Perko’s Cafe

This review is for Nancy. It was my first time at Perko’s and all the girls in my class thought we should have breakfast in between finals. I called the day ahead and made a reservation for all of us. We had a party of 14 and she did everything right. The service was fast and she got everybody’s orders right the first time. She even split the check up individually for us. The food was also amazing so props to the chef. Will definitely be coming back.

Never written a review on here but his place was overpriced and the waitresses stand and talk to each other REALLY loudly right near the seating… especially one of the waitresses. Got to be really annoying after a half hour sitting there.

I eat breakfast at Perkos at
Least once a week. Always basically satisfied.
But Today I wanted to try something new and ordered lunch instead of breakfast. BIG MISTAKE.
Hamburger was
Flavorless and Patty was WAY smaller then the bun, which fell apart. Defiantly will not eat lunch there again. For a $ 10.00 hamburger I would have expected something better. Lesson Learned.

I am very pleased with this restaurant. We tend to come here because we get coupons through the mail. (Buy 1 entrée and 2 drinks get an entrée free up to $ 9.99) You get more for your buck. I usually order the burger. I tend to try a different one every time i come in and they have always come out really good.

When you order a burger, but the waitress says you can’t have it medium because it’s low quality meat, you should leave. I stayed and my expensive, but my low quality burger was ok. The service was terrible. The restaurant was empty, so I expected perfect service. But, as time went on, I was disappointed and realized that my waitress didn’t like to be on the floor at all, except for the 1 regular that showed up.

Depending on what server you get it could be great fast service or horrible service with your food coming out wrong or cold. Food is ok, don’t like the pancakes they taste to much like cake, French toast is good. Better portions then IHOP, they give you more food for your money.

The service here is great. The food is decent although not really worth the price unless you are using a coupon (buy an entrée and two beverages, get a free entrée). I ordered the smothered steak and it was a little salty. My bf ordered the guacamole burger. It was clearly a frozen patty and the guacamole prepackaged, but he said it was still good and they give you a generous serving of fries. So overall ok and would return but only with a coupon :)

The worst service
Took my family in for dinner and was treated poorly. The food was amazing and the server was horrible she spent more time talking to the manager and a guy at sitting at the counter about personal issues. I can’t believe the manager would talk so loud about sexual positions to where customers can hear, very unprofessional. We had to ask another server for refills and a Togo box and waited almost 5 minutes to pay our check. we get better service at McDonald’s.

My girlfriend and her friend are regulars at perkos and last week they went to the selida store and was treated very rude by the manager on duty, she stated that it appeared like if she was the main person in charge. The company has coupns in cell that come thru text, and she tried to use it and the manager was argueing with her, tell my girlfriend that she couldn’t use it twice and my girlfriend told her that she had just recieved it because she had just gotten the code for her phone. She basically accused her of lieing. She was also niglected by management and noone checked on her table. It appeared that they were bothered by the discount. If you don’t want to honor it, don’t put it out. The manager also treated them different because of race. Afrer seeing that at the Oakdale store from the lady manager there, I totally agree that the company is a little racist. Good food managers stink.

Went here for a quick bite to eat with my mom after her doctor appointment. Its close to Kaiser in Modesto so it is a good place to grab a bite before or after an appointment. I have eaten a Perkos in the past and have never been too crazy about it but my mom likes it alot. Things have changed since I have eaten there last though. The have a nicer menu with more items. It is a cute little café with a country/mom’s kitchen kind of feel. They had a special that was a parmesan cheese and spinach stuffed ravioli with an alfredo sauce. You can get it with chicken or shrimp or just the raviolis. My mom and I both ordered this but she got hers with chicken and I didn’t. It came with garlic bread and a strawberry for garnish. We both really enjoyed our meals. my mom said the chicken was a little dry but that was her only complaint. That ravioli was great and so was the sauce. The bread was really good too. It was only $ 6.95 which was very reasonable price for a nice lunch. Our waitress was very attentive and nice. She got our food and drinks out to us quickly and checked in a couple of times. This was very different from past experiences I have had at Perkos. My mom has a few appintments in the futire and I definitly think we will stop by again for another lunch.

It was better than the free hotel breakfast. Like a Denny’s very inexpensive. Quick food service and friendly staff. Dollar ice cream scoops was great. Food was as expected.

I’ve had TV dinners that tasted better. Food looked and tasted as if it came out of a bag and was microwaved.

Very well known for their morning servers, so kind and welcoming when you arrive and the food is quick, cheap and delicious. They give you your tab when you get your food, which I love since I have little ones. Our family is the regulars. I highly recommend them!

Came here for the first time for a business meeting. Wasn’t really excited about the prospect of ordering food. After we walked in that all changed. Very clean, new décor, and food was very good & came out fast from the kitchen & hot!
We now have the pleasure of weekly meeting in their side room & our server Hilleri is fantastic, friendly, professional & always has a big smile!

I was recently up in Modesto to attend a wedding and we were put up in the La Quinta Inn across the parking lot from Perko’s. The day after the wedding we wanted to grab some breakfast before I had to drive back to San Jose and catch my flight back home to LA. We walked in around 9am on Sunday morning and I was fully expecting about an hour wait (that’s the Angeleno in me) but to our surprise we were seated right away in a comfy booth.
The menu has all the American breakfast favorites along with how many calories are in each option. I try my best to eat healthy and seeing the calorie count alone nearly gave me a heart attack. Although, the menu was laid out like a local newspaper which the Graphic Designer in me really appreciated!
We both ended up getting the same thing — two scrambled eggs, two pancakes, and two sausage links. The food came out fairly quickly and the check was given to us at the same exact time. Weird. The place was basically empty (also weird considering it was Sunday morning), but it still seemed like they were trying to usher us out. The food was… basically the same caliber as Denny’s. Meh. It filled us up but blew out our calorie intake for the rest of the day.
The Denny’s-quality food would probably have earned a one-​star review from me but our waitress was really nice so I bumped it up to two. However, I’m ignoring the fact that after we were given our food and check at the same time we sat with empty drink glasses and never saw her again.

Great service great food is a good combination for a happy customer.

This are first time eating here at this PeRkOs and I have to say the Food and Service was awesome. The Restaurant was very clean and Nice. We will be coming back to eat here in future when ever we are in the area.

Nice simple place when you want to avoid dennys. Fast, friendly service and inexpensive. There business hours are not 24 hours like Dennys. but you do not get the same steerage you may find at Denny’s around 2am either… :-) Just a nice simple place to enjoy coffee.

Stopped there today for lunch. Will not be back.(One Star) Was greeted immediately and within approximately 2 minutes was seated and given water. (2 stars) My order was taken within 5 minutes.
And that’s where it stops.
1. The fork I was supposed to use had dried food on it which looked like egg. Now that tells me that the temp of the dishwasher was not high enough. Ooooo Bacteria
2. When the food came my chicken fried steak was at least ½ to ¾ of an inch thick. Anyone who is a chicken fried steak fan knows that there is something rotten in Denmark.
3. Whatever type of coating they put on it came right off the minute you tried to cut it.
4. The meat was totally tasteless and looked like it had been ground up and pressed together because when trying to chew it, it just crumbled.
5. This is not a good place to spend your money. Go to the grocery store, buy the things you need and go home and cook it yourself. You will be money ahead and better off.

Once I started doing these reviews I noticed that I forgot to review the tried and true haunts.
Perkos on Kiernan is one of those haunts. The food is always hot and to your table on a timely basis. The staff is «down home» friendly. If you’d looking for good eats above the Denny’s fare this is a good place to spend your money.
