As someone trying to organize our wedding from a bit out of town(our venue was in Scio, we live in Portland, and this company is in Salem and was recommended by our venue), the low tech nature of her business was extremely frustrating. Though we did visit once in person, the fact that the majority of the communication was done over email but that she was ill-equipped to keep track of the details, made this a very frustrating vendor relationship. I didn’t discover until late in the process that they actually have very little glassware at all, so even though we were already paying the delivery fee to have our rentals delivered to the venue, we still had to rent over $ 200 worth of goods from another company in Portland, which we had to pick up ourselves the day of our wedding with an already-overloaded van and errand schedule. As our wedding date neared I could tell there was confusion about what was actually on our order, and repeatedly asked for an itemized list and invoice total, so that I could double-check it against my own list, to be sure nothing was left off. Only a handful of times was she able to comply with this, and never with any sort of official invoice or attachment, only copied-and-pasted text into the body of an email, which left me concerned right up until the day of the wedding that she had our order accurate. Lo and behold she did not, and because she had to deliver or order 2 days early due to a scheduling conflict on her end, the water glasses were left off of the order completely and we had to use plastic cups that our caterer offered to bring to us from town. Not the end of the world, but also not the look we were going for. Finally, it wasn’t until the week of the wedding that we learned that they only accept credit cards if swiped in person, and because it was too late to send a check after all the back-and-forth confusion about the order, the only option she gave us was to stop by the physical warehouse on the day of our wedding, to make the payment. For an order that totals nearly $ 1,000 I feel like it should be a given to be able to pay this with a credit card via a Square invoice, or a similar payment solution(takes less than 10 minutes to set up an account online and link it to your bank account). Fortunately our venue was very accommodating, and because they have a relationship with Crossroads, offered to send us a Square invoice and pay Shirley out on our behalf with a check when she delivered the order, before we arrived. While the delivery fee may be more expensive, I’d recommend sticking with The Party Place for anyone coming from Portland and looking to organize an event in the Salem/Scio area. They have photos of all of their products online, are extremely organized and easy to work with. Rentals should not have to be the #1 headache of your wedding planning!

I have worked with Crossroads for a long time. As a professional caterer, they have always gone out of their way to do a great job. I feel compelled to reply to Anonymous Y. that commented about an older lady doing the delivery. Shirley has loaded and unloaded many times for me and she is very capable. I have a feeling your event was a wedding and I have dealt with many«MOTHERS» of the bride. You seem to fit the picture. I sure you are a real treasure.

I was saddened to read the review from Anonymous Y. I have always gotten the best service and advice from Shirley on how to set up an event and what will be needed. My understanding is that delivery, set-up and take down are all available, but of course there is an extra charge. This is standard for any service provider. I have found Shirley to be capable of doing all the deliveries and pickups by herself, I do consider it common courtesy to help any person of any age when they are doing a task that I can help with. I will be using Crossroads for all of my events. I would recommend you go into her show room to check out all she has to offer.

She advertises set up, take down, and delivery. She is an older lady who showed up by herself, parked the truck, and told us to start unloading. She’s lucky we happened to have a few extra people there at the early hour she showed up. Table clothes were way too big for the tables. Glasses were fine but very fragile, two broke just gently placing them back into the crate. All in all things turned out ok, but it was disappointing none the less. Will look elsewhere next time.

While Crossroads seems to be primarily set up for wedding and banquet needs, we used them for a business function at a business fair. We rented a table and four linens. Not only was Shirley sweet as could be, she also helped me figure out the best size table for our needs. We were able to set up a mock table in the shop and she gave us some great tips and ideas to make our tables look as flattering as possible. The linens were perfect! And if I do say so myself, our section ROCKED! Thank you Crossroads, and thank you Shirley!
