My wife and I lowered our restaurant expectations upon arriving to the FLW area but we will never eat at The Hub again. First, I would recommend the owners reevaluate their wait staff. We had a nice young man who was clearly new but responsible for over half the tables including a large group. When we asked an older woman for a refill on water she yelled across the restaurant at our waiter and walked away. A drunk woman sat near us cussing at the top of her lungs only to be egged on by the above mentioned older female waitress. Last, I would consider the food eatable but that is it. I ate the schnitzel trio with German potato which all lacked any flavor.

I eat here every time I’m back home. Good selection of German Beers to go with very filling German food and desserts. They stock Underberg to polish it off at the end. It has tasted the same since I started coming here 20+ years ago. It is as comfortable as comfort food can get. If I had to guess, I would say it may be the oldest restaurant in the area(40+ years). I’m not sure what the negative reviewers expected or their experiences, but this is great place for German comfort food. I recommend skipping the chains that have popped up in the area and supporting this local, authentic place.

We’ve been coming here for years, and always have to make a stop when we come back to MO. No clue what these others are talking about — it is always delicious.

I went here with friends and decided to try the bratwurst because it’s impossible to have a bad brat. I was wrong. It seemed undercooked, bland, and soggy. The sides cannot be changed which is frustrating for a $ 9-$ 18 meal.(Most being around $ 14) they have great deals on their German beer, and I really wanted to like this place, but it was just bad.

The food and service is wonderful. I would give it 5 stars if the prices were better! The Jäger Schnitzel and Schnitzel Marsala are my favorite. You will not leave hungry!

Great German food. It was better than some German food I had in Germany, where I lived two years so far. I had Hunter Schnitzel and it was phenomenal. It was worth eating here on my two weeks in St. Robert. The waitress was friendly and helpful

German food, yum! However, The Hub’s plates were over priced and could easily be made at home. They did have a fairly decent selection of beers, but those can be purchased at Class Six or other establishments much cheaper. Although the food was decent, I was not very impressed. Perhaps if you have never had German cuisine The Hub will tantalize your taste buds.

Kind of a dark, VFW-hall type restaurant with the typical«German» dark wood and beer sign décor. Dirty carpet, and plastic vinyl tablecloths. Service was friendly, but the food was absolutely terrible and terribly expensive for what you got. We started with pretzel-cheese bites, which were just deep-fried cheese curds. I failed to see how anything remotely pretzel-like was attached to them. $ 8 down. My husband ordered a steak, which was fine, just expensive. I remembered a meal I had in Munich and had to see if they had it here. They did, and I ordered the pork shank and subbed out the potato for spaetzle. Now, I didn’t have the potato, but I“m pretty sure it would have been better than the spaetzle: it was greasy, cold, and tasteless. The pork shank was enormous, but covered in this canned brown gravy that was inedible. They also provided a little pitcher of it. The best thing about the meal in Munich was the gravy, so this«gravy» was a big letdown. If you don’t make your own gravy in a German restaurant!!, don’t serve it. Overall, our total bill was something like $ 60 + tip for bad food. I did take the pork shank home, scraped all the gravy off it, and put it in pea soup. So there’s that… We won’t be back.

So I ate dinner here and I have to say, to call what they serve here German Cuisine is an insult to the good people of Germany. Walk in, the space a the feel of a dumpy party center. I walked to the sign that said«Wait here to be seated». After a few minutes with no host or hostess in sight I started to wonder if I should just seat myself. I started looking around for some one who looked like they worked there, but the only people in the whole place was two tables of customers already sitting down. I finally spotted an employee talking on their phone hiding behind what could be described almost as a gas station style pay counter, complete with small bags of chips and other displays you would expect and the local fuel depot. After getting their attention they disappeared a found who would then be my hostess/waitress for the rest of my adventure. I ordered fairly quickly, pretzel, something described as cheese balls on the menu, and a brat trio with German potato salad. Literally, within 2 minutes of taking my order I was already getting my salad that came with my entrée and some rolls. Score one for fast service right? Wrong, the salad was nothing but iceberg lettuce, with a spoonful of pickled green beans that tasted like they were out of a can on the side. The rolls had definitely come from a factory somewhere or maybe Walmart. There is no way they came from any self respecting bakery. Ok, appetizer round might cheer me up. Out comes the cheese balls. Each on the size of an average green grape they had clearly come from the frozen food section of the local grocery store. The pretzel? I am guessing the same. Oh well maybe the entrée will redeem? No, I’m not sure what each brat was supposed to be but one tasted and looked like a shriveled breakfast sausage. The other two, well I have had better at a cheap baseball stadium. The kraut that came with it I think was there just to be the depressing icing on the meal. Decent sauerkraut can be bought in most grocery stores and simply put on a plate after being warmed up. This sauerkraut and been cooked to death to ensure all flavor and texture was removed prior to serving. Finally the icy on my cake of disappointment and regret. The German potato salad. It looked like it had been at least made in the building rather than a factory. As I put it in my mouth I realized they had forgotten something. Spices, pepper, salt, vinegar, anything that would impart flavor to it was no where to be found. Please do yourself and the good German people a favor and go somewhere else. I would rather go hungry than return here and end up paying $ 25 dollars for three courses of disappointment again.

