This place was very disappointing after all the rave reviews we heard about it. It has a nice ambiance and location, but the foods/drinks did not live up to expectations. For starters, the cocktails were AWFUL. This was really shocking to us. I got a whiskey sour, my girlfriend a margarita, and both were very subpar. I could do better at home, which isn’t saying much. The food was just ok. The one standout was the truffle fries; they were very good. But the potstickers were just meh, and the mussels were just ok as well. With all the options in Salida for good food(Amicus, little Cambodia) we will probably not be stopping here again.

Fantastic place for lunch. We stopped here going to our destination and it was so good that we stopped again on oir way back. Super sandwiches on fresh, crusty bread. An interesting cocktail selection — full bar. Laid back but attentive service.

The food was great! For our main course we had the prosciutto and gruyère sandwich with sweet potato fries, the Brussels sprouts, and rabbit and antelope sausage. The portions were ample! We topped off our meal with dessert… apparently a woman in town makes their pies and they are unbelievable good. Definitely will be back next time we are in town!

First of all, the food we ordered was great and I would love to give a higher rating, but I just can’t bring myself to because the waiter who delivered our food to us was eating off our plates. We were a party of 4 and ordered a variety of drinks, tapas and 2 of the burgers of the day. All of the food was great, I especially liked the burger and the truffle fries. However, my friend noticed that the waiter was eating fries off of each of our plates as he brought them over from the kitchen. The waiter brought 2 plates out first, and we noticed him eating the fries off those plates. As we watched him bring 2 more plates out, we realized he was eating fries off of those plates as well. My friend pointed it out and asked the guy«Do you always eat the fries off the customer’s plates?» to which the waiter smugly responded«Quality control» and proceeded to leave the plates on our table. My friend asked a different waiter if there was a manager on duty that he could speak with and this second waiter said«sort of» and went to talk to some other employee. They never sent anyone over to our table to listen to our issue. They ended up taking the fries off our bill. We weren’t trying to get anything comped, but merely wanted to point out how unprofessional and frankly, gross, that is. We later saw the same guy who had eaten off our plates wiping his face and nose and it totally grossed us out. I would be willing to give this place another chance because the food was pretty good, but I wasn’t impressed by the lack of customer service especially after we pointed out that the guy was eating off our plates.

This is a must stop for all our future travels through Salida. We stopped in for a late lunch over the holidays and enjoyed two of the best sandwiches we have had in a LONG time. The salmon sandwich on the lunch menu was absolutely delicious– we have tried to recreate it at home! The turkey sandwich was a so fresh and tasty. We have gone to several other restaurants in town which have been good but this place is a must stop. Clean atmosphere, service was top notch, and the food 5 starts.

I was so excited to spend NYE in Salida and the Fritz was part of the reason! The restaurant consistently makes some delicious food each time I visit! And due to the seasonal menu, I get to eat something new every time! We ordered a few tapas to share in addition to burger of the day. Smoked salmon, French green beans, pork potstickers and spicy quinoa stir fry were all excellent! I especially enjoyed the stir fry with just the right amount of smokiness and spice! The green beans were lightly fried and sprinkled with minced garlic. The sweet potato fries that came with the burger were hand cut and with healthy pinch of sea salt! For drinks, we ordered the old-fashioned, Mexican hot chocolate and hot apple cider. All were delicious! We enjoyed the warm and inviting atmosphere of this restaurant! I can always count on the Fritz to deliver some top notch food in this small town! It even rivals some of the best restaurants in Denver!

Amazing food in downtown Salida. Great beer and booze selection. We had the mac and cheese, beef slices, brussel sprouts, spicy quinoa and something else I’ve forgotten. The service was top notch even though you could tell they were shorthanded. My kids enjoyed their meal, as did my wife and I. I would go back here in a second.

I swear Dustin Hoffman was making the food. It was delicious! I recommend just getting a BUNCH of tapas because you want to taste everything! Even a brownie for desert was amazing! Fun staff and friendly atmosphere!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food and drinks. I enjoyed the butternut squash risotto along with the brussel spouts and bacon wrapped figs… delicious. Everyone was great and I really enjoyed my time there. I will be sure to visit upon my return.

Stopped for a late lunch. We order the burger of the day and a pastrami sandwich. The burger of the day is grass fed beef and amazing cream cheese atoili spread. The buns look homemade and everything is delicious. Service is wonderful and staff is friendly. If you’re driving through or staying the night, I highly recommend The Fritz.

Four of us lunched here. Lovely outdoor seating, superb service, and delicious food. I had the burger with slaw, and it may very well have been the best burger I’ve ever eaten. We split the big chocolate chip cookie with sea salt caramel ice cream. The cookie was a bit too well done for me; I prefer a chewy cookie to a crunchy one. The ice cream was perfect. We had great service – a big plus after the awful service we experienced at a different Salida restaurant yesterday.

