Okay, this place is getting an awesome review for too many reasons to name here. First of all, although it may have nothing to do with the actual bar, they allow dogs in here… or maybe I’m not supposed to write that so that the health department doesn’t shut it down! There was the cutest lab puppy that was being held like a baby and playing with everyone and a few other dogs. So yeah, five stars right there. But other reasons that this place gets a solid review are that it has an awesome vibe, great tasting menu, and each of the ciders has a distinct flavor profile. With all of the options, you’ll definitely find at least one that you want to buy a growler and take home with you. Maybe it was because it was outside of Boston, but everyone just seemed a little friendlier and wanted to engage in conversation. It was something that I haven’t really experienced at other places closer to downtown Boston. They also have corn hole set up outside, although you can bring drinks out there. But yeah, let’s bring it back to the puppies and remember them one more time. Thanks for the good time, Far From the Tree Cider.

Worth the trek up to Salem IMO. You get to enjoy 5 samples for $ 10(and full pours for $ 6) in a cozy, rustic building that’s not terribly far from downtown, served by friendly bartenders. FFTT does both solid classic dry/semi-sweet ciders as well as some more interesting choices– the recent Halloween/Lovecraft special Cthulhu cider made with squid ink and anise was particularly crazy, but I’m personally most partial to the chai cider and the mint cider. I appreciate their creativity and variety, and with the quality of cider you get, I’m always excited to see what they’ll come up with next.

Local cider is best cider. The constant rotating cider choices keep us coming back and the service is great. Just expect to wait if it’s packed out. I love that you can bring your own food and there are some snacks available(a bag o cheese!) Can’t wait until the October rush is over so I can get back in there.
