An old man made lake sits in the middle of this Salem outdoor spot. Alongside the town skate park, there is a playground for the kids and a short walking trail around the lake, it’s also a nice place for lunch at one of the picnic tables. The lake however is closed every single year due to contamination from the geese crap and swimming is not allowed then, not that the water is clear at other points. It’s sad to see a swimming spot with no one there. This was also the scene of a brutal double homicide in 1997 of two local girls and it’s had a bad reputation in the town ever since then. I don’t come here anymore, but if you don’t mind the murderous past and are looking for a place for a quick outdoor lunch, you may enjoy it.