Always a delicious treat to eat here when stopping in Salida on our way through the mountains! This trip we had the Steak Fritz and Burger of the day — perfection! In the past, I’ve really enjoyed the small plate of the steak and horseradish. We treated ourselves to a brownie at the end, along with some coffee. I was pleased to find it came in a french press — I could make it as dark as I wanted and it was more than 1 cup! Wonderful. The patio is pleasant and service friendly. Thanks for being open on a Sunday, too! The only suggestion I would have: add more local Colorado brews to your list on tap or bottled!

Excellent meal. We had the bacon wrapped dates, the Mac and cheese and the pot stickers and it was so yummy we added the brussel sprouts. Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely come back.

Four star review basically based on the fact that this was the friendliest and most sentimental place we visited while in Salida. We had been involved with a ‘wedding brunch’ at a place just off the river with basically too few servers for the MASS of people needing food and our order got skipped… I’m not reviewing that place though. So, after we got skipped, we went over to The Fritz and got great service and food. We liked it so much, we stopped back by after the wedding and reception for a night cap and had a really romantic fun time in the midst of a normal loud Saturday night. Both times we sat in the idealic courtyard. Great service, great food and a beautiful city. You can’t go wrong!

Food was pretty good– and fast. Service was ok considering it was a busy weekend. Our first server was pretty abrupt but then we got a more friendly one.

Nice atmosphere, consistent staff, aoli was a little garlicky for me. Sweet fries are tasty and the sandwiches are also good. Beer on tap is fresh.

This restaurant is a lot more than a tapas bar and I will try to edit the Unilocal listing to reflect this. They do have a full restaurant menu, both small plates and entrees. We have taken to ordering a variety of small plates in these sorts of restaurants, especially when traveling. We get variety and an option to see the restaurant cuisine across a wider spectrum than otherwise might happen with just the two of us. The service was fantastic, right off the bat. On a summer evening, we got a nice table outdoors, covered for weather with a nice view of the Riverside Park, even though there were a lot of customers but no wait, on a Monday night. When taking our drink order, our waiter could see my indecision and was patient while I pondered. I finally asked for something not on the menu and he quite gladly said he would come up with something. He asked for preferences in style(sweet vs dry etc) and then showed up with a most fantastic version. I was thrilled and we talked some more about the ingredients. I asked if perhaps the bartender came up with it and he shyly smiled and said that he was also the bartender. Awesome! We then shared a delicious and fresh simple green salad plate, the duck taco plate, an absolute winner of flavors and freshness, with some mango and cotija cheese and a well made and comforting mac and cheese with bacon. We finished with a seasonal dessert. I would absolutely eat here again if ever in Salida. The old downtown area along the river is quite charming and was my favorite part of town.

FRITZ is at the intersection of not too bad and not too good. Sweet potato fries are tasty, but white potato fries are tasteless. Ravioli is a bit too pan fried, and bacon dates are yummy. Duck taco is adquate, but mussels are extremely disappointing. Steak is tender and rare in the best way. It can get crowded and *noisy* here on a rainy night. Better to eat on the patio on a dry day. Service is inconsistent. Do not order the mussels or the ordinary fries. Other dishes can be well-prepared.

Enjoyed a divine meal here. I got there early(5PM) for a quick dinner. Was able to sit outside and enjoy the music playing across the street. I didn’t have a wait but I have no doubt they get busy when it’s closer to normal dinner hours, so keep that in mind. Staff is very attentive. It’s interesting because I couldn’t tell you for sure who my waiter was… At least 5 different people interacted with me at my table. A bit odd, but it didn’t bother me. As for the food? Delightful. It’s great that they have larger entrees as well as small plates so you can try a bunch of things. I started with their beet salad with Gorgonzola and micro greens, which at first seemed like odd components in a dish but was surprisingly cohesive and delicious. I then moved on to their special for the day: mussels with French fries on top. Doesn’t get much better than that. Only had one gritty mussel(I think there’s a gritty one that always slips in) but the rest were perfect. Served in a white wine/shallot broth… YUM. Check this place out for sure. It’s small and easy to pass by, but you won’t want to miss it.

The Fritz is one of my favorite restaurants I’ve been to in a while. We were in Salida for a weekend get-away and our meal here really topped our night off. The atmosphere is fresh and laid back and the patio, which we didn’t opt for, is charming. The menu is made of a lot of small plates that are perfect for sharing, or for getting several to try yourself. Corey and I split the mac and cheese(yum!), brussel sprouts, which should’ve been crispier, and the steak with horseradish dijon which was out of this world. Next time I’m in Salida, I’ll definitely be found here.
