The Mango Tree is truly a little Central Avenue gem! The food is always fresh and delicious. The sushi chefs are meticulous at presentation and I have to admit it certainly pays off. My biggest hangup is that the menu is sooooo big. Not physically of course, but long and cumbersome. I think this is something sushi/Japanese/Asian restaurants get sucked into because there is an effort to appeal to many tastes. Pro-tip: Sit at the sushi bar and go off menu if it’s slow. Tell the chef what you like and let him work his magic. Omakase style!

The tuna tataki appetizer is a great dish for fans of tuna(see pic). Comes out in large plate, great for 2 or 3 people. What I liked best was you can try out the ramen broth before you order, if you ask they will bring out samples of all 5 different broths(see pic). Overall good ramen with plentiful noodles so you really get your money’s worth Kare noodles with Tonkatsu(pork) was a bit bland I thought, the pork was G. I had the Kare noodles with Tonkatsu(pork) — it comes in curry sauce but I thought it was too bland and didn’t taste enough sweet, salty, or sourness like I would expect of «curry». The deep fried pork pieces was good and the best part of the dish Service was prompt on a Sat night. Waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about the dishes.

I’d really go with 3.5. But this place is pretty good! First time I went I had yaki soba with vegetables and it was pretty amazing as noodles and veggies get. Next time I had udon and veggies and was still pretty good. Also had tempura veggies, yum just too many sweet potatoes, not enough mixup. The fried veggie rolls were good but a little under fried. First time service was excellent and at tentative and everything happened quick. Second time was lax and abandoned feeling mostly. I want to go back and try more! Definitely worth a try I think.

Couldn’t wait until St. Pete opened a Ramen shop. Within the past year, the Mango Tree opened up and it’s the only Ramen shop in this area. I’ve been to the Mango Tree and couple of times and both times the food was full of flavor and visual pleasing, which is also a plus. This time I ordered the pork based broth Ramen, I don’t remember the name of it. It was full of sliced of pork, an egg, of course noodles and a few other things. The broth was delicious and full of flavor, I will definitely get this Ramen again. I also ordered the edamame dumpling, I asked about it first because I don’t like anything with seafood, the waitress said it was just edamame. It looked really good but there was some type of seafood, maybe fish sauce. I ended up eating one of my friends veggie spring rolls and he ate the edamame dumplings and loved them. We also has a couple friends that joined use, one had the teriyaki chicken and the other had sushi. The chicken looked amazing and smelled good. There was the any left over, that’s how good it was. Our finning companion that had the sushi said it was really good, I can’t speak on that because of my aversion to seafood. Mango tree is a great spot to get a solid meal. I’ll be back for sure.

Somehow I expected much more from this restaurant based on previous reviews. I had the miso tonkatsu ramen. It wasn’t good nor bad, it was just bland. Nothing special about the broth and meat. When I ordered my other ramen, I repeatedly said no onion, no veggies and the so-called waitress took a while to understand and went to grab a pad to write down my specific order. When the ramen came out, of course they didn’t listen to my order. It was filled with everything I didn’t want. For appetizer I ordered chicken yakitori, honestly the chicken tasted like rubber. I was afraid it wasn’t fully cooked. For drink I ordered hot green tea and they brought out a tea pot with Bigelow Green Tea bag in it. Seriously?!? I expect a Japanese restaurant to have high quality green tea not something I can buy from Walmart!

I’m a big fan of Japanese food, so I was pleased to discover a great Japanese place right in the heart of DTSP! The décor is cute and modern. The spicy beef gyoza is really tasty, but I am a sucker for all things potstickers. For my entrée, I opted for a yakisoba noodle dish with veggies and tofu(I can’t remember the name of the exact dish I ordered). It was very tasty, though the tofu had a little bit of a weird texture(even by tofu standards). The dish was still delicious, and I ended up eating the whole thing in one sitting, which says a lot considering that is a feat I seldom accomplish.

So far I’ve only had the Ramen, but it is fantastic. We’ll be back to try sushi sometime soon.

