Strauss Skates

Awesome service! I was referred to Strauss by a skating instructor to purchase a new pair of skates. Allan was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and really helped me to become more educated about ice skating. I ended up getting a pair of skates that were about $ 10 less than the same skates on Amazon… plus sharpening was included in the price. Overall, great experience!

Fast, friendly bike repair!
Brought my son’s bike in for repair. The chain had come off and he managed to tangle it into a mess that couldn’t be unraveled.
I dropped in on a Saturday morning and was helped right away. The employee looked at it, asked if I could wait 15 minutes while he fixed it. Sure enough, 15 minutes later and he had repaired the chain and had it functional again.
They only charged $ 5 for the repair. Good luck getting friendly, fast repair while you wait at a bigger bike shop! Thanks, Strauss!

My husband and I have been wanting to buy good quality bikes for casual trail riding and we checked out bikes at Target and even seriously considered buying Northrock bikes at Costco. But after doing the requisite online research, we learned to avoid buying adult bikes at any big box stores so we found Strauss Skates & Bikes on google and decided to see if we could get a decent bicycle for the $ 300+ for each bicycle we had planned to pay at Costco.
We loved our experience at Strauss for many reasons. 1. They didn’t make us feel
like bozos for not knowing too much about bikes like they do at a lot of other bike shops 2. The staff are patient, friendly and lots of fun, especially Bill! And they seemed genuinely interested in helping us find the right bikes. 3. The staff also genuinely seemed knowledgeable about every bike they sold. 4. They went above and beyond by installing our bike rack on our car. And by extending our 90 day tune-​up period to 1 year!
While I think u could find lower prices on some of the bikes at places like Dicks or
Online, I would rather pay a few extra $$ knowing the bike was assembled properly and being able to have things adjusted immediately at the shop.

When you have a son who is obsessed with getting better at ice hockey, you spend a lot of time looking for the best resources. Strauss is the best resource we have found in the Twin Cities. All the important customer service adjectives apply: generous, knowledgeable, and easy to deal with, and better store hours than most. There are stores that are 20 minutes closer to us – but this is a drive that I am happy to make.

Before making the drive out there recently, I called first to ask about the availability of women’s figure skates (for recreational use) that would fit a typical 8.5−9 shoe size and I was told they had plenty from which to choose. Once I got there that same afternoon, though, I found they really did not have much to choose from (a young man assisted me).
When I mentioned that one of their employees told me over the phone earlier something to the contrary, an older man over-​heard. A few minutes later, he returned from their backroom with a pair of skates a slight bit bigger than what I required and said it’s a now-​discontinued model, but it was «better» than the replacement model because it was all leather, and he offered me a considerable discount on it for any inconvenience — if I felt the fit was good.
So I tried on the skates and walked around a bit, and noticed some movement in the heel area. They offered to do a heat treatment in their heat box which helps mold the skate more to a foot. I accepted their offer, took off the skates and waited several minutes while the skates heated up. The young man returned to help me quickly put on the skates and lace them up and then sit 5 minutes while they cooled down, leaving me with the impression that he would return when the 5 minutes were up so that I could walk around again to see how the skates felt. I probably waited more like 10 minutes and the young man did not return; however, the older man came by to tell me I could walk around now.
The skates felt better after the heat treatment. Since I was offered a deal I found hard to refuse, and because of the apparent good quality of the skates, I decided to purchase them.
Next thing, the young man brought the skates to the back of their store for sharpening. I waited for what seemed to be an inordinate amount of time and after a while, even asked about the status of the sharpening. A few minutes later, the skates were brought to me. I found there was a burr on one of the blades and I voiced my concern. I walked to the back of the store with the young man and asked for the burr to be smoothed. After a tentative attempt by the young man behind the counter, the job ended up receiving the attention of the seemingly more practiced man to remove the burr and he did so quickly and confidently.

Very friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. I recently had my 15-​year-​old Trek bicycle in for some much-​needed repairs. The staff was friendly and they had my bike done in 3 days. My only negative about the experience was that in fixing my gear shift, I noticed that they wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape. Not sure what that was about, but the staff is to kind and attentive, I would definitely go back.

Strauss is a really great place to shop for skates and bikes. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable and interested in everyone who comes through the door. I decided to purchase a bike and went to Eric’s bike shop first and was not impressed, they made me feel like I wasn’t good enough to be in their shop. Strauss made me feel like they cared about me getting the right kind of bike and being happy with my purchase. I will definitely shop here again and will tell anyone I know who is in need of a bike or skates to shop here. If you want the best customer service from a bunch of really nice people, shop here. You won’t be dissappointed!
