Wow this place was amazing I cannot believe how much food I got for $ 20 and they had fresh homemade tortillas I got steak chicken shrimp fresh guacamole fresh rice everything was amazing even late at night and the Tamarine juice was fresh and so delicious I will definitely be back for $ 20 I had enough food to feed a whole family

Huaraches — Basically the authentic version of a Mexican pizza or tostada with a fresh home made flour tortilla.
Service was good, but my only complaint is that it’s a bit small and not very good for groups.
The food was affordable and very tasty and I can’t wait to go back and try other dishes.

This place is a dive.
The food is OK. Definitely cheap.
Did I mention it is an absolute dive?
Do not go to this place thinking that it is A normal 4 ½ star restaurant.
I went ahead and ate here anyway because I was starving, I will be shocked if I do not have food poisoning tomorrow.
The same woman who is cleaning the bathrooms and mopping the floors was also working in the kitchen preparing my dinner.
May God have mercy on your gut if you decide to eat at this place.

Best mexican food in town.
Only downside is location.
I recommend moving to the south side guys. It’s time to progress and really improve your seating.
Got elbowed a few times picking up a Molcahete, which i highly recommend. Ordered over the phone. Was ready in 20 mins. Very fast and quality for its price.
Keep the business and quality of food up. Please don’t loose that taste like the Casa Del Sazon. They started great and as every business got greedy for tips and the portions shrank.
So summing it all up. Awesome food. Take out would be best. Parking could be better. Cash only. Overall 5 stars for quality of food.

The food is delicious. Well I’ve only tried the Molcajete and I love it. It has a combination of different flavors. I love the fact that I can add extra things at no charge (win win). And the tortillas are home made which makes the food taste more authentic.
The only down side are the chairs (no where to seat). Parking also sucks (had to park 2 blocks away) but it’s worth it!

Five stars for the food… only missing one star because you sit close enough to strangers from them to eat off of your plate.. we had the Huachucas… his with chorizo, mine with Carne asada.. both delish.. no tables. … just counter space for 12… we will be back!

It’s really hard to find a very good Mexican food restaurant in Salinas. My friends took me to this little place, at first I was very skeptical about it. The location and being such an small place, when I tried my green chilaquiles I was surprised, they were very delicious, the amour of food and the prices so affordable, not mentioning the welcoming service from the staff, the are very kind and nice. I went back today and for sure will keep coming back later, I will recommend this place to my other friends.

We were looking for somehwere to eat last night (around 9pm) on our way through Salinas. As one of the few places still open, we chose Eva’s, which was a superb choice.
The food was excellent in every respect and displayed (frankly) a very surprising attention to detail for a small restaurant like this. This was true even down to the salsas (both verde y roja), which had great consistency (not watery at all) and flavoring.
We ordered many dishes — the plato ranchero, carne asada fajitas, chicken enchiladas, a quesadilla, and a couple others that I don’t remember. I didn’t try every dish personally, as I focused primarily on the plato ranchero, but everyone in our group loved everything.
The plato ranchero was cooked extremely well — just below charring (a threshold that too many restaurants gladly exceed for no reason) — and it was seasoned subtly but smartly. The cactus in the dish was actually some of the best I’ve had.
As everyone notes in other reviews, the place is small, but I couldn’t care less about that. The servers were very nice, and the food took probably 20 minutes after we ordered, despite the fact that they were still filling a lot of call-​in/​take-​out orders at that time.
As with most places that I rate 5-​stars, Eva’s didn’t just exceed my expectations (my basic starting point for a 4-​star rating) — it made a very lasting impression and left me wanting a lot more despite not being very hungry at all.

Great place for authentic Mexican food. This place is a hole in the wall and the seating space only accommodates 10 people or even less. Great food. Cooked to perfection. Will be going back for the great service as well.

The flavor is pure awesomeness. The parking is horrible and so is the seating. I recommend taking cash because it seems like the kinda place whose credit card machine might not work from one day to the next. The agua de tamarindo, horchata, and jamaica are pretty solid. They are not machine made. The red salsa ia pretty good too. The best though, are the homemade tortillas. You just can’t hate on that. The hell with the rest. Also, I would recommend eating the more traditional specialty plates (i.e. Fajitas, sopes, asada, enchiladas, chilaquiles, huaraches).

I had extremely high hopes for this place, but it was not worth it. I walked in and found out that they didn’t speak English, so I busted out my rusty college Spanish to order 2 fish tacos and 2 shrimp ceviche. I waited about 45 min to an hr for my food and during that time, they filled about 7 to go orders and other customer’s food. In hindsight, ceviche was probably not the best choice since the shrimp fajitas and other dishes looked better. When I finally got my «ceviche» it was actually some boiled shrimp with avocado, lettuce and Thousand island dressing on a tostada. Thousand island dressing?! Where did they even get that? The fish tacos were fine.
Overall, if you speak Spanish and don’t mind waiting, you’ll be fine. And don’t order the ceviche.

Great place! So happy I’ve come across this place in Salinas! Delicious food at reasonable prices. Warning: NOT a good place to go sit down and have lunch, unless you have more than an hour for lunch. I highly suggest you call ahead of time if you want an order to go during the lunch hour. A very small place that is continuously packed during the lunch hour. It was a fun experience running into people we knew, bumping elbows and allowing strangers to eaves drop on our conversation. Good crowd! Great, fast paced, hole in the wall. Highly recommend, with friendly caution.

I ordered the carne asada fries & it was amazing. The meat was tender, juicy & well seasoned. They didn’t skimp out on the portions either. It was almost too much for my boyfriend & I to finish, but you can’t waste delicious food like that.
Unfortunately they ran out of chips when we got there, but it was the best thing to happen for our lunch!!! Instead they gave us fresh home-​made tortillas. At this point we forgot about the fries and made a mouth watering makeshift burritos.
I am definitely going back again! Everything was great, especially the horchata too!

I ordered the Huaraches after reading the Unilocal reviews on this place. OMG! Sooooo good! Chicken was crispy and flavorful… I’ve never heard of huaraches before, but im so glad I tried them!
My husband got the fajitas… best fajitas ever! HUGE portion! Fresh veggies, hot spicy chili, these guys are bomb!!!
Fresh Homemade corn tortillas! And fresh juice! Orange carrot, kids loved it!

This place has limited seating… but I’d sit on the floor to eat this food!!! Eve’s fajitas are better than Chevys… that’s all I have to say.
Staff is super hospitable, cooks are awesome, this place is the real deal.

I can’t believe Eva’s has only a few reviews. I love this place! Been coming here for years It’s like walking into your moms kitchen. I can’t say I tried all their dishes, but I really love their vegetarian huaraches. Love their chilaquiles! You have to try them! Their refried beans are out of this world! Their tortillas are unbelievable!
The owner is very nice and attentive. Yes, place is small and you have to wait a bit, totally worth it!

They are moving to a bigger location! Food is simply amazing. Try their Huaraches topped with your favorite meat, you won’t be dissapointed. Very authentic homey feel. They are very attentive and cater well to their customers.

Wow, walked into the place sure I was wasting my time, as i have tried every Mexican spot in Monterey County except this place. Now it’s my favorite!
Pros; fresh, very nice owners, authentic, textures of foods, combo plates, everything!
Cons; shady neighborhood, small hole in the wall with limited seating serving types of food that are best eaten in, not take out. I think there are like 8 – 9 seats total shoulder to shoulder in the place.
Overall; if you find the non busy times here, you better give this place a try! Still i see tons of people getting carry out.

Amazing! I’ve had A LOT of mexican food but the quality or ingredients and skill of preparation make this place a stand out. A +
