This is my second try here. The food was below average, once again they messed up the order. I’m pretty low maintenance Whalen it comes to restaurants, but this place just isn’t very good.

Corned beef hash was salty and the eggs were over cooked. Otherwise nice little place.

We stopped in on our way to Santa Rosa CA from Canada and Washington. Food was amazing, the onion rings were to die for. My husband had a burger with Tater Tots, also, really good. Service was just fine, very friendly and homey feel. Afterwards, we stopped by the fruit stand and picked up some Honey Crisp apples, also wonderful. Enjoyed eating them before we got to the California border, wish we lived closer but if we take another road trip next year, will definitely stop by. This place was recommended by the winery we did where we did some tasting.

Stopped in to buy some peaches.. they look good… tomatoes looked good(bought some) but the blackberries looked great(bought more). So much I had to grab a blackberry milkshake which was awesome. I’ve had dinner with my wife several times here and it is always good but there ice cream desserts are really good.

I heard so many good things about this place I had to check it out, small place waited quite awhile to be seated. I ordered the patty melt with chili I do like that you aren’t charged more for getting chili instead of fries. The portion sizes were good but the chili not served very warm, not a fan of cold chili. The patty melt was a little over done and very greasy. My granddaughter was happy with her BLT and fries. I personally was not impressed enough to go back and especially have to wait a long time to be seated.

I have driven past this place quite a few times before stopping in. I ordered their vegetarian burger with sweet potato fries. It was served with sautéed mushrooms and swiss cheese… very tasty! I also had strawberry lemonade. At first i was afraid it would be too sweet but it was surprisingly not. The serving was large by todays standards(both the tea and the burger) and I did have a bit of a time finishing the meal…(i am not one to eat leftovers). If there was any change I would have liked it would have been to have the bun warmed a bit… it wasn’t cold or anything… just a preference. The place was very busy when I arrived and I think it took 5 minutes to be seated but after that service was quick and i have no complaints about it. I also visited the produce store next door. Very nice selection and the apricots I purchased had an amazing flavor. All in all this was an excellent experience and I will most assuredly return.

Very disappointed with my recent visit. 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon, not crowded. Had to wait 5 minutes before the hostess even seated me. Then waited over 15 minutes with no sign of a waitress. Wen’t inside to tell them, and they didn’t seem to care. Café 22 West has a reputation for slow service, but this was inexcusable.

Stopped in for lunch and it’s s nice little diner but the menu isn’t accurate. I went with a half a sandwich and cup of chili, I picked the roast beef from the menu and was informed that they don’t offer roast beef anymore. I settled won the pastrami. The half a sandwich tasted good and the chili was just ok. The service was prompt and courteous.

Awesome burgers. We dropped here today and each had a half pound burger, the meat was wonderful. And my wife had the sweet potato fries, different but delicious.

Food was great! We received a Marion berry popover for an appetizer and ordered chicken fried steak and café 22 breakfast. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes are delicious! We will definitely be back!

Used to be one of a favorite places, the onion rings were so ahhhmazing! BUT… not when we went last month. For 16 overly cooked onion rings(some had the onion cooked right outta them) and they cost .43.3 cents each! Ridiculous! The burgers and wraps are good still but I was sorely disappointed.

The coffee was good and hot and that is the nicest thing I can say about Café 22 West. Well, it is also very cute. The food was ice cold. We got up mid meal and had to wait while our waitress chatted with«the regulars». Thank god another waitress got her attention for us, or we would have waited longer. Then to top it off the waitress gave herself a bigger tip then we left. I called the manager and he was very defensive, even insinuating that I did not know how to add. Or maybe that my hand writing was bad. That really peed me off. It seems like they were not lacking for customers. Maybe people like cold food, bad service and don’t mind being gipped on the tips! Not me, we will not be back!

