Love this place. Mitsch’s Total Hardware is the name, but Hardware Hank is what hangs over the door. It’s one of those hardware stores that has the bits and pieces that are specific to what your home needs, if you live in the neighborhood. Radiator keys? Check. Adhesives and caulk? Check, Your usual standard everyday items like light bulbs, electrical, plumbing, painting and whatever else? Check. I’ve even received tips on fixing things which doesn’t require a purchase which is awesome. Now the reason for the 4 star rating. When the owner is there, he is awesome and offers all sorts of options on how to fix something. I’ve shown pictures on my phone and he is «did you think about trying this?» I go home try it and it works. The son(I’m guessing) though is different. He has a level of indifference and either doesn’t care to learn, or just doesn’t care which is a shame because if this place becomes his, I don’t see it lasting.

We went here last weekend for a small piece of stainless steel to fix our toilet. When my husband explained what we needed all the guy working said was«No.» Not, «Sorry, we don’t have anything like that.» Not, «I bet we could find something that would work for you.» Just a really rude«No.» We went right over to Ace Hardware on Grand and they knew exactly what we needed and even gave it to us for free because they had one in their junk drawer. Boo on you Total Hardware Hank. I live close by and I like to support small business, but if you ask me if I will ever be back all I can say is NO.
