Monday, May 30th7:35pm: Just left after walking in and staring at a woman who was 2 feet away from us behind the cash register wrapping napkins around silverware for 3 minutes. No eye contact; no hello from her or anyone else. I have no idea how long we would have stood there before someone too our order but I didn’t feel like finding out so we went 2 buildings down to Hacienda Real and were greeted, seated and served our drinks before I could finish this review.

So many great childhood memories eating at this random little mexican restaurant. The fajitas and fried zucchini are still my favorite orders when we are passing through on I-5. Yum!

Food: B+. Tortillas(both flour & corn) and salsa were phenomenal. Chix Diabla & Chile Verde were both very good. Service: C+ Our tortillas arrived late, service wasn’t prompt but wasn’t bad. Ambiance: B. It’s a staple Mexican joint. Is what it is yo. Value: A-. Great portions, great prices — excellent value

Very good place to eat the food is great and the service is very prompt and another very important thing to me when eating at Mexican restaurants is there is no chunks of gristle and fat in the meat and at Pedros you will not find chunks of gristle and fat Don Pedros is the only Mexican food I eat in Salem great place

I used to live in Gresham and have eaten at the original Don Pedro #1 for many, many years. I’ve never had a problem, or bad food at any Don Pedro location until I decided to visit this location in Salem. First and foremost the service is complete shit; The employees just stared at us and didn’t say hello or even acknowledge our presence. Then we stood there for several before they ask what we wanted, after they were finished doing whatever they were doing that was so important. When I ordered a side of guacamole for my chips it came out with my food 15 minutes later and the food was greasy and not even good. I really hope this is just a sad copycat, sucks for the good Don Perdo’s out there. I would sue your asses!!!

Best huevos ala Mexicana in town. The prices are reasonable across the menu and the portions are large. Great salsa selection, too.

Don Pedro makes the best Breakfast Burrito in town! The Don Pedro Breakfast Burrito is impressively large and is made with scrambled eggs, potatoes, and chunks of pork sausage that are the largest I’ve ever seen in a breakfast burrito! The burrito is wrapped in a tortilla that is made from scratch on site. You also have the choice of bacon or ham instead of pork sausage and there is even an option to have the burrito«wet style»(covered in an enchilada type sauce) which I haven’t tried yet(but will soon!). The Breakfast Burrito was only $ 3.99. I also recommend the orange juice which is made from fresh squeezed oranges per order(you can actually see the attendant squeezing the oranges from the dining room!). While not normally thought of as a «breakfast place», the high quality and low prices at Don Pedro are the best I’ve seen in town!

Maybe it’s just me, but food always tastes better after a wine festival. So my friend(who was also my DD – that’s bud!) and I, were looking for somewhere to eat. He suggested Don Pedro’s. Since I hadn’t tried them before and I was starving, I figured why not? I am glad we went there. Everything we had was great. I had a chili relleno and pork enchilada combo. Yummy! Chili relleno is one of my staples when I have Mexican food and this just to my liking. The pork enchilada was perfectly seasoned and the meat was tender. My friend had menudo(no silly, not Menudo the band!). Although tripe is not high on my list of faves, I tried it. I was pleasantly surprised. His menudo had a good flavor, was not too spicy, and the texture of its ingredients was fine for my palette. The atmosphere is a little more casual and well lit than your average Mexican restaurant. But I’ll forgo nice murals and dim lighting for great food any day.

The best street tacos ever! We’ve tried different Mexican restaurants in CA but nothing compares… we always stop by when we’re in town visiting. They bring your food out within a reasonable amount of time even when they’re busy, sometimes faster when they’re not full. This place is a dive but clean…

Thank you, Don Pedro’s, for having pictures of food so I don’t have to ask what something is. I had to google huaraches at the last Mexican food place I went to. I still don’t know what it is but with the photo at least now I know I want one. As usual, me and the bf ordered tacos de lengua which were okay but I thought it was kind of gross that the lengua wasn’t cut into small cubes. They were in huge rectangles so it added a grossness factor to the meal. The kids wanted nachos which were very good. The place looks run down, filled with ancient booths that were quickly filling up at dinner time, but I’m starting to think being run down is the norm for many restaurants in Salem. Unilocalers, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

As a scrawney white guy who’s also a little obsessed with mexican fare, I’m always happy to find myself surrounded by people of that nationality while eating it. I had some carnitas tacos that were pretty epic. simple but with everything in it’s right place. I’ll probably go back about every day, seeing as I work about 3 minutes away.

too tired to write something funny– my day trip to salem did not inspire humor, but the one hour drive back to portland was the fullest and happiest my tummy has been in years. shocked this place has not been reviewed. here are the highlights: shitloads of booths. enough for three football teams. pictures of the food where you walk up to and order and pay. i got the burrito plate, with spicy pork. it was FAB. i also am a major fan of the green spicy sauce in the sauce and lettucey type item bar. i have never seen so many morbidly obese people in one restaurant,. possibly ever. they know what’s up.
