A beacon of light in Salem, stop by for thoughtfully curated wines and beers, very cute kitchen stuff, and a few items by local artists that you’re not going to find anywhere else. This shop has the perfect mix of items and it’s always fun to stop in and browse. At holiday time, I like picking up a mix of fun unique items to put together in a gift basket. The staff is always lovely and even during hectic Halloween in Salem, they go out of their way to be upbeat and helpful. They have occasional wine tastings, and I’ve happened upon some really nice new finds in the wine department. Located on the main drag in the heart of downtown Salem.

Really nice home and kitchen store. There are so many fun and useful items. It would be really easy to pick up a hostess gift here. There is a large specialty food section, with many local products. Where they really shine though is the beer and wine selection. They have a huge selection of both with many harder to find items. It’s definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Craft brews, wine, desserts and gifts. We dropped in one evening and LOVED the yummies we picked up for the hotel! A DEFINITE must if you’re looking for gourmet gifts and libations!

Very nice people working here. Many products are unique, therefore can be a little pricey if you are use to the local supermarket, but the balsamic vinegar aged in a barrel for 18 years is worth every penny. You’ll impress any guest with your own homemade dressing made with this product. It’s delicious, if you can imagine a balsamic vinegar being delicious. lol Champlain Chocolate bars are the register are amazing! They have free wine tasting which I look forward to trying soon. I bought an Italian wine which almost sold out after a wine tasting.(I arrived the following day after the tasting) It was delicious, and the price $ 17 was reasonable for the quality. A table runner with matching table place mats is $ 50 to give you more ideas of the pricing. I didn’t buy it, it wasn’t something I liked enough, but may be perfect for someone else.

This is a great little shop in Downtown. Their wine selection is great(especially local wines including a delicious cranberry one) Anywhere you can come in and make your own six pack with local craft beers it makes it a must go to place.(this was mentioned in a few reviews but I enjoyed it!) The staff made recommendations and I’ll be coming back again with my out of town friends!

We made our own six pack with different local craft beers. The cashier was extremely helpful with our selection. :) it was cool, as a visitor, to be able to buy some of the local brews.

Amazing local shop with tons of local products! They even carry a wine where every bottle funds the restoration of 100 local wild oysters!

Love just walking around in this shop. So many good things. Their beer and wine selection is also tons of fun. Lots of kinds I haven’t tried before. I could easily spend my whole paycheck here. The staff here is also great. They always have suggestions and often times they have tasting on the weekends.

When we first passed this place I was convinced it was a Bath & Body Works type place, but upon closer inspection I realized it was a specialty foods, beer, and wine store. Totally my kind of thing! Annnnnnnnd — they do an array of tastings here(mead, wines for Thanksgiving, etc.) which, c’mon, how can you not love? Also, there were olive oil samples out when I was there, but I couldn’t find anything to actually sample it with(no bread or spoons or toothpicks, nothing!). I was disappointed initially with the overabundance of Stonewall Kitchen’s products that seemed to be absolutely everywhere here. Being from Maine, I was hoping for something a little more specifically local than that. I’m not sure I ever really found that here, but I did appreciate the simplicity and lay-out of the store, along with their beer and wine selection. It had quite the variety and the prices were fabulous! I had heard of banana bread beer, but hadn’t found it until coming here(I also purchased a pecan-flavored beer which I had never seen before either). Excited to try those! The lone staff member seemed super pleasant, though she was unaware they even carried banana bread flavored beer(and thus couldn’t answer any of my follow-up questions regarding the sticky toffee pudding beer the same company made). If you’re someone who loves either/both useful or quirky food or drink-related gifts… or just like quality, premium food and drink ingredients, this place is definitely worth checking out!

