I needed a circular needle — size 6 with a sixteen inch length. So my hubby and I turned it into a weekend drive and headed down to St Peter to check out the yarn shop there. It was an experience. The ladies in their are a hoot and talk a mile a minute. I am still trying to process all the stories they told me. In terms of the actual shop — it was clean. It was well organized. Lots of sample projects to look at. Here is where they lost a star for me — They didn’t have prices on most of their yarn. It KILLS me when I have to ask«What does this run. What does this run…» over and over. So I don’t ask much. And then I spend too much because I assume that a yarn won’t cost THAT much. And then I don’t go back to that store because there are a ton of yarn stores in my area that are very up front with their prices and I know I can go to them and not walk out with yarn I couldn’t afford. Which is why I gave them three stars instead of 4. I can’t give 4 stars to a store I won’t go back to. The other thing to note is that their stock is a little narrow. Meaning they didn’t carry Brown Sheep — they didn’t carry standard wash cloth yarns. The yarn I bought there for washcloths ended up being $ 6.95 a ball.(Yeah — I regret that purchase.) And they really didn’t carry anything too unique. A lot of Rowan and a lot of Debbie Bliss. I would almost call this a yarn Boutique rather than a yarn store. It had that feel to it.(Did I mention almost no prices on the yarns!!!)
