So you may not know this… but I’m gay. And growing up as a gay child means that you will play with your mom’s things. Dresses, shoes, tea sets, jewelry, etc. It’s like god’s rule or something. So beyond being the cutest, plumpest little gaybie you ever did see, I was also a terror. A terror who lost his mother’s engagement ring in the front lawn during dress up… Years later after having survived what should have been a trip to the orphanage or glue factory, I graduated college and got a real job that paid real money, 401K options, water cooler — the works. Feeling kind of guilty still for losing that ring, I decided that I should use some of the cash from the real paychecks to buy my mom a little summinsummin. Making my way through the glamorous tax-free Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH I shopped each jeweler asking questions and taking notes. Upon completing my investigation, I felt Zales had the most knowledgeable staff with the best recommendations and fairest prices. Beyond that, their selection seemed higher quality and they definitely had more options when it came to style. Some other shop tried to sell me fake rocks that were bigger and cheaper? Ya okay, momma don’t want nonnahyo Princess Jasmine dress up shit. In the end mom opened up a little box with a diamond and emerald(my birthstone) ring and a little guilt came off my shoulders. Thanks to the staff at Zales for making a woman happy and a gay son less scared of being smothered with a pillow.
