The ONLY good music store in Salem. Lots of good music and music memorabilia. Pretty good selection of vinyl too.

Found a really good CD for only 2 dollars! The store has a bunch of vinyls, tapes, atrack tapes, dvds, cds, Blue Rays, etc. Independent music store with nice gems at reasonable prices.

Went on Record Store Day and the owner, Kit, took the time to educate me regarding my interest in starting to listen to vinyl LPs. Great service, great staff, and great ownership! Please support them!

This is the only record store in the entire state of Oregon where I have been able to find Hole 7″ singles(and for reasonable prices no less), and for that alone I can’t rate this place high enough. I’ve made trips here from Portland and have always been treated beyond nicely by the staff. I peruse their selection of 45’s they keep in alphabetized boxes every time I’ve come in, and they actually let me come behind the counter to browse. Aside from their great selection of records, CDs, movies, and rock & roll memorabilia, the greatest asset this place has is simply that the owners are extremely, EXTREMELY nice people, which is actually not all that common in the record shop business.

This is a great music shop. Prices are reasonable for local shops, and they can special-order almost anything. The bargain used CD selection is fantastic, and I have made a habit of checking it whenever I’m in their area of town. Customer service is great, and trade-in values are more than fair. Anyone who loves music owes it to themselves to visit Ranch Records.

Maybe I’m old school. Maybe I think used stores should have a little grit in their gravy… that they staff of any used record store should be a little surly like those in high Fidelity. I have spent most of my life passing over the stacks of a used store, listening to some unknown indie band over a speaker, listiening to cool salespeople talk about things even I didn’t know about. Some places are supposed to have a flavor of awesome. And awesome does not always taste like milk-toast. Salem is blessed to have Ranch(though I do miss the old spot)

Look, I understand it’s hard to keep independent businesses afloat, but the prices here are outrageous. $ 10+ over the list price on scores of new vinyl and ridiculous(see: eBay) prices on Beatles/Elvis items. Pretty good selection for being small & local. You can also trust the used stuff to be in tip-top shape. No duds in the used bin. Oh yeah, they also sell bootlegs so buyer beware. Do your research before you go here.

A great local record store, with friendly and helpful staff and a decent selection. David, the manager, will always greet you(by name if he knows it) and answer any questions you have without judgement or scoffing. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’ll usually offer to order it for you. Regarding organization, it’s all organized alphabetically, with new arrivals at the front of the store. There’s a whole section for local music, and you can tell that the management takes a lot of pride and stock in Salem itself. They truly love the community, and having a record store that believes in its local music scene is something that I think is really important.

I like this place. I went in to look for a cd, but they didn’t have it. Not to fear though, I was informed they could order it for me and I wouldn’t even have to pay for it, all I had to do was show up and grab it at my earliest convenience. Their organization leaves much to be desired for the non-music enthusiast, but with their vast collection I don’t blame them. Besides, what music store has good organization? That just seems impossible. They also support local talent. Selling local cd’s as well as far out ones, they also support and occasionally sponsor local concerts. All in all, an excellent local place to get great music in salem :)

Ranch migrated from their old store location to this new one. Its actually a lot nicer and has an interesting layout. This is the place to go to find those strange nuggets of media you won’t get at your commercial corporate tool locations. Stop in every so often you’ll never know what you find. If you leave this place empty handed you must be broke.

Awesome store. Great, off-the-wall selection and entertaining sections such as «Weird and Random albums.» I highly recommend this store for any music shopping you may be doing. They are comparable in price to any chain store, the staff is welcoming and you’re supporting a local business! What’s better than that?!?

Like to shop here whenever but prefer the McMinnville store more. I know it’s moving across from the Cherriots office.
