Fosters Freeze

I came in today and it took the lady 5 min to acknowledge me and my husband. I ordered an overpriced burrito and an overpriced medium fry. My husband ordered a chili cheese dog which was about $ 4.20 and it was smaller than my burrito. Horrible service and food is not worth the prices. All the tables were dirty and to top it off the cook did not wear gloves. I will not be coming back to this establishment.

Suggestion, looks like the management team needs retraining. With the right management staff I believe this place can change for the better. When a management team takes pride in their place of work it shows through their employees. I remember when the owners worked there the restraunt was on spot. No one will treat your place the way an owner would. I read the negative comments and understand that there will always be unsatisfied customers. Instead of posting my experience today I hope that the owners will take time to invest in getting management on board to represent your store as you invisioned it would be. I am all about supporting family owned businesses.

Don’t waste your money. This place is terrible now. The service is horrible to say the very least. They always forget your sauces, the drive thru is extremely slow, and the order is wrong a lot of the time. The food has gotten worse too. I ordered an orange soda, and as weird as it sounds, it taste like something was added to it to give that fake vitamin C flavor.

The Rocky Road twister really suck’s it doesn’t even taste like rocky road or chocolate or like ice cream at all. What a waste of money I couldn’t even eat what ever it was.

25 bucks in ice cream and they want to charge my kids 50 cents for a cup of water? Are they kidding, that is not even legal. You have to serve water and charge for bottle. Not a cup of free water. Reporting this for sure. Shame on you Fosters Freeze

How in hell do you burn a hot dog? Well, ask these folks. I bought a hot dog kids meal for my son and the dog was completely inedible. The meat was wrinkled and hard. When I returned it, it was replaced by another over cooked piece of crap.
For the unbelievably high prices they charge, you would think the food would be outstanding. However, the fries have been changed (not for the better), and the burgers have become marginal at best.
Finally, they add insult to injury by CHARGING AN ADDITIONAL $ 1.00 to use a debit card! In fact, under the Durbin Amendment of 2010, I believe this practice is illegal.
Do yourself a favor and go to McDonald’s.

Went to foster freeze last night and was very disappointed cold burgers and my burger had half a patty! Normally it’s very good! Another thing that was disappointing was the foster style fries said had grilled onions and mine have raw red onions

Love, Love, Love this Fosters ! Its my family’s favorite place to go for sweets ! My kid is all about the soft serve in a cup, my hubby is the java cookie dough twister and me… well I’m a chocolate chip malt kind of girl =) they are always sweet and accomodating ! Plus they are serious master blenders of frozen delights lol hey I’m being truthful here !!

Used to come here after a night of drinking. It’s gone down-​hill big time. Last 2 times I got the stomach pangs. Know what I regret most the next morning? Definitely not the alcohol. These guys take absolutely no pride in the food they sell. This also says a lot about their service.

I ordered a large fry and didnt even get a large fry. And to top it off they changed there frys!!! Not satisfied what so ever. The sauce was way over filled my wife opened one in the car and it fell all over her and the seat. No good

First time coming here and NEVER coming back again food sucks and their service is even worse. I ordered #5 combo ended up paying for #3 order which costs more. When I saw the mistake on receipt, I nicely told cashier she made a mistake. She went to tell this grumpy old man about it then he rudely asked me what I wanted and threw my change into my hand. He stared at me while I was eating so uncomfortable.

Having lived around the corner from this place for over 20 years you would think that this would be one of our primary stops but no way. Employees here are way way too rude at the drive through.
They add fees if you use a debit card, not credit. Also they were unable to scan my card so I couldn’t get my food.

I used to LOVE fosters. Having a craving for fries and sauce for a couple weeks I drug my husband here for dinner. Went through the drive thru got home 15 minutes later. Pull out my burger it’s wrong. But fixable. Pull out the fries and they’re cold. Like day or two old fries that had been cooked in oil way too cold to cook anything in. NASTY. I gave one to my husband (who was in the military and will eat anything) and his response was feed that shit to the dogs. My dinner is currently in the trash. I wouldn’t even feed that to my dogs. For the prices people pay you’d think you’d at least get something okay. I could’ve gotten better food at McDonalds, which I hate. Next time I’ll go to In n’ Out.

I only come here for one thing on the menu. A medium cherry slush when I am really thirsty — hits the spot perfectly. It’s the crushed ice that is perfect but the drink is not too sweet like an icee. Everything else on the menu is wayyyyy too expensive for a fast food hamburger place. I will only use the drive thru to get my drink.

Okay so we are here at Fosters freeze right now. The food is always good and the service is okay. We sat at a table downstairs since the upstairs is blocked off. There are plants hanging above us. My husband noticed something from the corner of his eye and sure enough it was a big spider. It was close to landing on his head. I don’t think it’s a good idea to have the plants hanging so close to where people eat. Plus, there are knats everywhere. I love fosters freeze but they need to step it up when it comes to the conditions here. I lose my appetite when it comes to bugs. Bleh!

I have been craving a chili cheese burger for a while so about an hour and half ago I decided I needed something to eat although it is well past the noon hour. As others have mentioned I was VERY disappointed in what I got for $ 4.99. All I could taste was the bun! The meat patty was obviously very poor quality because it was no where near the size of the bun and there was so little chili it appeared to have been spread on with a knife. Same with the cheese. What a disappointment! In the not so distant past I would go to Fosters on a regular basis and the the meat patty would almost hang over the edge of the bun and the chili was abundant… it was almost impossible to eat it while driving because if you did you would be wearing most of it.
What has happened to this Salinas Institution is extremely sad… the way they are going it will soon be another part of the history of Salinas. Food not good with high prices is a recipe for failure. Fosters is suppose to still be in the family of the man who originally started it in Salinas back in the 60’s maybe 50’s. As my grandmother would say «he is probably turning over in his grave».
I will not be going back!

I only visited once and never coming back prices are high food is alright but what bothered me the most was the service especially the way my food was served it reminded me of something my mom says when ppl don’t iron their clothes paresia Que last sacaron de la pansa del burro, I visited the drive thru by the way

I am kindof sad that Foster’s only ranks 3 stars if not less these days. I was home recently and wanted to get some good old Fosters. I had the old fashioned with cheese, fries with secret sauce, and a soda. My burger was average, a little dry, needed to use some of my sauce on it. Fries were crinkle cut, I remember them being more like steak fries so I am not sure if they ran out or if that’s a permanent change. The service was friendly and they let me use the Unilocal coupon. I used the drive through so I can’t speak to the condition of the interior. The sauce is good as always but the burgers are definitely not as good as the last time I came through.

Screw this restaurant. Way to expensive, not very good, shit service. I decided to give it another chance and when I got to my burger it was half the size of the bun.
Tldr: f*** this place

I remember coming here on my lunch break from school, I LOVED their «special» dipping sauce! No Place had such a thing in Salinas back then. I came here again prior to the big horse parade with my daughter and the service was very pleasant and the soft serve ice cream was yummy (I also had a deep fried burrito, kinda blah)
I actually remember when Fosters had NO seating and was more or less a shack across the street from their current location. what can I say, I’m old; I’m surprised I remember stuff at all
