Still coming here after two years! I have referred several friends and not one of them have been disappointed. Cut, Color, makeup or wigs… This is the place to come! All the stylist are pleasant and nice to talk with! I am so happy to have found Phillip after living here for 10 years!

Super friendly and professional staff. I got my color match to my new set of hair extensions and Lizette Martinez did a wonderful, beautiful job, she is the best. Plus they will take care of your hair with the best products, I definitely recommend this salon. Any question you have they will help you. #ilovemyhaircolor. Plus I did not need an appointment.

I have been looking for a salon ever since I moved to Salinas a couple years ago. I’ve been here twice and have loved the results both times (cuts and highlights). Definitely «my» salon now :)!

I wouldn’t recommend seeing Iliana other than for a trim or simple color… The other male stylists seem to have much higher knowledge on hair. I originally gave only one star but I am editing my review after thinking over a few weeks.
I know everyone has to start somewhere, but I just didn’t have a very pleasant experience here. I could definitely tell she was new and young but maybe she should not have been working on my hair then.
When I had called to make an appointment I made it clear that I wanted someone to do an olaplex treatment on my hair and that I wanted it bleached to a lighter color. I thought I made sure over the phone what I would be wanting.
I have not bleached my hair before my hair was perfectly fine to bleach, I understand that when going to a lighter color you get brassy hair but I was prepared for that and had done a lot of research and I had toner at home. She said she couldn’t get me a platinum blonde… I was like yes I know this I just want to start the process so bleach it one time and I come back in a few weeks for another. My hair was healthy.
Anyways, she said she could only do an ombré. I drove a long way thinking that I made it clear on the phone what I wanted.
I was frustrated from driving so far… So I let her do the ombré, since she wouldn’t do anything else as she told me «we don’t do that». Now it did look good but the thing is she could have died my entire hair to get the color of the ombré. I wanted that color all over. It made no sense, my hair isn’t even damaged and it feels great even after she bleached the bottom. She claimed she could only get me one color up (which was a dark brown) but my ombré was way lighter than that dark brown color so she really seemed like she did not know what she was talking about.
Since then I have gone blonde easily so she basically did a pointless step on my hair which made it harder to even out my blonde when I went somewhere else. She needs to learn more about hair and listen to what her customers want.
I hate to give bad reviews but she was kinda rude as well. Maybe she should only be doing trims. They also made me feel like I shouldn’t go blonde the way they reacted. I’ve wanted to go blonde for years and that was just rude because I know it is a long process but you shouldn’t give your customers shocked looks when they want to do a dramatic change. However, I am rating them a star higher because they offered to look at my hair again and discuss the process but I am already blonde from another salon which they did with no hesitation or problem.
I also feel that because I didn’t speak up about the ending results that is partially my fault, however I am very shy and was frustrated that she didn’t just dye my hair all over. In my opinion, it is not worth it and I just wanted to see someone new after not listening to what I wanted more.

Iliana is great! She took her time and made my hair look amazing! I am so happy with my new style.

I have been going for many years and this is the best place to get your hair done at. I am bi-​racial and wear my hair natural. I have tried many places but this is the one salon that has always made me feel gorgeous by the time I leave. Phillip does my hair and he takes his time, puts all his focus into what he is doing, and makes sure I am happy with the results (which I am every time.) Phillip has taught me how to style and care for my hair. Being raised with my white mother, she had no clue how to take care of my hair so I am grateful for Phillips guidance. The prices are a little high but that is what you pay for great quality hair services. If you want to walk out looking like your best, it is worth every single cent. If you want a cheap haircut or style and look like crap, this isn’t the place you want.

I love Phillip. He is amazing. I have spent my whole life unhappy with every style or cut– until I met phillip. He will find what works for you and will be homest and tell you what doesn’t work. Super sweet and like a best friend every time you walk in the door whether it’s been a few weeks or months since your last visit.

Marcos was amazing at fixing my hair after a bad haircut. My husband normal does not like short hair but even he was amazed at what Marcos was able to do. I would definitely suggest him to others.

My wife drives all the way down to Salinas from SF just to get her hair done here.

Vanessa does a fabulous job! I have long think hair and she not only does a great job managing it, but gives her professional input to help you achieve what you were envisioning. She has taken me from brown, to blonde and back and my hair is still in great condition.

