I was excited to finally try a Vietnamese restaurant in Salem. Compared to many others I’ve tried in Portland and beyond, this place isn’t bad but isn’t great. The salad rolls tasted mostly of mint, and the peanut sauce was quite runny. I came with a group, including one vegetarian who realized the menu is not vegetarian-friendly at all. Some enjoyed their entrees more than others– my chicken noodle bowl was pretty good, the chicken was tasty, and the portion was decent. Service was fairly prompt, though we were there when there was only 1 other table of customers. I’d come back and try something else, I’d steer clear of the salad rolls though.

I’m torn with this place. It’s clean and bright, the Phở is AHMAZING! The broth is rich and flavorful. The service is TERRIBLE. There was some sort of disagreement behind the counter. We sat at the table with our menus closed and waited about 15 minutes before we were even able to place our order.(There were only two tables of two seated) a table came in after us and they were served before us.(We ordered two phos). After we were FINALLY served our soup, we asked for another place setting, and had to get up about 5 minutes after that and go to the counter and ask for it again. Never once were we checked on. Again. Food is spectacular, but you have to weigh is the cruddy service worth the trouble.

This is the best beef phở in town no question. The broth is authentic, flavorful and complex. The service is always very prompt but not overly friendly. If this place had bubble tea it would probably be the family favorite.

I went here once but because of the service have not been back since. I took a family member here who is very large and they treated us very poorly. They did not make sure we had everything we needed, our drink cups remained empty and we were checked on once. What they lacked in service they made up with in food as it was very good.

Looks unassuming from the outside but the inside is very nice. The service is great and the food is excellent. I have come here off and on for years.

My rating is based on the Beef Phở and service. The Phở was yummy had plenty of beef and great flavor. I ate every last drop and wanted to take the old vietnamese woman home that cooked it with me and make her my adopted grandma but I didn’t. My 3yr old and I came in about 11:10am were seated right away, given menus and 3 minutes later my order was taken. About 3 more min later my delicious food was in front of me. I ordered a side of rice and cucumbers for my boy. A great lunch, happy tummy and fast service for $ 10 cant beat that. I will eat here next time I’m in Salem.

I ordered the stuffed chicken wings and they were really good and filling. Also had shrimp wraps for an appetizer which was pretty tasty. Food came quickly enough, only poor part of the visit was the man and woman who were very short and rude, pretty sure there the owners. I’ll still come back for the food, maybe to go is in order

First time customer and I was pleasantly surprised. Very fresh — pork phở w/shrimp — awesome! Fried shrimp platter was excellently crunchy! Can’t wait to return.

This is my favorite phở place ever. They say don’t judge a book(or restaurant) by it’s cover and that sentiment could not be more true in this case. It’s worth it.

This place is so good. My husband and I are from the Bay Area so we know quality asain cuisine when we find it. 3 stars for the awsome food. The phở was perfect and the produce plate was fresh and full of sprouts. Their peanut sauce is thick like it’s supposed to be. We went to Super Phở a few weeks back and all they gave us was basil and jalapeño. No spouts! No lime! Watery peanut sauce! This place has great customer service. Thats the fourth star. I can’t give 5 because the décor is… lacking. but you know what, they have a shop next door that sells Vietnamese sandwhices!

Their hot drip coffee is amazing! Great noodle, vermicelli, phở, and more delicacies. When in Salem check it out. Excellent service and willing to explain dishes I am unfamiliar with. My whole family-including kids loves this place.

Went on a rainy and cold Thursday night. There weren’t many people and we were seated right away. I don’t know much about Vietnamese food so I struggled to understand some of the explanations on the menu, especially since there weren’t any pictures. I asked the waitress for advice, and even though she appeared to be Vietnamese, she didn’t have any strong opinions about the food. A previous reviewer mentioned the lemon grass chicken so I opted for that. We so got spring rolls, tofu soup, wonton soup, and a big bowl of phở. The best thing as this restaurant was the wonton soup. It consisted of many savory wonton in a hot refreshing broth. The worst things? The lemon grass chicken was basically some tough chicken in a weird yellowish sauce with a bunch of onions. It tasted like something I would be served at a cafeteria for lunch in middle school. The tofu soup was the same as the wonton soup but there weren’t any wontons, just some tofu cubes. It wasn’t tasty or delicious but I ate it out of hunger. Spring rolls were alright. Phở seemed good too. Next time I will not be ordering the lemon grass chicken and will try something else.

My husband and I both had a lemongrass dish. His was squid and mine was chicken. Both were fabulous and the complimentary tea was great. The sugar had to be replaced because someone had put water in it, the male waiter(they don’t wear name tags) was moody, short and cut you off when speaking but the female waiter was polite, courteous, and catered to any question asked. It was like day and night. Stay away from the egg rolls, they are soggy, the oil needs to be changed and they smelled funny. I asked for peanut sauce and I don’t know what they brought me but it just tasted like brown vinegar sauce. Weird. Anyways the over all experience was good, and the prices are a little high for the level of customer service they give but the quality of the main dishes were good and the portions were large. I’ll be back but probably with a to go order. Its not worth staying unless you get the female waitress.

Pretty good phở, for Salem especially. Unfortunately, the salad rolls were neither especially fresh nor tasty, at least not in a good way. I haven’t tried anything else here but based on my experience so far I might just stick with the phở. If you crave more food than that you should probably be dieting anyway.

This place freakin’ rocks! Hands down the best Phở you can get in Salem for sure(I’ve tried them all.) I’ve had a few of their other dishes which have been great. The prices can’t be beat; you eat like a champ and often pay less than you would at your typical fast food place for food that’s trash and terrible for you. I would give this place 5 stars but I think they could’ benefit from a little face lift, it looks old and run down. It’s not dirty but you can tell there hasn’t been anything new purchased here since the 90s(at best) but you’ve heard the saying… «Don’t judge a book by its cover.»

I question the sanitation of this place every time I go in. I once saw it featured on a segment of «Dirty Dining» on the Channel 12 news. It’s scared me to eat there since then. I do not care for the Phở here, but I don’t mind the Bun. The phở doesn’t have the same quality and flavoring as I have experierenced elsewhere. I also think the portions are slightly smaller and the service, quality and freshness has suffered the last couple visits.

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Salem. I’ve always had great food here and even introduced my parents to it. They loved it as well. Not sure if the restaurant still serves Clay Pot Catfish but that was TODIEFOR. And, of course, I do love Phở. The Phở bowl at Kim Huong is just the right amount for me. The broth is tasty and the beef was tender. I’m kind of a Basil fiend so I would have preferred getting more of that sweet herb to accompany my bean sprouts. But small details aside, I’m always satisfied when I leave this restaurant.

Ummm… can you say YUM??? Love this place. How did they get less stars than Super Phở in the area, and Super Phở wasn’t as Super as Kim Huong. Well anyway, great lemongrass pork and phở. No egg patty unfortunately. Though last time the phở didn’t have much beef, if next time they have more, I may increase the stars. The beef was pretty tender and I like my beef tender. Their Vietnamese coffee is great as well. They have a couple salads too that are amazing, they had mango or something in them, I normally don’t go for sweet salads but these were daaaaaaym good. I will take all the best phở places in Oregon, combine what they each do great into one place that does everything great, and call it Phở-King, like the one in Oakland, CA. Well maybe I can’t take the same name, so perhaps it shall be called Phở-King-Yummy! Hey family, want to go to Phở K… Prices are better than in Portland for sure. I will be back.
