Doesn’t look like much when you pull up, but the food was great. Avoided the true Szechuan and played it safe with juicy buns and scallion pancakes for apps then Mongolian pork and shrimp and veggies for entrees. Everything was great but I was partial to the pork. Deep rich flavor. Potions were huge also. Vivian was great help picking new things to try. Would go back in a second!

Now that Little Sichuan on University Ave. has gone hot pot, Teahouse has become my go-to East Metro Chinese restaurant. It’s improved in the years since I wrote my first review: Authentic, delicious Sichuan food(Chongqing chili chicken, ma la fish). Dan dan noodles, soup dumplings, and scallion cakes are excellent. I’d stick with the Sichuan specialties; Moo shi pork is tasty but they serve it with frozen commercial pancakes that inevitably crack and fall apart. I’ve come here more often recently and am usually served by the same waiter, a friendly, middle-aged man with a dry sense of humor and a sly smile. He’s a delight!

Worst chicken and beef I have ever had. No flavor and the meat was so chewy I couldn’t eat it.

The juicy stream buns are a must try. The waiters will show you how to eat them properly if you’ve never tried them(they’ve shown us a few times lol).

Overall the food was decent a bit to plain for me but okay. Was rather empty and the service was okay.

Finding a good Chinese restaurant in St paul has become difficult. But the tea cup is worth a visit. The fried rice kung pao chicken and hot and sour soup are 5 * it’s what I always get. Don’t know about the other entrées they serve. It will cost you a bit more than nearby places around 25 $ for these 3 items.

After reading several reviews, the SO and I decided to try the Tea House. We were NOT disappointed! We started with scallion pancakes-and they were everything reviewers raved about and more! Crispy, chewy, delicate flavor, the were delicious! We also ordered the dim sum, both pork buns and vegetable buns. Again, flavorful and highly recommended. For entrees, I had the sesame chicken, large tender chunks of lightly battered chicken, in a rich dark sauce, very good. He had the black pepper scallops, and raved! I’m allergic to shellfish, and don’t really care for scallops, but I had to try. They were quite flavorful! If you like scallops, I would highly recommend this dish. We intend to be regulars here, as its not too far from my place. I’m looking forward to scallion pancakes and egg drop soup!

Best authentic Chinese food in the Twin Cities. Get the bbq steamed buns, pork dumplings, Szechuan beef and sizzling fajitas beef.

Quite a disappointment, no longer serving dim sum. Another nondescript strip mall Chinese restaurant.

Worst Chinese food I’ve had that I can remember in a very long time. I had the orange chicken and the chicken was literally all fat and gristle and did not really taste like chicken.

Best part is that the cook is not afraid to make order spicy, even though it’s pretty white in this area of town. I usually get the same thing: Kung pao baby shrimp and chicken fried rice. It’s ready in a flash [under 10 minutes] and exceptionally tasty. Wait staff is friendly, even though I only get take away.

Came to this restaurant because there the restaurant«cook St. Paul» was so busy because of their Korean style street food event. My boyfriend and I got sat down right away and the food came within 10 mins of ordering. We got the mini juicy buns, shrimp/pork shu mai, & the beef chao fun. I give the mini juicy buns an 8 out of 10! The shu mai was probably a 6 out of 10. It wasn’t too hot when it came out and tasted like any other shu mai you can get. And lastly, the chao fun was just alright. There wasn’t much flavor and it was a little bit on the oily side, but overall it was a good atmosphere. Would totally recommend people to try the juicy buns! Just remember they do include gratuity in the bill no matter how many people.

Quality ingredients. Recommend the Kung Pao Chicken… not too spicy, a few delicious slices of garlic and ginger really make the dish. Clean establishment. Friendly wait staff… ask for recommendations and you’ll get a sincere and honest suggestion. Would say this falls in the range of $$ prices, and well worth it for the quality of the ingredients and food preparation. Will try again!

This place is a hidden gem tucked away in the corner of a strip mall off White Bear Ave &I94. The atmosphere is really cool, dark lighting with intricately carved wood panels lining the walls. The food here is absolutely wonderful. I have never had a less than perfect dish. Juicy buns, shredded pork, beef & peppers… it’s all good.

First time at this location. Our server was kind enough to give up the lunch price for a dinner item which was so appreciated. When you’re craving beef noodle soup, this may be the only legit spot in town.

Minnesota Unilocalers do not disappoint, this is a great little restaurant and I hope more people come and keep them busy! :) I was missing food from home and came across Tea House in a Unilocal search. This is as close to California Asian food as you an get. I hope to comeback at least once more before I go home. Great prices too! I ordered: warm tea, cream cheese wontons, the juicy pork dumplings and beef and broccoli, everything was wonderful and my total was only $ 24, the staff is nice and they do great service. Will defiantly go back if I have time.

Delicious and authentic Asian food. The staff is willing to help you figure out what you would like — including offering items that are not on the menu.

As good as usual. A few better Sichuan dishes were ordered today. These three taste really good, plus the Shanghai style soy source duck, my boys’ favorite.

This is a wonderful restaraunt. Had lunch here today and left a very happy girl! We had the Chung King Chicken, pork juicy buns, szechuan green beans and Chicken element. First off, I had never had a dumpling before but the server informed us that the juicy buns is what earned them a four star review so we said why not and ordered them. They came with a dark seasoned vinegar with shreds of ginger and were absolutely amazing! The entrees we had were delicious as well, especially the chicken element. Everything was hot and fresh and one of the best parts of our meal was how nice our server was. The food and him made it a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be back to eat here! On another note, there are a few different tea houses, we eat at the one in Plymouth often but due to remodeling, we went to this one. Great choice no doubt, and even the same franchise I believe, but they do have a different menu. Maybe a couple items might be the same but I believe it’s more up the chef you know?
