Beyond the Bunz

Good place to grab a decent burger. Nice to have a good burger place with decent prices close to home. The staff was super friendly. I had the southwest burger and it didn’t disappoint. Also they give you a free drink your first time there so go check it out!

(06÷16÷16) Had my eye on this place for a while so we came in to give it a try. We were the only ones when we got there so we took our time going over the menu and I landed on the Mac N Cheese burger minus the tomato, add bacon.
The burger was good and not as messy as I thought it might be with the Mac n cheese. The patty is definitely hand formed and the bacon was cooked nice. The Mac n Cheese wasn’t real cheesy but still worked for me. Just a well made burger all around.
The French Fries were forgettable. Didn’t care for the flavor or the texture. They looked crispy but were limp when I picked them up.
I would come back for a burger again if I’m in the area.

Had to try it, glad I did. I love new restaurants. They don’t advertise, but I understand why they don’t have to. The food was excellent. Staff were very nice and attentive. They were professional and followed up with us after the meal. They offered a free canned soda for paying in cash. Love the «hospital ice». Yeah it’s in a covered tub, but this a «greasey spoon style burger house» and that’s ok with me. You see, when you see piles of REAL bacon, large mushrooms NOT from a can, hand formed patties, and generous portions, not much else matters… except the flavor. Let me tell you, this place hit the spot. Try it. The prices are good and you won’t leave hungry!

I ordered the philly cheese steak smothered with mac’n’cheese. Its not in the menu so you gotta ask. And yess it was a damn great philly steak !!

Delicious great prices small place but clean. Had Mac n cheese burger and bacon cheddar fries. Yummy yummy.

We went in because the Unilocal reviews seemed pretty good. It’s a little hole in the wall restaurant. We missed it the first time we drove by.
While ordering, the (who I am assuming is) owner greeted us and took our order. He gave us suggestions. We ended up ordering the Mac and cheese burger, chili cheese fries, and a cheese steak. We also got a free can of soda for paying with cash, which was a nice surprise.
We sat down after we ordered and waited for our food.
We had ordered sodas to go with our meals, and they were completely flat and there was a bucket of ice next to the soda machine which had no scoop to get the ice out and most of the ice was melted.
I asked for a canned soda instead.
The food came out and was pretty good for the most part. The burger was yummy, but the fries were dried up and very greasy. The cheese steak had very little cheese and seasoning but was still good.
The restaurant however could use some updating. There is a large hole in the ceiling and everything inside appears to be in need of a good cleaning. Part of the soda machine broke off in my fiancé’s drink.
If they update and clean things up a bit we would return since the food is decent, but otherwise I would have to pass on going back.

Tried it because of the reviews, didn’t care for the food.

Loved the burgers here… Only downside was the location is small but other than that enjoyed every bite.

Finally got to try this place out last week. When we arrived there was only one person manning the phones/​register/​grill so the wait was about 25 minutes or so, after about a ten min wait to order. Normally, that would be too long since we were the only people in there, but we werent in a rush, there were phone orders and a few walk ins ahead of us, so it was actually pretty impressive that the poor girl was holding down the fort by herself while still being pleasant & banging out orders pretty quickly. When the food arrived, it was good, but my Philly cheese was VERY salty (probably my karma for sneaking a Philly when I’m not supposed to) & for the price, not very many onion rings in our order. Also disappointed that for almost $ 5 they were not the greatest, tasted frozen. We paid close to $ 28 for a burger & fries, philly, onion rings and one drink. Because of that, we wouldn’t go back, but I’m glad I tried it anyway, I’d heard a lot of good things and it might have just been an off day. I’d give 3 stars if I could, especially bc there wasn’t ice available for our drink unless we dug it out of a bin that was just left out on a cart, which I wasn’t a fan of. My son loved his burger, so if you go, I’d try that, but skip the fries and onion rings and ranch (which was from a bottle, SO disappointing on top of already disappointing fries & ORs).

REALLY GREAT burgers! I have seen this place but never stopped in until I found a review that sounded good. Great food and great service. I wanted a lettuce-​wrapped burger and they fixed it right up.
I agree the gray ice bin is sort of strange, but the small crush ice is so yummy!
Here is a tip: They offer a free soda if you pay with cash to save them the CC fee’s.

I’ve been coming here going on two years and have «NEVER» had a bad experience or bad food selection. I have been here alone, with the MRS., family, and a large group of friends and co-​workers on more than one occasion. Each time outstanding from getting the order right to the food coming in an acceptable time period cooked thoroughly and tasty. I’ve been here when it’s been packed I’ve been here when it’s just myself and the owner. Either way the quality is the same and I always have a laughing good time. As a matter of fact my wife HATES HAMBURGERS but if she has one it’s only here which a bonus for me cause I truly love this place.

This place rocks! Amazing burger’s !!all 4 of us loved our burgers Its a tiny place but worth the stop! Very nice surprise! On our way to the airport! I had the jalapeño burger with fried pieces of jalepenos so good. My son in-​law had a cheeseburger burger with a overeasy egg on that looked yummy too! Don’t hesitate to try it!

Ok so I really need to start with walking in the front door. 11:45 am. No one there. Music in the back playing. 11:50 am. Another customer walks in. Still no answer from the back. I say hello a few times. Finally a friendly hello how can I help you? «Sorry I was working in the back.» I ordered the Philly Cheese steak with bacon. I was informed that I would have my food in 12 minutes. 11 minutes later food! Well it was ok. Just not the correct flavor for a cheese steak. The meat was dry. The steak was bland. Not sure if they know how to make a cheese steak. I consumed my food. There was now one around to thank you for stopping buy!

We came in after reading the reviews on Unilocal,I orderd the heart attack, very good and filling after only eating ½. Well worth the $ 12.00. My son orderd the Mac and cheese burger which was also very good, definitely a must-​try when passing through Salida

Because they cook food to order, it takes a little longer. Chill! The reason fast-​food places are fast is because their food (except In-​and out) is sitting under heat lamps for how long?

This place is great came out for a small car show and stop in for a burger. I tell you I have not had a bigger at a bbq or restaurant that was as good as this .
I had the classic steak house burger !! Good good good
The meat the toppings and even down to super soft bread.

Was very pleased with my mac n cheese burger! The toasted bun was super crispy and the mac n cheese was not messy at all to eat as it stuck really well on the meat.
We also got the instagram-​worthy Heart Attack burger with fries, definitely worth trying once even if the combo is $ 12 because you get two grilled cheese sandwiches, a beef patty, onion rings, bacon, pickles, and who knows what else in a mound of grease and satisfaction. However I do think the other burgers are enough on their own and much more practical and affordable to eat.
