Just had great meal with great service. The lobster risotto was delicious. Steak tips were tasty.

Two and a half stars. Simple fare, hearty portions, friendly service. Much of its traffic is probably thanks to regulars and the adjacent tourist attractions. The small bar was fairly full whenever I passed by(and perhaps that’s why the specials are only listed within view of the bar), but there was lots of seating in the dining room area, including a cute little couch. Our dining companion raved about the Washington Apple cocktail, but we were pressed enough for time not to risk the extra wait– only one or two servers working that night. A large serving of seasoned chicken was tenderized and served with more artichokes than mushrooms over fettuccine in enough creamy sauce to coat. Aggressive amount of capers, some herbs and a little lemon juice. Future hit list: bourbon pecan french toast.

I love this place, its small, personal, and the food is never disappointing. Local caught tuna specials, swordfish special that is amazing. And the ever popular witches brew steak. Be warned though. It is a locals bar so you will notice a lot of people know each other there. So be friendly!

It’s nice to walk into a restaurant, in Salem, in October, during the madness of Halloween and have an amazing meal. The food and service were spot on. Sue was great!

Picked this place because it had a cute name and October in Salem. There was no place to wait for a table, felt really in the way. Then TEN minutes after we came in and started waiting, more people came in to wait. And a group of 4 and ANOTHER group of 2 got seated before my group of 2. Group of 4, sure, they need a bigger table. But seating another group of 2 first is ridiculous. These hostesses had no idea what they were doing, were totally disorganized and overwhelmed. Maybe this place is totally empty the rest of the year. The food was just ok. The only reason they get 2 stars is the cute name and the pretty décor of the dining room.

Great place yo eat. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are great. We had the steak and cheese sub and the salami and cheese panini and are very good

Having lived in Salem for 7 years I’ve never eaten here. We gave it a go tonight. It was okay. I won’t be racing back down to eat here. The clam chowder had a nice consistent but was overloaded with pepper. The baked stuffed haddock was cooked well but the stuffing was a smear of mush on top The potato wedges were glorified French fries. Meh Good service & prices.

This place is NOT what it used to be. Food has gone down hill! Definitely do not get potato skins.

My 3 kids and my wife stopped in here on our pretend to be a tourist day and we really enjoyed it. The prices were good, my burger was excellent. There are a lot of locals here, businessmen, people from the businesses around there and I liked the atmosphere.(Most sat and had lunch at the bar while we were the only ones in the dining room. Hope to come there for dinner when that beautiful fireplace is going. Excited to go back sometime really check out the menu more!

I’ll start with something positive. Witch’s Brew is a very nice looking place. It has a warm fireplace, beautiful paneling and a lot of windows. Everything else about this place left a lot to be desired. We went to eat here for lunch on Saturday, around 2pm. It was quiet with about three or four other occupied tables. Nevertheless, the waitress was extremely slow and practically neglected us. When we finally got the food, I was not surprised by the bland meal in front of me. I ordered a fillet sandwich. It was good enough to consume, that’s all. My partner got bbq steak tips, which he ordered medium-well. They were practically burnt on the outside and not fully cooked in places inside. The waitress never came to check on us during our meal. She also didn’t ask«how is everything», maybe because she knew how boring and badly prepared the food was. I would avoid this place and go elsewhere. You’re money will be better spent at an establishment where they know how to cook and serve.

Absolutely dreadful. We ordered a chicken sandwich, french onion soup, and stuffed mushrooms. The chicken sandwich was a pounded chicken breast covered in some neon yellow grease, the stuffed mushrooms were only warm, dried out and could have been stuffed with cat food as opposed to crab meat. I couldn’t help but think of a Chef Ramsey Kitchen disasters. Even the diet cola was flat. Would only recommend this place to my enemies. I will give them credit that they took the mushrooms off of our bill when I complained.

Great food, Sandy was our waitress and she was amazing. The appetizers came out instantly and was fresh and delish. I had the chicken quesadillas and the witch brew steak cooked medium, came out scrumptious to say the least. The sizzling veggies that came with it were not over cooked and we’re perfectly crunch and you can tell by the flavor it wasn’t sitting in the freezer for days. AMAZINGFOOD. AMAZING Atmosphere & and an Amazing Waitress, Thank you Sandy!

Service, food, ambiance were all amazing. Sandy, our waitress was great. Felt like we were at her house for dinner! The prices are also very reasonable. It isn’t often that I feel so inclined to write a review, let alone give a place 5 stars. I travel for work and eat in restaurants almost every weekday night. This meal was that inspiring!
