Hey everyone! My husband and I tried Deb’s/The Pilgrim Diner today for the first time. This place is pretty darn small, a row of like 5 booths and bar stool seating. We were here on a Tuesday so we didn’t have any issue getting a spot. Our server, whom could have also been the owner, was very friendly. I had a really good vibe sitting there, it seemed like people knew each other/were regulars, always a good sign. I got the eggs Benny florentine with spinach and tomato, it was accompanied by home fries. They used FROZENSPINACH, that is a HUGE no no! You can get away with it in an omelet(not desired) but NOT eggs Benny. The eggs were legit cooked to perfection, the best poached eggs I’ve had in awhile. The holly sauce was just ok and the homefries needed more crunch. My husband loved his breakfast, his only gripe were the homefries as well. While I didn’t try his, it looked very good. If they could just tweak a few things this place could be better. It’s good but not great.

Eat your potatoes. They’re made with magic. They’re cooked and flavored to a sweet perfection. Seriously, one of the best late-night diner experiences. The coffee is fantastic and the food heavy and delightful. If you can make it for the hours, do it. Bring friends. Have a memorable time.

One of my favorite thing to do is when I travel is visit random places to eat, as soon as I walked into the diner I had a warm feeling. The staff was extremely friendly, the place is clean & the food is great! I got a vegetable omelette, must say never seen an omelette that big before! I recommend this place if you’re visiting, living or passing through Salem!

This place is AMAZING. Perfect diner food, and the small town charm to match. Plus, anywhere that makes a grilled cheese with white American cheese, bacon, on marble rye gets a 10 out of 10 in my book!

This is a great spot. I had the one egg with hash. Greasy goodness! The home fries were amazing. Hubby had Debs sandwich and helped me with my toast and side of bacon. This is definitely not a place for someone who is calorie counting for sure but it’s a great for someone looking for a good old-fashioned breakfast in a neat little spot. It’s literally a tight squeeze for guests and people working there. Be prepared to be cozy with strangers if you’re not at a table.

Wow I have never been to a place like this before. It had the weirdest bathroom I have ever seen in my life. I had poached eggs and they were perfectly done, and I loved the marble rye bread. The potatoes were disappointing as they were undercooked. My boyfriend had the caramel apple french toast which was also quite delicious. The prices were really cheap too, very good value. I loved the server and the fact that you could see the whole kitchen. I’m pretty sure there were only two people in the whole place, it was tiny! Very cute, typical American feel in my opinion. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

On a spontaneous trip into Salem, we were looking for a good breakfast spot, and after some Unilocal research we found Debs Diner. From the outside it may not look like much, and it is a really small place, but the food is probably some of the best breakfast food I have ever eaten. The peanut butter and fluff French toast is a gift from the heavens. I also had the Spanish breakfast wrap and was very pleased with it. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area.

Wonderful breakfast! My daughter said it was the best chocolate chip pancake she ever had. My very berry pancake was filled with berries and one pancake fills you up. Greatly appreciated the locals welcoming the out of staters.

GREATDINER! My favorite place locally for breakfast and I’ll keep going back. Their biscuits and gravy, while not always on the menu, are the best north of the Mason Dixon. Their Benedict in all forms of fantastic. Their specials are none like any other and alone are worth the trip in to see what’s new. Only down side is the seating but honestly I get over it and get to know the locals. Overall, awesome place, you should go. Like tomorrow. For breakfast.

Great hometown feel. Service is amazing. The food is cooked right in front of you. A menu with a lot of food yet it’s very unique. Amazingly great food, I’ve been there a few times and everything I get has been absolutely outstanding. I’ve never tipped more for service than I did there. If you are in Salem GOHEREFORBREAKFAST!

I have been there a number of times for breakfast. I have had omelettes, pancakes, French toast. Their food is quick and good. The only problem is that the restroom is in the basement of the next building and hard to get down the stairs. There is plenty of parking

Best breakfast in town! I live around the corner and love this place. I come with my boyfriend and I have brought my niece and nephew– the kids love watching the food get cooked and they also LOVE the pancakes. Everytime they visit me they want to come here for breakfast. I almost always get the same thing, spinach & feta breakfast wrap its enough for 2 meals. The staff is all great no matter how busy they are they get things moving.

On the suggestion of my friend, with whom it was time to get together and eat and chat as ladies do, we stopped here for a late breakfast — 12:30ish. We walked into this little box car diner and sat at the counter. It was a teeny tiny diner and filled with people. I ordered my staple breakfast, two eggs with bacon, home fries and an English muffin toasted with a side of French toast. It was perfect! The bacon was the best bacon I have ever had in any eating establishment ever anywhere. It was all just good. Despite the cramped seating situation, I will definitely return and try those super big muffins I spied on the rack.

This is average diner food at best. Don’t get me wrong Deb’s did a decent job filling the void but in no way approaches 5 stars. You get plenty of breakfast for your money, so it’s a good value(this is most likely why the ratings are high). The staff is friendly and attentive. I had the eggs bennedict florentene, it came with canned bernaise sauce and your typical frozen spinach. My son had eggs, homefries and hash which were plentiful but somewhat bland. Overall a «good» breakfast value but I wouldn’t go out of my way to have breakfast here. Not sure why so many people rate this a 4 or 5?

A darn good breakfast. As others have noted, it’s more of a locals place, but luckily for us we stumbled upon it on Unilocal while searching for the best breakfast in the area. We found it. The diner itself is very small and consists of a long service counter and, if I remember correctly, 4 small tables against the wall. If you’re coming in during their busy times, prepare for a wait(it’s kind of awkward to stand around near the door waiting for someone to finish, but trust me — it’s worth it!)… My wife and I both ordered the Caramel Apple French Toast at the suggestion of our server. Boy was she right! Yummy!!! Probably the best French toast I’ve ever had. Seriously. The portions were also very large and I feel like we definitely got our money’s worth. After having breakfast here the first day of our mini-vacation, we didn’t want to try a where else for the second day. So guess what! We went again the next morning and ordered something else… Again, very tasty! If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try. You won’t be sorry!

I feel the best places to get awesome breakfast is the local diner. Deb’s diner is frequented heavily by locals who know where to get a good meal. This is true diner style in a box car type venue. I ordered the breakfast burrito with steak and shared the caramel French toast. Greasy goodness loaded with calories. We definitely had our fill. The French toast was perfectly sweet without feeling overwhelming. Bottomless coffee, too. I highly recommend for a solid breakfast.

Great little diner. Steak and cheese omelet was yummy. Kinda wish the cheese was more evenly spread in the omelet but not a deal breaker at all. Staff was a little slow but pregnancy will do that sometimes. Again no biggie. Will try it out again next time I’m up on the North Shore. CON: I smelled like fried everything when I left. lol…
