My husband loves going here for the tools due to the pretty good sales and pricing. Normally I enjoy it too. Today was different, normally I would rate a four, but not today. We had a coupon for their Presidents sale, but they wouldn’t let us use the coupon we had. Said that since one of our items was not eligible, we couldn’t use it at all for any of the other items. That was bogus. The item that didn’t qualify consisted of only $ 20 of our $ 130 purchase. Ridiculous that she wouldn’t accept it. I should have spoken to a manager, but I didn’t feel like waiting for her to hunt someone down, it’s usually pretty hard to get help there.

I like coming here when I get my car fixed at Star Tune. I find a lot of things very handy here and the store offers coupons as well. I highly recommend looking here first to see if there is a deal before going to the bigger chain stores like Home Depot, Orchard, and Lowe’s.

Harbor Freight Tools (a chain not just in Salinas) offers tools at a fraction of the cost (50−70% cheaper) compared to tools at other stores such as Sears or Orchard Supply Hardware! (A GREAT VALUE — although their quality is far inferior which may not matter depending on what you need).
I find this store is very useful for the unconventional automotive tools that get seldom used, but can really save your ass when you need them, such as extended reach needle-​nose pliers, etc. Also, household tools are good here! Their tools are definitely not for the professional mechanic who uses tools every day, but for the weekend warrior who likes to wrench on your own car, they are the BOMB for the price! Value! Value! Value!
They also have extreme coupons that give you free items and larger discounts. These are available at the store, and in many automotive magazines, such as Mustang mags… I once spent $ 25 here, and the equivelent cost for the similar tools at Sears would’ve been well over $ 100!!!
I don’t know why, I get a kick out of the smell when I enter this place. It reeks of a chinese factory and petroleum (gaseline/​oil) products! I can’t explain it!
The young lady working the cashier is very cool and has saved me money with the coupons!
