It’s expensive here, but so worth it. Normally we buy our specialty food, get something to eat, sit down and relax.

Ok so super expensive… but that’s what u expect at a co op right? Insane, astronomical prices that make you blink 10 times just to ensure you have eyeballs in your head. Some things are reasonable though. Most people probably couldn’t come in here and buy their entire household food for a month without go in debt some deep greens. But some can I’m sure. It’s ok. Honestly, they just rob people because its st.peter. Now don’t get me wrong they have some quality things. But better than whole foods? No. Trader joes? I think not. So it’s up to you. My stars? 3 because healthy options are great… but the unaffordable prices is what’s wrong with America’s weight.

I love this place. For a college student, it is not in my budget to buy all of my groceries here, but they have coupons and free samples, so that’s enough to keep me coming back monthly. The salad bar and hot bar are top notch. In my opinion, this is the best place in town for lunch. My favorite homemade item is their strawberry cream cheese. The first time I tried it was a free sample(per usual) and I just had to have a full container… great with wheat crackers, fruit, bread, etc. Plus, the fact that I know it wasn’t processed weeks ago in a different part of the country is comforting. I would agree with the others that I feel like the produce section here is a bit small.

How many times have I driven past this co-op? I’m not sure, but I have driven through St. Peter plenty of times over the years. The co-op is quite nice inside if on the smaller side compared to other co-ops I’ve visited. However, those other co-ops were also not in a smaller town like St. Peter. A quick look at the hot bar showed a tasty looking variety. The baked goods had a nice bread selection plus some Minnesota Scandinavian style items. The aisles have the requisite selection of Organic, gluten free, eco centric and other things you expect from a co-op, plus the few staff people I talked to were friendly. They have a water dispenser in the café area and clean bathrooms. What more do you want from a small town co-op? It is a nice destination and if I lived here I’d probably shop here more. They do have the usual high prices typical of a co-op, but then again they probably pay their employees and suppliers a bit better or the products just cost more than conventional mass produced stuff.

Nice co-op for a small town. It’s pricey as are most co-ops but this was a great spot to grab a healthy, non-fast food lunch as we passed through town. The roast beef sandwich from their sandwich counter was filling and tasty, and they have a ton of options in a large salad bar, soups and all kinds of stuff a la carte. The place has a very comfortable seating area.

If you’re anywhere in the Southwestern Minnesota area, St Peter Food Co-Op is probably your best bet for organic, local food this side of Minneapolis. While it can’t compete with the Co-Ops of the city(especially when it comes to produce, and for obvious reasons) it will have just about everything you need! The staff is super friendly, the store is always clean and the deli offers a wide variety of hot, cold, and to-go items. My only main complaints would be that the deli items are not listed as organic or local, so it leaves you wondering where your food comes from. I would also love to have more choices in organic produce. The main reason I choose a Co-Op is because of the high quality organic produce. I stop in almost every time I’m in the area. Whether picking up groceries or just grabbing a snack for the road, St Peter Food Co-Op has you covered!

It’s good for a small-town food co-op, but I wish they carried more house-made vegan food/bakery. The staff is wonderful, they have a nice bulk section, and you can find a lot of stuff here that can’t be found in Mankato. Decent for most of my needs, but I guess I can’t help but compare this co-op to some of the larger, better-stocked co-ops of Minneapolis.

Great store — healthy alternatives to the high fructose corn syrup, preservative laden, highly processed food in traditional supermarkets. They try to emphasise local products & produce, which is great. Sort of a mini Trader Joes in this Trader Joe-less landscape . The new(2011) location is spotless. The staff is extraordinarily helpful. The dining area is packed at lunchtime.(never been there at dinner). Really clean & bright. Nice big windows. They have some outdoor seating in front of the building, but it’s way too sunny there — gets hot fast. Once the vines grow thicker on the pergola, I’m sure it will improve . The prepared food they have in the deli case, and hot buffet are pretty good. The baked goods are kinda average. Probably one of the better places in SP for lunch

I went in for lunch while working in St. Peter. It’s a smaller version of the Wedge Co-op in Uptown. My tofu sandwich was delicious and stacked with an assortment of veggies. This must be he only place in St. Peter to offer tofu and seitan. I was very happy, but the prices could be better.
