This store is near my home and they do have things nobody else in town has, like some very good sausage brands, so I’ve tried to give them trade, but over the past 15 years staff quality has gone in the toilet. I’ve never been able to try their deli or fish selection because I can’t get the stone-faced harridans to wait on me! Thank God they installed automated checkout stations, or I would have bailed long ago. Even there you have to wait until the checker damn well feels like coming over to clear your liquor purchase. The store does a tremendous trade and it can be unpleasant elbowing one’s way through the crowds. Handicapped parking is totally inadequate for the visitation and a handicapped shopper would have to shop at like seven in the morning, and I’m not sure even that would work. In the produce dept. things like lettuce which have to be consumed quickly after picking are not good but a lot of other things are very satisfactory, and they get unusual items like hachiya persimmons, good ones, obtainable nowhere else. I eat virtually no solid meats, and can’t comment personally, although a short-order cook told me he preferred Winco meats. The bulk foods section, in selection and quality, is far and away the best in town.

we’re very lucky here in the Northwest to have a grocery store like this. buy in part their pricing on all grocery items no one else can beat. because of the volume of produce that they sell and their price. On this to you can’t beat it. their deli department does a fine job, top notch fried chicken, and again no one can beat their price. nice variety of cold cuts that are reasonably priced. the seafood department is OK, by what you know is good. there are certain items in the meat department that I won’t buy. mostly steaks. pork chops whole pork loins whole chicken and chicken breast they do a good job with. some other specialty items in the case, nice as well. the frozen department dairy department and bakery have a good selection at wonderful prices. the bonus to this establishment is that is an employee owned company. they now have a huge organic vegetable section and fruit section.

This is probably my main grocery store. really cant beat these prices. The employees are so friendly. .ive been shopping here for years. the one thing I wish is that they carried a larger selection of organic and specialty items(allergy friendly) .although I have noticed its gotten a lot better in the last few years.

Great deals. Yes, the fork lift guys need to calm down. The deli sans and chicken had a large price hike Funny, Rick H mentioned the pretty checker. He is correct. Friendly, competent, and very pretty. She has been there for ages. A keeper! I wish the deli was open for morning commute.

Winco Deli has raise the prices on chickens and salads. Many bulk items have recently been jacked up too.

Can never go wrong with Winco, even if you’re a health nut like yours truly. You can find great deals on produce, canned veggies, yogurt and frozen fruit/veggie mixes. This place is perfect if you are looking to eat healthy and if you are on a budget. Every time I go the staff have been pretty friendly, kind of awkward at times but aren’t we all? Make sure you bring your own bags too.

Decent pricing, but the produce was of average quality and the facility itself is not very pleasant.

My family has been buying their groceries from WinCo since I was too young to remember. We usually shop at the one on Lancaster but we decided since we needed to go to Trader Joe’s we would try the south Salem store instead. Both of us were less than impressed. The store felt dirtier than the one on Lancaster. Their meats looked rather iffy and the staff were not very helpful at all. We will be sticking with the other WinCo. This place was just gross.

I love this particular Winco compared to the others around the Salem area. It’s a clean store and the shelves are always stocked with what I am looking for. Employees are always friendly and helpful. I actually enjoy bagging my own groceries because I can sort my food into frozen, refrigerated, canned, boxed, etc… where as at the other grocery stores I don’t have that option. Plus I use the brown grocery sacks afterwards to pitch my recycles in.

I prefer this winco to all the others around here. It is clean and the cashiers are usually pretty nice and chatty with the customers. The floor personal seem to like to help out a customer in need. The prices are even cheaper then a lot of the same items at the winco in Independence. Which I don’t understand. The stockers can be a little rude sometimes but most of them are pretty polite and try to accomodate the customers. I still find even at this store that some of the time sensitive products are not tended to as quickly as they should be so sometimes I find that my ice cream was half melted and then refrozen so it taste awful. But all in all this is one of the better winco’s in Salem and definately better then the one in Independence. I drive all the way into their store, which is around 15 to 18 miles one way for me to go just to shop at the better winco. I live about a half mile from the one in Independence, but refuse to shop there because of the lines, emplyee rudeness and awful products and dirty store.

a few months ago i loathed this place… based on past memories of long check out lines — and costco-like aisles and aisles of food. but lately i’ve gone back — and have gotten used to it. the prices are really cheap. their cheese selection is great(they even carry the specialty line of Tillamook Cheese!). their check out lines aren’t as long. so overall — go here over Walmart. Don’t give that piece of crap store any more of your business.

I love to shop at this place. I find things at this place to be really cheap. I love the amount of space in the aisles and the amount of the selections you can choose from. Only bad part about this place is everyone else knows what I just said above, so you won’t ever go in there and find a short line, but don’t worry; with speedy check out clerks that man 2 customers per line you won’t have to wait for very long. Best part about this place is their sandwiches that they’ve got near the deli in the back. Those things are over a foot long, stuffed with meats, cheeses, and with free condiment packages, you can’t resist the $ 4 price tag.
