Hadn’t seen my old buddy Jack since Christ was a corporal so when I found out he’d be down there with some mutual friends I took a spin down to the southside. Menu hasn’t changed a lick, Larry looks a bit older and grayer(not me-maybe balder and fatter) but the food is just as good as it was-man I bet it’s 6 or 8 years ago! Same good stuff. same quick service, even the same old classic candy bars and bad jokes at the check out counter. There is a new coffee shop on the end of the building for the light eaters or coffee only crowd, but it seemed to me all the basic Larry Munch classics are still available-along with the same old bad puns and jokes. Truly a one of a kind-if you don’t leave smiling it’s because some kid spilled syrup all over your table and they waitress didn’t have a chance to wipe it up good before you rushed into an empty booth. A winner for decades. I mean REALSOS baaby! for you Navy men! Maple sausage is a favorite, fried fish, you like it and they can probably accommodate you here! Maybe a bit out of the way but not even 10 mins from my home in Allendale. Don’t miss it it’s going strong 50 yrs os so,

My mother found this restaurant on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, My husband and I try to go at least once every couple of months, but we make sure we go every year around our wedding anniversary. We almost always get the fried green tomatoes and they are probably my favorite appetizer. And we love our usual waitress Deb.

Yummy! Worth checking out. My husband had the Texas Hash and I had the Country Fried Steak, both very flavorful. Lots of old pics on the wall, friendly staff.

Came here with friends, had one of their specials. The garlic shrimp, mushrooms with cheese grits. Others had the fried chicken or omelette. Great food and service, we had 8 in our group. They take only cash, no credit/debt cards.

Another TripleD stop for us and it was an excellent breakfast! I had the TripleD Cream Chipped Beef and the Mrs had the Ham and Cheese Omlete… very good way to start the day! The staff was very friendly and attentive as well.

The food was good and the atmosphere casual, but we had a problem. While we were waiting my husband observed the waitress eating her French Dip sandwich with her fingers and licking her fingers and then not washing her hands before serving food. We mentioned the problem and started to walk out. They talked us into staying and remaking our food. It makes you think though, what do they do when you don’t see them.

Perfect greasy spoon breakfast with awesome prices. They have specials m-f from 7−11am for $ 2.25 for a whole breakfast including coffee. Always ask the servers for their recommendation, they always nail it! Cash only, expect a wait on the weekend. Shrimp and cheese grits are only available on the weekend!

This place is right up the street from our house. It’s a great place if you are craving a home cooked meal. It’s not for the diet conscious but it is good cooking. There’s a reason it was featured on diners, drive ins, and dives. Their biscuits at breakfast are soooo good! Their eggs were a bit runny, but I like my eggs cooked really well done. I’ve come for lunch also. Their burger was yummy. I would love to comeback to try their chicken. I’ve heard great things about it.

Great little restaurant with fast and friendly service. I had the sausage and cheese omelet with rye toast and grits. It was well portioned and the sausage looked like fresh spicy italian sausage. Perfect for breakfast!

Munches is our go to place for a really great breakfast. They always have interesting specials like sriracha skillet w/toast. This has pork belly, peppers, onions and jack cheese with 2 eggs on top! Yummy! We have never had a bad meal here. Some signature items are the maple brown sugar sausage, fried chicken and Carolina shrimp and grits to name a few. They are cash only but have an atm for a $ 2 fee. It is worth it.

I can’t believe I’ve never tried this place before last week! Since then, we’ve been back 3 times. The biscuits and gravy are out of this world good! By far the best gravy I’ve ever had, but the portion is HUGE. If you aren’t that hungry, opt for the half size, which my server informed me of, but I didn’t see on the menu. The service has been great every time, but do keep in mind this place is cash only(with an ATM outside). We will be back over and over again!

This DDD hot spot did not disappoint, and I will return since there were about 10000 things on the menu that looked so good. We got the fried green tomatoes(FGT) to start, and was a bit hesitant because every fried green tomato I have gotten I have never liked. Well let me now stand corrected because these things were AMAZING! do yourself a favor and get them and forget all past experiences with a FGT, and be amazed. I got the sloppy joe for my meal. Hwo doesnt need one of those from time to time? lol. It was good and also did not disappoint. The cucumber salad was a winner as well. CASHONLY!!!

As long as I live, I don’t think I’ll ever forget Munchs and the home style flavors. Authentic Pot Roast rivaled my grandmothers dish(sorry Grandma). The real award winner though was the Cheeseburger Soup. That’s right… Cheeseburger Soup. It was comfort in a bowl. I didn’t want it to ever end! Whatever you do, don’t miss Munchs. It is a real treat!

Pretty okay place. I enjoy coming to mom and pops and we pretty much ran into this place. The food was okay, I had higher expectations but maybe I got the wrong food. Our eggs weren’t cooked enough and I can still taste the moisture of eggs in the French toast. I’m not giving up on this place, next time I’ll try their specials. Very friendly staff and the service was amazing.

This place has so much old time character! This was the second time we stopped and it was just as good as the first time. We wanted a hardy breakfast and we found it. I had the Texas hash and pot roast chipped beef on toast. I was talked into the Texas hash by the waitress, but if I were to do it again, I would go with the regular hash. The Texas hash has smoked chicken instead of corned beef and while very flavorful, it was just a bit dry due to the meat change. I grew up eating chipped beef on toast and was surprised to find it here. They use pot roast instead of dried beef which is a nice addition. The pot roast makes the gravy more of a brown gravy which was full of flavor as well. We left stuffed and happy. I look forward to returning.

I go far out of my way to eat here as often as I can. Just pure comfort. I love the nostalgic 60s/70s atmosphere and music they play, I love all the waitresses who remember me and my children by name, and I think their food is really good — solid American diner food with quite a few specialties that jump off the menu. I love their omelettes, the biscuits and gravy, and the fried green tomatoes are not to be missed. I’ve had their barbecue on Friday before and I was astounded at the size of my rib plate. I ate as much as I could and still took it home and got two more meals out of it… wow. The fried chicken on Tuesdays and Saturdays is also very special. This place can be slammed on the weekends, but for me the best time to go is early in the morning on a weekday — the warmth and good food will brighten you up, guaranteed. (Note: Cash only/ATM just inside front door)

Firstly, this place is cash only. However, there’s an ATM inside though, so all is well. This place is super dive-y. The décor is delightfully tacky and clearly hasn’t been updated since this opening in the 50s. I ordered an omelette named after a man.(Billy’s omelette maybe?) It was packed full of sausage and mushrooms and happiness. With it, I had hash browns(kind of bland) and toast(beware if the buttery-ness) as sides. I also tried one if their biscuits because it just felt right. That biscuit was a warm and moist situation of epic tastiness. I was so satisfied with this meal. Our waitress wasn’t great, but the food made up for it.

I’ve been here twice. Really good fried chicken and mashed potatoes the first time. The second time I went with the French dip… meh, it was passable. But I should have stuck to southern cooking. This is definitely a must do if in St Pete. It is an American Classic. Even the candy selection is a blast from the past.