The Hub seems genuinely interested in keeping a German tradition in food and beer. The appearance and atmosphere are unusual due to the cheap-looking décor, country music, TVs, and smoke-filled rooms. You will not be able to forget that you’re in the middle of rural Missouri. They have six beers on tap(none of them German) and a large selection of bottled beers. The food was pretty good and exactly as promised. They obviously get a lot of praise for their desserts. The staff and management seem friendly and they have a loyal customer base. All in all a good, and different, experience for Saint Robert and worth at least one visit.

Love this place! Its home away from hone. Whenever I get homesick, I come here. The lady that runs it, will make you feel like family. The fresh oysters are amazing! Even better than some ive tried on the coast! They always have specials and now after they close the restaurant, they have a bar that stays open later where you can order appetizers & drinks! If your wanting to stay away from the commercial restaurants– this is the place! Try the lemon cake, best lemon cake that will take you down memory lane. Craziness a wonderful german restaurant out in the middle of nowhere-its like finding treasure.

Still the best German food. I recently stopped by and took my whole family to dinner here. I don’t know what all they got because I was too busy devouring my Hunter Schnitzel. Usually I’m a Jäger Schnitzel all the way, but I decided I wanted to try something new. They have a mean German Chocolate Cake and this White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake. Gutes Essen!

Do you like your plate being thrown at you and salty schnitzel? Well, The Hub is the place for you. This was my second time here, and have to say it has not gotten any better since my visit 4 months ago. The food and service are both subpar. I ordered the jaeger schnitzel and spaetzle lunch special for $ 7.99 and was pretty disappointed. The schnitzel is super salty and the mushrooms were straight out of a can. The only thing that I half way enjoyed was the spaetzle You can probably get better food and service at your local quick mart. The food is cheap, but I would rather spend more on better service and something that I could actually finish. I would certainly avoid this place unless you are in the mood for a German beer. #Yelp100

The food was pretty good, but the place feels dirty. Let me explain, you walk in and there’s wood paneled walls, dim lighting, carpeting, and vinyl tablecloths. Vinyl tablecloths and carpeting in restaurants just give off the feeling of being dirty. And when the lights are dim, there’s little natural light, and the place is dark from wood paneling, you can’t see whether or not things are actually clean … which makes them feel even dirtier… I was seated and before all the people in my party showed up, the waiter puts a basket down on the table, which has little tubs of what appears to be salad dressing in it. They’re room temperature. Maybe I’m a bit nervous about germs and stuff, but to me, salad dressing should be kept cold. They don’t have beer on tap, just in bottles. Not the end of the world, but worth noting. Ordered the schnitzel, which was good, but very dry. The vegetable/salad bit that came out was, like the salad dressing, room temperature, which felt very unhealthy. And the butter that came out with the bread was also room temperature. While the food was good, I couldn’t leave feeling good about dinner because all I could think about was the room temperature items.

I love German beer and food. Ive only eaten here once and got the jäger schnitzel. It was really good, as was the beer I got, a krystal weis(check the pictures). The bad: –server seemed like he hated his job. He wasn’t really rude or inattentive, just generally unconcerned. –They have NO beers on tap. The good: –Beer is very well priced, so not having anything on tap doesn’t equal expensive beer. –Prices are good –They have lunch specials The thing people should understand is that this won’t be a gourmet experience. It’s straightforward, rich, filling food that’s closer to comfort food than fine dining. To me, that’s what traditional German food is. And they do that really well here. Not the best I’ve had, but I’d definitely go back for more.

Disappointing to say the least. We didn’t partake in any beers(which, since they don’t brew, I would say that I’m sure they are as good as anywhere else… assuming they keep them at the right temperatures), or dessert. Since the dessert seems to be what’s getting the rave reviews, I guess this is where we missed out. I was sad to find out that they didn’t have kartoffelpuffers on the menu, but whatevs. We ordered an appetizer sampler platter to start with. I’m pretty sure they just took whatever they could find, and poured it all into the fryer together. Everything tasted the same… The shrimp tasted just like the breaded mushrooms, which tasted like the chicken wings, which were indiscernible from the jalapeño poppers. I loved the off-off-off brand of ketchup that was plopped onto our table. Our salads were interesting… the canned green beans were tolerable, but the canned(read: horrid) sauerkraut was heinous(and this was all on our salad). The dressing was just as bad as the sauerkraut. The rolls were very, very mediocre. I ordered the chicken breast, which was decent, and the house fries were edible, though not my favorite. However, my cousin’s husband ordered some kind of specialty platter, and oh my god, it looked so awful. I felt so bad for him. To be safe, he ordered the fries to go with his meal, and they looked like those disgusting tv dinner fries, only en masse. If you’re curious to see, take a look at the picture I posted. Seriously. Gross, right? Our waiter clearly didn’t want to be there, wasn’t happy about being asked any questions, and I’m wondering if he’s even German… I’m just kidding about the last bit, but overall, this wasn’t such a winner for any of my group. Such a shame, because I was really looking forward to it. I’m sure that Len wasn’t super keen on feeding the majority of his meat to the dog, but you gotta roll with it. My advice… when in Waynesville, do a lot of home cooking. Un-happy Dining
