Now called Hat Trick. They changed the name when the Wild started playing downtown, probably hoping to draw hockey traffic. It didn’t work, but it’s still a great dive joint downtown. Bartender gave me a free pitcher once when another patron wasn’t up to the task. Good characters here.

The Top Hat Bar… for some reason the name of this bar conjured up a vision of red velvet booths, some smooth jazz in the background and waitresses dressed in corsets and tophats. I was wrong. Instead, I found sticky plastic tablecloths that were glued to the tables, chairs that looked like they came from the basement of some VFW and biker looking dudes with long beards wearing bandannas on their heads and Whitesnake playing on the jukebox. Ordering from the menu, I got the crispy tacos. Cheap. Good. Happy hour is decent too. $ 2 beers. However, based on the crowd, I’m not sure I’d go dressed up from work in heels and a skirt into this place without some male representation as the crowd seemed a tad rough. Damn. Maybe the red velvet booths were in the backroom ;)
