Tay ho. tay ho.it’s off to work we go.wait.I have no idea if that even makes sense in this context but Tay Ho is a pretty decent place to go if you need to get your fix of Vietnamese food. Probably not the first place that would come to mind if I had a craving, but it’s good enough to hit the spot. Definitely a no frills type place but you may get some thrills if you order way too much food like Regina V. and I did when we decided to grab a quick bite before a late night work sesh. You’ll find your typical Vietnamese restaurant staples here(Phở, Bun Bo Hue. Broken rice platters, Hu Tieu, stir frys, egg noodle soups, and your various fried appetizers like spring rolls, egg rolls, and chicken wings). Here’s the run down of what we ordered during our most recent visit: Spring rolls: standard spring rolls, the bbq pork was not that flavorful, but the peanut sauce made it better. Chicken wings: great light and crispy batter, juicy meat. DONOTPUTTHEMINYOURMOUTH as soon as they put the plate down because you will burn your mouth cause those babies come straight outta the fryer. Mix the sweet and sour sauce with the hot oil chili peppers and BAM! instant awesome sauce. OMG I feel iike Guy Fieri all of a sudden. By this point, Regina and I were already crazy full so we instantly regretted what came next. Bun Bo Hue: A HUGE portion. ORDERONEBOWL for two people unless you want to be rolled out of the restaurant like that girl from Willy Wonka who turned into a fat blueberry. A little bland for my taste but that’s why fish sauce exists. This had all the correct fixin’s with it so I won’t complain. BBH is something you customize to make your own cause everyone eats it their own way. It even came with pig’s feet, which is recommended if you want to eat it the authentic way. About 10 minutes later, this dish came out which we had completely forgotten we ordered… Seafood pan fried noodles: Good flavor, super crispy noodles, OK seafood included. The shrimp was probably the best part but the squid and fish balls and extra soft scallops threw me off. I’m used to fish pieces, octopus, and bigger/firmer scallops(i.e. Shuang Cheng has better SPFN). I’d suggest ordering this with the crispy noodles on the side so you can take it to go! Honestly though at this point we were suffering from intense food comas so it was really hard to enjoy this dish. Service was fast and friendly. There’s a parking lot on the side of the building.

Let’s get straight to the point the phở here was okay. I feel like i’ve had better experiences else where. I felt like the phở was really watery and it didn’t have much flavor. Not only that, the fried chicken wings weren’t even seasoned. The servers occasionaly asked us if we needed more water, which was nice. Overall, it was a okay experience.

One of the best Vietnamese places on University Avenue(and I’ve been to all of ‘em). Low prices, very friendly service and the food is so flavorful and good!

Great, prompt service. Liked they were open later than most places on Sunday evening. Phở was very light and balanced in flavor; good color broth. Decent cuts of meat(I had the p7, brisket and rare beef). Also, egg rolls were good. Food came out quickly.

Service is friendly. Broth is prob one of my favorites in town and prices very reasonable. This was my first time but won’t be my last. I’d say their broth is what will keep me as a frequent customer.

I am a fan of their Bun Mi sandwiches and Vermicelli Salad! Their lunch combo is pretty huge for a cheap price. This is my default phở place. One of the hostess recognizes me and is always very personable. I have a great experience most of the time here!

Their Bun Bo Hue is pretty good at this location. I always order the Bun Bo Hue here. The phở here is okay not the best but it’s okay if you’re craving for phở. I have to say their chicken wings here are huge! For the price that I am praying for them is totally worth it. The Bun Mi’s are pretty decent here too and the bread tastes pretty good.

I’ve been here twice and I’d say it’s the best phở I’ve had. If you like trieu chau then you will love this one. The phở broth is sweet and so delicious I’d eat it everyday. They have fast service so it’s good if you’re in a rush. I’d definitely keep, coming back for more.

The phở was pretty good and so were the eggrolls. I went during lunch on a week day so it was a little busy.

I’ve been going to this place since it opened and it’s the best Vietnamese restaurant on University. The Bun Bo Hue is delish! Phở has never let me down and have you tried their Banh Mi? If you haven’t gone there yet, drop everything and go now!

So I came in around 7PM really looking to get some Bun bo Hue, but they were out of the meat to make it! Oh well, I decided that I couldn’t go wrong with Phở, banh mi, and egg rolls. Tay Ho is now concretely in my favorite places to get banh mi. The meat was fire and the bread was perfect. The egg rolls were absolutely on point, I would recommend trying them. The phở was just confusing to me however. It tasted like great phở broth that someone just poured some water in. Like it was almost translucent! Everything else in it was fine though, and it really wasn’t bad after I sriracha’d it lol.

I stopped by during lunch rush on a Monday after the Christmas weekend. Whew, busy. The wife and I got the spring rolls to start with and 2 P1s(phở special). No pictures as most of you knows how it looks like. The phở came with all the fixings; basil, jalapeño, bean sprouts, lime. I personally love the phở here they have an authentic taste to it. The spring rolls are freshest can be. Service was a little slow but friendly on a busy day. Always will be one of my first place to choose from for phở off of Uni.

This place is really close to work so I’m here a lot during lunch. It always satisfies my Vietnamese craving-which I have often. It isn’t may favorite spot on University so if I have more time I like venture further west but Tay Ho always proves to be quick and delicious. I’m never disappointed.

The Bun Bo Hue is the best in town. The salad is fresh. The coconut is fresh. The only complain is that they have only one size but if you hungry, why not go for a second bowl.

UPDATE: No longer a 3 stars. Now a 5 stars. It no longer stinks. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - I’ll start with the worst — big ol’ F for décor and sticky table. A++ for awesome phở and food. I’ve been here twice this week for lunch and the tables are always sticky. I hate that feeling, but the food is amazingly cheap and delicious. I had to come back and remove a star, because this place is musty smelling…

Love this place! A friend’s family owns it and have been coming here since they opened. Everything I have had is so good, we have also ordered trays for parties as well and food is always well prepared and good. So many favorites but to name a few I have had their egg rolls, spring rolls, chicken wings, Phở, beef and potatoes. Okay that was more than a few but I guarantee no matter what you choose to eat, you will enjoy!

Yo, I got mad love for Tay Ho and I’ll explain why. A couple years ago, my Vietnamese brotha Dan and I rolled-up into the joint on a Saturday afternoon to talk about life, girls, and the hustle. After sittin’ down and orderin’ our food, the owner comes out and straight-up asks us «WOULDYOUBEINTERESTEDINMARRYINGMYDAUGHTER» who worked as the hostess/cashier. I mean, yo, she was cute, and she looked like a nice girl, nah mean? But yo, WEGOTTAATLEASTDODINNERMOVIE, MOVIEDINNER before even contemplating that notion. But yo, THAT’S MADLOVESON. STRAIGHT-UP, THEOWNERTRYINGTOHOOKITUPASIDEFROMFOODYO! We coulda been like crazy people or sumptin’, so I don’t know why she trustin’ us like that. I highly suggest the Bun Bo Hue. Everything else is above average. The phở is a little too sweet for me. Peeps gotta stop pouring sugar into their phở and ish. Nasty yo. Café sua da is legit.