Probably the worse place to be on a Friday night or weekend due to HORRIBLE parking. It’s a hole in the wall, but you just have to deal with it for a bowl of warm ramen. Hype place with modern decorations, great spaces and lots of seatings. The only thing this place lacks– of course– is customer service. You walk in, sit yourself down and menus are handed to you. Our server did not ask what we wanted to drink until we put in our order, and drinks weren’t refill despite of the hints we gave… like pushing our empty water glass to the end of the table or pretending to suck on a straw in emptied water lol. Despite of this, service was very quick. Tonkotsu ramen was surprisingly good to my taste bud. My only regret was forgetting to add corn to my ramen! Oh, always get iced green tea for drinks when you’re there, it’s the best

I ordered the tuna maki, a dragon roll, and a bowl of miso soup. Overall, it was all pretty good. But there was nothing about it that screamed amazing. The tuna was pretty mushy and the rice was a bit slimy. If I go back, I’d probably get the ramen that has so many great reviews. But don’t go here if you’re expecting great quality sushi. Mango Tree’s is pretty expensive for what it is. The décor, however, was super cute! I was able to sit outside and eat, enjoying the lovely Florida weather. The service was also really great. If I could, I would give their food 3 stars and their service+interior 5 stars. However, the sushi was just not good enough to warrant a 4 star review.

Im in a bit of a ramen craving right now, so my quest in hunting for the perfect spot to satisfy my cravings has taken me to places far and wide in the Tampa area. Hence comes our finding of Mango Tree which has been suggested as one of the best ramen spots in St. Pete area. The ambiance inside was super clean and loved the wall decors to add to the true authenticism. Our server was real nice and was very attentive to our table. I loved the presentation of each dish that we ordered. Alot of detail went in to creating every meal we had and you could totally tell by the ahs and oos that came from our table as each dish came out. The shrimp tempura my mom ordered came in a cool little metal basket over a nice little cutting board which was pretty neat as ive had my fare share of shrimp tempura in many a japanese restaurants before and havent seen it served like this. I ordered the Miso tonkotsu ramen which looked totally amazing when it came out as it was full of colorful veggies and an egg. the flavor of the broth was ok and the noodles were good but didnt pack that much flavor to it. perhaps i should have added more of the spices that came with it to flavor it up more. perhaps im super spoiled because im comparing it to the ramen i enjoyed in nyc which is on a whole other level and isnt fair to compare it to. presentation & service gets a 5 stars as its def a nice add to the DTSP area. come by and check it out !

We ate dinner here on a Saturday night. I had a water, seaweed salad and a Mexican roll. The waitress kept my drink filled. The seaweed salad was delicious. It even had cucumber in the bottom. It was a nice side with my roll. My Mexican roll was yummy. The size was perfect and very filling. I would def come back!

5 stars because the sushi was super fresh and large portions Had lunch here today and it was great. I ordered a seaweed salad and a Tuna roll and salmon roll lunch special. For $ 9.95, the two roll special also included a miso soup and ginger dressing salad. Both of those were good but the rolls were delicious! The rolls had large pieces of fish inside as compared to some places that put small pieces inside of the rolls. Very nice presentation as well. The seaweed salad was very nice. It was a decent size for $ 5 and had cucumber strings in the bottom which, were tasty. I’ll definitely be back.

In search of ramen, we decided to try this place base on a friend review and the roll char siu pork. The place has nice modern decorations with high ceiling. Great dining hall. Plenty of seats. One thing they lack off is customers. It is light traffic consider 6 pm in the Saturday evening. We were easily seat by our choice. We know they have the Ramen menu. They also have special of the night menu also with different sushi with picture. The pictures of the sushi look good. We are not trying that because we have few more stop for different restaurants. The ramen soup base have the miso, shoyu, tonkatsu, shio butter or the mix of tonkatsu and miso. Among of all the soup base, the tonkatsu base is the holy grail of the ramen. It is from pork marrow bones depend on how long it was cook. They were kind enough to allow us taste the soup before order. The Ramen was good and not too salty since they are not the miso base. Overall they are good to try and the ramen came out in 10 minutes. Base on the interior and the people who serve us, they deserve 5 stars. We will be back to try the sushi.

If you search«ramen» in Tampa Bay, surprisingly this is one of the places that pops up in the search. So, I just had to give them a try. Yes, I have eaten ramen at every restaurant in Florida and Georgia(also eaten ramen in Japan, Korea, NYC, etc)— so far The Mango Tree’s miso or miso tonkotsu ramen is my favorite in Tampa Bay. Even better when I order the set with the little basket of ebi fry on the side. It is expensive, but totally worth it when craving ramen. Even though this is ramen is not Japanese made, the chashu pork is cooked tender and perfectly rolled. The egg is not a tea egg, salt egg, or even soft boiled. I recommend adding corn. The service at Mango Tree is TERRIBLE, aloof, and unorganized. Last time I visited, they were open at 11:00AM, doors open. Waiter and sushi chef did not arrive until almost 12:30!!! We watched many customers arrive, wait around and leave. But, I was determined to stick it out for the sake of the two sweet old ladies working in the kitchen– they were so desperately trying to help us, even gave us a salad to calm our nerves. Being really unimpressed by the Hokkaido ramen served at that other place in Tampa, I would prefer to come to DTSP instead anyday.