My husband had a Farm Burger and he said it was the best hamburgers he had had in a long time. He was also given a free sample of barbecued ribs and thought they were outstanding. I had the French dip and the prime rib in it was tender and tasty and the bun had croissant-like flakiness. We’ve been looking for a restaurant on the west side of Salem for a long time(we travel from Tillamook to visit our family in Salem); now we’ve found it! Yippee!

Oh, my good god. Foodgasms every time! Hashbrowns are always perfect and not your classic shredded grease traps. I usually get a make– your– own omelette with veggies and a little feta on top if I feel the need for some curdled cow excretions in my mouth. While being adventurous, I once got a biscuit with gravy on top instead of toast. Oh, the guilt of eating meat in the gravy and the cream to make it delicious was well worth it as the gravy and biscuit were both made with love. You can taste the love. Then, the one time we didn’t arrive on time for breakfast, I was incredibly surprised at the care given to my veggie burger! I may have had the best veggie burger ever that day. Seasoned to perfection, falling apart with every bite, perfect toppings without adding any animal product as I was, once again, vegan for the time being. Then, when I decided to do have a low carb deal going on, they were more than willing to cook up some veggies instead of the usual hash. Perfection. Plus, the waitress remembers our preferred drinks and food inclinations every time she seats us. Pricing is decent as well. Your usual diner prices for above average cooks and service.

Excellent food every time we go! Family friendly and helpful staff. The burgers are really great. Still waiting to try their breakfast. The only drawback is when the desserts are gone, they’re gone.

We stopped for dinner here for the first time tonight. We were greeted with a smile and hi from the owner. The waitress came right over and was friendly. Iced tea was strong and plain and kept full. We had bbq that was fabulous. The potato salad was homemade and yummy. The baked beans were good. Mike said he was wild about the mac and cheese. They showed us the breakkfast menu and it looks yummy. We will return.

Visited last night(6-13-2014) for the first time on a date night with my wife. We ordered the Onion Rings as an appetizer and they were tasty. She ordered the prime rib French Dip. The sandwich was tasty but the accompanying au jus sauce was very salty and left such taste in her mouth the rest of the evening. The waitress did have the problem corrected but by then she wasn’t wanting to eat more. I had the Southwest Burger. It was creatively large and looks fun to eat. The bun has a hard time staying together, nothing a fork can’t help with, but it does get quite messy. Our sides were tater tots and fries. The tots were not brought out and we had to remind the waitress. I’m very sure a good and even great experience can be had, we just unfortunately were left leaving tasting salt. I give three stars for the meaty and simple menu and the potential this place has to be awesome.

We drive by this cute little café/roadside joint that sits just West of Salem, every time we drive into Salem or Portland — or just about anywhere — from the coast. And we’d been saying for months we should stop and try them out — so finally on a cool and overcast Friday afternoon in October, we got our chance. Granted, we were on the tail end of the lunch service — so there was barely a cup of clam chowder left for husband — but he got it anyway, and loved it with his burger. I also went against my norm and got one of their bacon cheeseburgers — which was excellent. In spite of the verrry well-done meat, the ½ lb-burger was still juicy and tender, loaded with thick slices of tomato and delicate rings of sweet onion — and some of the thickest bacon around. The cheese was interesting — but I never quite put my finger on the type they used. I guess I should have asked… My lunch came with a mountain of crunchy tater tots and a so-so pickle spear. They share a parking lot with a little fruit stand that was knee deep in pumpkins, apple cider, and gift baskets — and they obviously have outdoor seating available when the weather allows. Really cute road/diner décor — and just a generally friendly place for a reasonable price.

Let me begin by saying this would have been a solid 4 star review, I gave it one star because there was a big hunk of plastic bag baked into my 2 year old son’s waffle! That kind of reckless disregard doesn’t sit well with me. This place was chalked full of families, who knows how many other little kids may have been the proud new recipients of a plastic impregnated waffle… I recommend that you eat with caution should you visit this place…
