My puppy jumped in the river here and I had to jump in and rescue him. They should post signs that there are no dogguards. Also, the water is too high and the current too swift. They should lower it for tourist season. Also, dog life vests should be available.

Lovely smaller park near the touristy downtown area of Salida. Great place for a stroll with plenty of picnic tables(including accessibility for those with disabilities) and benches, and a nice playground along with a «rock climbing wall» that would be suitable for older kids. There’s also a small amphitheater here which looks like it would be nice for outdoor performances.

So nice to stop at the farmer’s market or just to get in a game of b-ball! You will be glad you stopped!

Beautiful park right on the river with big trees, lots of tables, BBQ. Well maintained. A little osis in an arid area.

Riverside Park is a new park in the area. Before there was a small waterfront but the town has really stepped up to the plate to create this beautiful section. There is now a grassy park for playing in and throw a ball with your dog. It also has a theater shell for outdoor performances. Walk under the walkway and you will find people swimming in the current… just floating along the Arkansas River. You can also catch people practicing on the kayak course. There’s a tiny beach that is quiet during the week but beware of the weekend. It can be exceptionally crowded. Riverside Park has become quite a destination place for the locals and visitors alike. Take in the river, the people watching and take a dip yourself.