I quite like this place. They’ve got a bunch of different stuff in here, including a big variety of local beers, ciders, wines, etc. Also, all kinds of snacks, chocolates, and various other things. Cool little shop, definitely worth a look

A cute, small store that has a surprisingly wide selection of various grocery items, wine, beer, cookware, and gifts. They have many locally produced items as well. I bought a jar of apple butter from nearby Connecticut(I believe) to give to my mom when I return home to PA. I also picked up a locally made wine and a French rose wine. Some specialty pasta, organic lavender honey, a handful of chocolates and candies for my husband. And we could’ve kept going! I have to go back before I leave to get this pretty bundt cake baking dish and a box of lemon bundt cake mix. And I’m sure I’ll end up with a couple other things! This is my first visit to Salem and I’m staying at the Hawthorne. It blew me away how CLOSE everything, including this store, is in this quaint little town. This store is literally steps from Hawthorne, in an adorable area with boutiques, cafés and gift shops, all along a cobble stone street with no cars(perhaps a passing trolley doing a tour). You can take your time. Relax. Meander. Follow the red line and pop into whatever shop speaks to you! It’s nice to know that Pamplemousse is not only convenient but also houses amazing, unique items perfect for gifts or for a little treat for yourself. Oh, and the price point is beyond reasonable. Another theme of the majority of the retail spots I’ve hit up in Salem!

I loved the set up of this store. Every where you turned, there was something else to see. They had olive oil samples to try. They have seasonal and themed wine, beer, coffees, housewares, etc. It’s a good place to pick up something different from Salem.

I love this place so much. I am «nesting» because I just moved into a kick ass apartment. and yea… this place’s kitchen stuff plus beer kind of hurts my brain. They have a simple selection of craft beers, and yummy wines. The kitchen things a nice and cute. IMO(in my opinion) a store in a populated section of the country does not need a huge selection of craft beers and wonderful wines. If you are looking for the huge selections… go somewhere else, somewhere where they aren’t as informative and kind. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of five is because the prices can be a little high for CERTAIN things. I love it here.

As a man, you take one look at the outside of this store and you become upset. Yep, your girlfriend/wife is dragging you into another chick store full of kitchen utensils, fancy jams and potpourri that’ll make you nauseous. Trust me gentlemen, this store is not a chick store. They may have kitchen utensils and fancy jams but they are all things that you wouldn’t mind trying or you can picture using. I walk around this store and go «Sweet! I could use this when I make my famous steak!»(I dont have a famous steak, I’m just sayin’) Not only that, they have a great wine section and a cooler of craft beer with mix 6-packs! How can you go wrong! The staff is always friendly and willing to help you if you are looking for anything in particular. Lots of great gift ideas if you just browse around and they love local products. They often have wine tastings too! Great store and manly enough for me! Boom!

Cool concept. They sell pantry items and kitchen housewares items. It kind of reminds me of Peppercorn in Boulder, CO. But this place is pretty pricey, and the lights are dim. Maybe I’m just not into goth kitchen/gourmet food stores.

Picture it. Salem. The last weekend shopping day before Christmas. I settle down to begin my Black Pepper & Pecan Brittle for holiday office treats when I discover that my candy thermometer is 10 degrees off. Panic sets in. Having made the drive to the Liberty Tree Mall to buy the cookie tins at Michael’s the day before, I am well aware that the drive and traffic might just kill me if I have to make it again. Where, oh where can I find a candy thermometer? Fret not, Black Pepper and Pecan Brittle maker, for your neighborhood kitchen store carries them!(Another reason I am so glad to live in Salem — how many towns have their own kitchen store?) A five minute drive and the local store and I are supporting one another. Great feeling and a great little place! This will be my new«go to» kitchen store — no more behemoth chains for me! Oh — and it was $ 5.99! Fantastic if you ask me.

Awesome little store. Well, not too little. They have a great assortment of both local items and kitchen-y stuff(I picked up a great set of coasters featuring maps of the local Cap Ann harbors). A lot of the kinds of things that you cannot find without going out to the Internet. Great place to find gifts for the foodie in your life, or for yourself! They also feature a selection of wines, as well as spreads, spices, and just various and sundry random kitchen-y gadgets. The store is well lit, clean, and well organized. I really wish there were more stores like this around.