I hate to give it such a low rating, but I honestly was not a fan. I love the interior and the service was okay, but the food was not as flavorful as others hyped it as. I decided to check The Mango Tree out because of the high ratings and thought it was worth a shot, but I was really disappointed in the food. I tried their Kare(Japanese Curry) with Tonkatsu and their Miso Tonkotsu ramen and I did not like either of them. The Kare is nothing compared to. let’s say Sapporo Ramen in Orlando, the major differences is that the texture at The Mango Tree was similar to applesauce(ick). It was too sweet as well and it was off. The Tonkatsu also lost it’s juicy pork qualities and it was dry and bland. The Miso Tonkotsu was also just bland. It reminded me of the frozen ramen I would buy at the store that comes with miso paste broth packages. I also had Japanese Kitchen Dosunco ramen a few weeks prior and there’s a major differences in the broth. Dosunco has different layers of flavors and you can tell how authentic it is. I really don’t think I am a fan of the food here at The Mango Tree, especially for a price tag of $ 12 plus a dish for not so good Japanese food. Naw. there’s definitely better places for real Japanese food.

My friend and I came on a day that the AC was broken. Hot, humid and extremely uncomfortable on an already hot summer Florida day. Fortunately, we sat by a fan that made eating our hot ramen more appetizing. The ramen was good but not the best comparable to other ramens that I’ve had. The ramen was bland and not enough meat. For appetizer, I had the pork gyoza. I enjoyed the gyoza more than the ramen soup. Why? Most likely because it was more flavorful. Overall, my dining experience was good but it could’ve been better if the AC was working.

I am superbly a fan. If superbly is not a word, oh well, it is in my book, & you should just get it. This place is dog friendly, and it’s covered for those super FL rains we have. I was all about ordering some ramen. Boon and Nick made me have a taste for it. I was able to have a ramen broth taste testing. How nice. I didn’t end up getting it though. I got full too fast. Cucumber uni mixed seafood salad made me full. It’s beautiful and delicious. Can’t believe how big it is for the price. I loved it. That just means I will be back here later. My hubby really liked his edamame yakisoba noodles. So glad they were not cheap on the protein. Lots of chicken, veggies, and noodles. It was a great balance of everything. Service was good. We were outside, so just knock on the window. They will be with you in a second. I love the inside with the mural of bamboo, and the inside decorations. Super fresh and fun just like the food!

This has become my favorite place for lunch downtown. The miso-tonkatsu ramen and the udon yaki with pork are my favorites on the menu. Every lunch comes with a nice little ginger dressing salad(Apple slice, grapes, strawberry) and a small cup of miso soup. Try the tamago soup sometime, it’s a tasty change of pace, and well worth it. The sushi is awesome, a little pricey for lunch, but within the DTSP range and better than the other sushi places on Central Avenue. I didn’t want to order sushi here because the rest of the menu was so unique, but I’m glad I finally did. Get the ex-wife; despite the silly name, this is one serious sushi roll! This is a great place to order takeout, especially ramen. they don’t package your lunch in Styrofoam boxes, or your ramen in those plastic quart containers with the broth already so your noodles get soggy. Broth and ramen ingredients are kept separate, and noodles are packaged in a nice disposable bowl. I love it!

Whenever I think japanese I think of ramen noodles and I heard this place has it so I decided to give it a try. When I arrived at this place I thought«wow this place is so beautiful». The restaurant has a fresh outlook in its decoration and all the wall paintings gives it an amazing look. My friend and I came in for lunch and we ordered the shrimp yakitori for an appetizer, gyu Don(beef stir fry), and the Miso tonkatsu ramen. The server came by with cold soba noodles and Miso soup as free starters that are included with the entrée which was a plus. However, it took 30 minutes for our appetizer to come out which I didn’t understand why since there were only 6 shrimps on a skewer. We waited some more and eventually our main courses came out. The ramen noodle didn’t taste all that great. I’ve had authentic ramen noodles from japanese restaurants before and this was not it. The noodles tasted like it came from a packet and I barely ate anything. I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get my ramen noodle fix As for the beef stir fry, it was not that great due to how salty it was. The servers that worked there are very nice but they were understaffed considering the lunch rush. This is a new restaurant and I’m sure many tweaks are to be made. I will be back again to give this place another try and to update my review. Maybe I will try the sushi next time!