My mother lives in Salinas and was looking for a new stylist in town. At the time (2008) there were few reviews on Unilocal for hair salons, but Personal Touch was listed.
We went in for a consultation and another woman was waiting for her appointment.
She told us that she’d been looking for a good colorist and hair stylist for months and had found him in Marcos, one of the owners. She said she’d never go to anyone else again.
Of course, we decided to book an appt for mom. Our consultation was with Phillip, who we thought was Marcos, so when mom went to her appointment, oops, different person!
Well, she was not disappointed. She came home and her hair was gorgeous and her color was perfect. The new do made her look younger and, of course, happy.
I decided I’d try Marcos too, even though there are tons of great salons here in the Bay Area. Now, I’m a devout fan and I get both my color highlights and cuts from Marcos when I come to visit.
Yes, I know this review is long overdue. I still love my hair and so does mom. If you want a great haircut, superb color, try Personal Touch. You can’t go wrong.

Personal Touch is a brand! I absolutely love Marcos and Phillip’s style and high quality work! Their salon is very clean, with a classy but yet edgy look! Great customer service and very professional staff! Do I recommend them? ABSOLUTELY!!!

I am very picky when it comes to my hair. I looked at several different salons around the area when I first moved here and decided to try out A Personal Touch. I made an appointment with Phillip and a year and a half later I will not go anywhere else! He nailed it on the first go. I always get highlights in my hair and Phillip lightens my hair without the use of bleach leaving it so much softer and damage free. I had never had layers before, but Phillip cut them perfectly! I have to wear my hair in a bun all day, so to have layers was a bit concerning, but he measures out just enough so that they don’t stick out.
It is a higher end salon so if you are looking for super cut prices you won’t find it here. But you get what you pay for. The atmosphere is great and you are treated professionally the entire time. Although I haven’t made use of any of the spa features myself I’ve never heard any complaints about them either.
I highly recommend this salon and Phillip as my stylist!

Found this place on Unilocal while looking for a decent salon for a lip wax. Went in after work, and was a little wary of the outside — looks a little dated. But the inside is SUPER cute and modern, and everyone there was amazingly nice and helpful. They even have a cute little dog that was hanging out!
I just got a lip wax, but he went out of his way to do a very thorough job. They use the high-​quality, hard wax. Everything was very clean. Park in the lot behind Main St.

Abby is the gal to see at Personal Touch Salon. She has been doing my hair for years and it is the healthiest it has ever been! I have recommended Abby to so many people and not a one has gone anywhere else! Even my fiancé Steve now goes to Abby!

Philip is awesome! I needed a new stylist and went to him based on other positive Unilocal reviews. I was looking for a bit of a change to my hairstyle. I am headed back to work from maternity leave so I wanted something new and fun to help ease the pain! I think I didn’t communicate very well what I wanted, though, because my hair came out quite different than what I had in mind. It was a GREAT haircut and color, just not what I expected.
I gave it a couple of days to see if could get used to the color. I got tons of compliments on it, but decided that it just wasn’t what I was after. I called Philip, apologized profusely and asked if he could redo the color. He was so kind and even offered to come in on his day off. We made an appointment for his next regular day and this time spent a lot more time talking colors. This time it came out exactly the way I had envisioned it!
Philip was so wonderful and so intent on getting me the hair I wanted. I can’t wait to go back again! This time I will make sure we talk until we are on the same page though. But I know that whatever he does it will be beautiful!

For ladies looking for someone who knows what they’re doing with short haircuts, look no further. Phillip delivered a precision, sassy, hip short pixie using all the tools at his disposal. He stopped at various times during the haircut to ask questions and gather my feedback. A true professional!
The salon is located in a historic shopping center, and according to Phillip, has been in business for 30 years. The interior is inviting and warm. Give a nice scratch to the resident pooch that greets you at the reception deck, too!

I have the worst hard to color hair & being half Irish makes lifting my dark roots to blonde & not rusty pumpkin or a tangerine is near impossible!
Many of the most elite have tried & failed, but Phillip is my new hero!
Salon offers many services & their extended hrs are perfect for this working mom.

Really liked my expereince here. Got a chocolate foot scrub and my hair cut. This lovely hair salon is located in a historically old shoppping center but once you walk in you are taken to a much hipper sexy lounge scene with some mad beats if you get my gist. Loved it.
Left their with softer feet, a pedi and a ½ lb. lighter as I got like 6 «lopped off my head and side sweeping semi-​bangs. Highly recommend Shimeko as a hair specialist and stylist.
