OMG ! I took my wife to this place last week… she asked for two pieces of ¼ yard green fabrics. The store clerk RIPPED her two ¼ pieces ! Now the pieces have damaged weaves all along their edges! Threads are coming out all along their edges. NEVER rip any fabrics for a customer ! Use a rotary cutter, please. Wife is not a happy customer.

Love this shop. They have tons of bluebonnet fabric and western fabrics as well. Salado is about the cutes little town. Right off IH35. Like Fredericksburg only 30 mins from Austin. Bought the cutest fabrics and then went to Salado Creek Winery right around the corner and got an awesome bottle of wine to drink while I start making my next quilt top.

I love coming to this shop! Everyone is helpful but not intrusive, the fabric layout is pleasing to the eye and convenient to locate that particular fabric you need, and the displays are fun to look at with back up patterns/fabrics/help at the ready. Thanks Sewing Basket for a great experience!

I am very familiar with this nice little shop located on the service road on the east side of I-35. You see, my wife is a quilter, and whenever we travel to Austin, we either hit this place coming or going. I have to admit that the ladies who work here must have been cut from the same bolt of cloth, they are some of the nicest people in the quilt stores my wife visits. They are even tolerant of tag-a-long husbands, like myself. My wife loves their large stock of fabrics and the ladies always take the time to discuss quilting with her. They are just as nice to a «passing through» customer as the locals. If I get too restless, there are shops nearby to go to or I can get some food nearby. The last time we stopped, my wife got some great ideas for some new projects.(which will cost me some money, I’m sure). So, if you’re a quilter or are married to one, give this shop a try next time you’re in or traveling through Salado.

The Sewing Basket is a fun little shop with lots of different fabrics and patterns, run by super friendly quilters that want to help you. Stop in and check out some of their pretty batiks, and vote for the quilt of the month while you’re in the shop. I haven’t tried any yet, but they have classes and other events, too.
