We visited on close to their first day open. Service was poor but the food was good and we were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. We went back and ate a couple times but the food was not great and the service was just a little better. We did try going to eat there on their advertised days open and found that they were closed! This was disheartening and did not endear them to us. Why drive to a restaurant if you can’t be sure if they will be open the hours they advertise. They are now closed for the season and realistically we don’t expect this business to survive.

We went in to check it out. It was usually busy during the summer, but it was not busy on Thursday, which is too bad. It still has the darkish, bar feel walking into the place. But, the lower and upper decks were nice, clean and in good shape. The waitperson, and I apologize for forgetting your name, was very professional and we had a great time. The menu has good range, a little pricy for a roadside joint, but an all day breakfast made it better than most. I had a burger and Mac and Cheese side(There is your value in sides, inexpensive and good). Jeanni rolled the dice and ordered Eggs Benedict. It was almost exactly to her liking. The burger was great and the Mac and Cheese, my go to comfort food, was very well made. Pasta was cooked perfectly and wonderfully cheesy. And even though the place was not busy, the food was fresh. That says a lot. All in all, if you are driving by… stop. With the addition of TVs in the next couple of weeks, I can see popping in for Sunday Broncos games and lunch/dinner.

I would really like to like this place, but I can’t seem to get my timing right. We came on a Sunday at 5:05 P.M. Closed. Okay, Sundays they’ve decided to close at 5:00. Got it. Then we tried on a Wednesday. Closed. Okay, closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Got it. So we came on a Thursday at 6:55 P.M. The sign said open, but when we walked in, a guy met us partway in and said«sorry, we’re closed.» Huh? It is 10 miles there and 10 miles back. I doubt we’ll try again.

This was a complete impulse stop & what a good stop it was! You should stop here too — before they go bankrupt from their enormous portions! My brother got a burrito smothered in «Christmas» chili(red/green mixed) — $ 5.25. My partner & I split a slice of apple pie & ice cream — it was about one-quarter of a pie for $ 4.00. The service was super-friendly — the waitress brought us two slices of bacon for our dog, who was waiting in the car. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside on their enormous deck. Highly recommended stop on Hwy. 285!

Nestled along the highway between Beuna Vista and the historic district of Salida is a new, up and coming bar/grill/club: The Fox Den. With a beautiful array of food to choose from, delicious and unique drinks such as the«Russians in Hawaii celebrating Christmas», and a nightclub on Fridays and Saturdays with $ 2 shuttle buses from 3D Cannabis in Solida. The venue is big but secluded. Has a bar upstairs and downstairs, large up stairs patio and downstairs patio, and a dance floor. This place is fairly new, which means it is not«bumping» just yet. But hopefully with this review, more will want to visit the anthropormorphic themed Fox Den; where you can smoke whatever pleases you(legally of course)

Great new place! The food is awesome and the remodel is fresh and fun. They have great outside seating area and late night dancing. A must stop if you are in the Salida or Buena Vista area.
