By far the best haircut I have ever had. It’s a very friendly environment with an amazing staff that makes you feel at home. Highly recommended!!!

I haven’t gotten my hair cut in four years after a very bad experience with a jcpenny hair dresser. I came here trying to lighten my load of thick hair. I was super nervous but i put my hair in Maria’s hands and she impressed me for sure. I’m happy with my new, and so much lighter hair cut. And I’m so excited to try something new! Like maybe a new hair color ;) I recommend Maria, coming from a person who overcame the fear of getting my hair cut.

Maria is amazing with my daughter’s ethnic hair. She really knows how to do ethnic hair like a pro! We have been to her salon many times since we discovered it last year, she has done amazing braids that have lasted for months, also nice hair cuts, and shares many tips along the way. Also, she keeps both my kids entertained while they are there, prizes, snacks, movies, they love going to the salon. Her prices are reasonable, too. I am so thankful I found Maria, Salem needs more ethnic hair experts!

I met Maria one day when I dropped by her barber shop for the first time back in 2007. Up until then I’d been getting my hair cut where ever I happened to be when I needed one. She said that I was going to get a 25% discount because it was my first time in her shop. I thought that was great but after the hair cut I could not help but tell her that that was the best haircut I’d ever had to date. Since that day, I’ve only gotten two hair cuts by somebody else and that was because I was out of town at the time I needed one. Maria is about the nicest person you would ever want to meet. She is an absolute professional barber and stylist. When my daughter came to town with her children we took them to Maria and they had a ball. She’s got a little race car chair for the little guys to ride in during their hair cut while talking and keeping them occupied the whole time. She moved to her current location at 144 Lancaster Dr. SE, Salem, OR a couple of years ago and has really fixed her new shop up nicely. There are three or four big screen TVs going at the same time. She’ll change the channel for you too. I’d recommend her to everyone. She is a Master Barber and Hair Stylist for both men and women. Drop by and enjoy her hospitality. Sincerely, Craig McElhannon

Expressions is located in a small strip mall on Lancaster Drive and State St. We heard about Expressions from my fiancé’s father, who had been there several times and had nothing but rave reviews. My fiancé had been needing a hair cut for a little while and we had some spare time this trip to Salem — so off we went. First impressions of the salon, were«wow, they’ve got a lot going on here!» Huge flat screen TVs, a bar, and tons of memorabilia of all sorts along the walls and ceiling. The salon is quite large, with two entrances from each side of the strip mall. I was pleased they had a long, church pew type bench for waiting customers — plenty of space with no crowding. Maria, the owner/manager was there with(presumably) her husband and daughter. We happened to be the only customers at the time, so of course my fiancé was taken right in and asked what it would be today. He gave her the description he always give«fade with short, tight sides — spiky on top.» He not only got probably the best cut he’s had in years — but he also got an eyebrow trim, hot towel to the face, and a beard trim — all for a very reasonable price. The whole time Maria was pleasantly chatty, professional, and very precise. At the end, she even hugged him and told him to say hi to his father for her! This is the place we’ll be going to get him is final cut for the wedding day for sure(and any time my man needs a cut)!
