYOB. You can bring liquor, beer, wine, whatever you want. They’ll even give you a bowl of ice and soda to mix your drinks. Even if you don’t bring your own, you can’t go wrong with the pitcher prices here.

I went with an office group of about 10 never-​been-​curling-​before people. We had a great time! Instruction was useful for the novice, instructors were very helpful and patient — a good time was had by all. This experience really made me appreciate Olympic curling, this is a lot harder than you would think. If you don’t drink here, easy to retire to the Happy Gnome, directly across the parking lot.

Surprisingly fun. Who knew curling was fun? Good food too.

Wonderful relaxed atmosphere.
Should have walked in YEARS ago as was my inclination, but the curling club really has this kind of aire about it, like a members only kinda vibe (from the outside that is).
Inside is a treat, just as Kevin mentioned.

I was so excited I called my brother in Florida, who knows nothing of ice except in his drink to give a verbal Unilocal.
He asked if I double parked my sleigh outside, and had a fur helmet on.

With the beginning of Curling season upon us, I feel I must bring this club to people’s attention. Rich in history, steeped in tradition, tucked into the lovely Cathedral Hill neighborhood on Selby Ave, it is one reason why I always look forward to the onset of Autumn.
Even if you don’t curl, their cozy club room upstairs offers some of the cheapest pitchers in town (and for our Canadian curling friends: LaBatt on tap!), and their kitchen offers some cold-​weather bar food favorites. Downstairs on the warmer side of the floor to ceiling glass dividing icey competition from temperate conversation, they have amidst the trophy cases and the pro shop some über-​comfy leather sofas to lounge on while watching the Canadian satellite T.V. (the only way they can get all the bonspiels here in the states).
The catch? you have to either be a member or a guest to enjoy their hospitality. So find yourself a nice curling friend, or get a broom and start throwing rocks, because you won’t want to leave once you discover this place.
