Almost $ 50 for breakfast for two in a storefront. The food was poor to mediocre and the service was worse. Never again.

I am disappointed in the quality of food vs the pricing. I went for lunch and ordered a chicken parm panini. The chicken was grilled vs a chicken cutlet. It was okay but left me wanting for a real chicken parm sandwich. I always go back a second time because it could be an off day. I went there for breakfast. I ordered eggs Benedict with a price tag of $ 10.95. It was okay but that was it — no home fries. My fiend got a small apple pancake. It was this huge pancake with apple pie filling and whip cream. It was soggy from the whip cream. The food is okay. The atmosphere is clean and clean and the wait staff is average. He price of the fools does not equal the quality of food and service. I won’t go back. It is a shame because bickford closed which was down the street and Mary Ann’s is opening which will be a bit of a quality improvement.

The young female greeter was as sweet as can be, she brought us coffee and made sure our coffee mugs were always full. Our waitress on the other hand didn’t even say hello or introduce herself, she came over with ‘are you ready to order?’. My boyfriend asked for poached eggs, hash and toast. She then asked if he wanted the eggs on the hash and he said no, he’d have them on his toast. Her response was, «so you want the eggs over your toast?» sounding rather annoyed as if it were an unreasonable request. When our food came, brought to us by another waitress, we asked if we could have some water. It never came. Our waitress came over, before we could take a bite into our food, and gave us the check. The ‘poached’ eggs weren’t poached at all, they were hard boiled. Once we were finished eating we waited almost 30 minutes for our waitress to come back to take our cash for the bill and bring us change. she never came. we actually had to go up to the bar and ask if we could cash out because we needed to leave. If it weren’t for the waitress we had I’d probably give this place another shot.

Four of us just had supper here. It’s taken them a little while, but they really have their act together now. The food was really good and the portions were, as usual, huge. Our waitress was excellent, very attentive without being overbearing. Definitely, now, a place to go for a good meal in Salem.

Best place in salem and all the surrounding areas. I’m sick of all the same old restaurants. I.e. Chili’s, Applebee’, not your average Joe’s, fridays ect. Rockingham café has homemade food fresh everyday and the best seafood around… the experience is very personal and family oriented. The cook himself comes out and speaks to every customer and always makes sure you are 100% satisfied with your meal. So go there and try it. You won’t be sorry

My wife and I are new to town. So we thought we would check it out. It was around five pm. We sat down and we both enjoyed what we ordered. My wife ordered the meat loaf dinner an I the Liver and onion dinner it was to die for! A little $$$. But while worth it. I find that the café is failing! When the owner isn’t there the café suffers.

PRO — The breakfast food was VERY good, there was plenty of it & service was fine too. We will definitely be back. CON — The tables are crammed in really tight, reminds me of Maddies down the street in that way. If you score a booth, it might be better, but my booth exit was blocked by someone in a chair this AM. If you like horses or horse racing, they have alot of nice pictures on the wall. If you are in the area, check out the Rockingham Café.

The turkey club was fresh and had plenty of meat. The homemade cole slaw was delicious. French fries were hand cut and very tasty. Prices are good, too.

This place hit the spot and was exactly what I expected from them for breakfast. I gave them 5 stars because the food was delicious, the service was great, and the place was clean and had a cute theme. I got eggs and corned beef hash and my boyfriend got sausage, eggs, and French toast. I would definitely come back again for a quick breakfast and want to try lunch so I have an excuse to try one of the amazing looking desserts in the deli case!

There’s not much to write home about here. The first time in, there was literally not a person in the restaurant. I got a cheeseburger and my dining companion an omelette and home fries. The breakfast items were the same old you can get anywhere. The burger was pretty massive, but obviously frozen. The tomato on it was cut into massive chunks far too big for the sandwich and was and was a green and not even close to ripe. The waitress was a ghost most of the tome we were there and barely spoke to us. The prices are astronomical with normal breakfast items going for 3 to 4 dollars more than an average price. 15 dollars for a lumberjack special? And that’s before tax and tip. One extra star because it was pretty damn spotless, but between this place, Maddie’s and Sammy J’s Salem is a joke in the breakfast department. This place sucks and it’s sad, but Denny’s would be your best option for a Salem breakfast at this point.

We have visited twice– once when they had just opened up and once in the last week. The good– Clean establishment, quick service and most importantly, the food is excellent and was even better the second time. The not so good– We had ordered hash browns but they never came. When the bill came, I mentioned that we never received the hash browns. We were then told, «oh I didn’t put them on there anyway.» No biggie but come on, at least apologize. Don’t make patrons feel like a bother. Customer service is half the battle in this business. There is no bad per se and I wish them good luck but please tighten up the service.

I ate breakfast at the new Rockingham café in Salem next to the Colosseum Resteraunt. I peeked at some bad reviews just before writing thus. They must have changed for the better. I had pancakes, home fries and bacon. It was great the four friends with me all had great breakfasts too. We usually go to Maddies but we will be back here!

First plan was to go to Maddies for breakfast, but god knows the wait there is never less than 45 minutes on a Sunday. We happened to see Rockingham Cafes sign saying they offered breakfast so we used them as our plan b option. BAD option. Got the veggie omelet and the thing looked like egg soup and the hash browns were even worse –soaked with oil, soggy and unappetizing. The toast wasn’t even toasted properly… sad. Needless to say I stopped eating after a couple bites, my boyfriend on the other hand ate his whole plate but has been paying for it ever since Moral of the story? Worth to wait for Maddies
