Thunder Bay Air was hired by the former owner of our home to repair and replace old & damaged HVAC duct work throughout the house. They were also hired by the former owner to replace the AC unit. All of this work was done at our request as part of the addendum to the home sale. Thunder Bay Air was at our home a total of 3 times. First time they put in a new AC unit, then a new return duct under the house. Finally, they repaired two small sections of damaged metal duct work in the attic. Since their involvement and our ownership of the house, we have discovered that the new unit was not installed properly, not hurricane clamped, not properly secured to the house, and the heat element was faulty. The new duct work under the home had to be secured and clamped to the foundation, as they simply left it lying on the ground, blowing around under the house. The repairs to the duct work in the two attics had to all be torn out and completely replaced because the repair job was so poorly done, not only did it ruin the old ducts beyond further repair, but damaged our insulation so badly that the insulation also had to be removed and replaced. Furthermore, his crews left 5 – 6 bags of trash throughout our attic & crawl space and 4 – 5 under the house. When the owner of the company, Sam Beard, was confronted about the problem, and given a chance to visit our home to see the work of his crew, his response was that yes the work was«deplorable», and he would like to send the same crew to, «teach them a lesson». He also thought it would be acceptable to us that he «might get to it in 2 – 3 weeks». The owner, of this company, Sam Beard, does not seem to have an actual HVAC background or skills, his website touts his work as an airline mechanic! After his company ruined our HVAC system, we had 6 different companies come look at their work, all recommended that the work was so badly done and beyond any further repair. He did not seem to have a response to this, and suggested that he could«maybe put some more mastic» and the gaping holes in our metal ducts. He did not properly acknowledge the horrible and shoddy work of his crew, and refused to take proper responsibility. As a result of this company, we had to spend and additional $ 7000 to have everything fixed! Do not use this company!
